The hostel itself was nice but I am extremely disappointed with my experience during the temazcal ceremony offered through this hostel. What began as a meaningful and empowering ritual ended in a deeply inappropriate situation. The guide offered a massage as part of the “sacred” ceremony, which felt manipulative and unprofessional. I went from feeling grounded and connected to feeling extremely unsafe. I hope the hostel takes feedback like this seriously and ensures that all experiences ...
Very bad experience. Got bed bugs here. When filing a complaint my reservation got canceled, whilst I stayed. Very shady. I have pictures showing the bites, they “inspected” the bed but couldn’t find anything. No suitable handling of this incident. Need to have medical proof. They mentioned they never had something like this, whilst later I read in the reviews there have been cases before. More lies, don’t feel like wasting any other words words.
This is the type of hostel where they nickel and dime you at every turn. It creates a bad vibe unfortunately and the staff are not helpful. The location is beautiful but I am sure there are other hostels in the area we there location is just as nice as well as the staff and experience. For example: they don’t provide salt or even a coffee maker in the hostel. There’s a SINGLE hot plate that barely functions, and with 18+ people staying in the hostel this is tough. Activities are often cancel...
Way overpriced
The male receptionist / manager was rude and made us uncomfortable. It was strange that he was hanging out with the guest in the living room during the evening and playing his own music.. also I had raised an issue that I couldn’t get back to my dorm at night because of the faulty lock that close the door back with the wind current and no one staying with me there to open. They completely ignored my message the day after had to figure out where to sleep that night …Not professional
As other travellers have already mentioned, the rooms are quite cramped. The upper bunk has no curtains and the side rail is so low that you’re afraid you might fall out during the night. The room also gets very bright around 6:30 because there are many windows without curtains. The walls are extremely thin, I could hear everything from outside the room. Since the reception is quite far away, there isn’t really anyone ensuring that people stay quiet after 10 pm. It is quite expensive and far...
ACHTUNG! Bettwanzen(Bedbugs!) Alles waschen, 3 mal Bett getauscht in 3 Nächten! Wollte mit dem Manager sprechen, no reply, no apology, no refund, improv...
Hugely overrated. Visually it's a smart modern hotel - clearly some people like that, but it just felt soulless to me. It's terribly expensive, the staff were cold & officious, the wifi didn't work, the single blanket wasn't enough. It did have a nice social vibe, but imho there are much better local options. Many hostels in S Jose are not on here or Booking. Look on Google maps. El Sueño Atrapado is 150 pesos/night & pretty nice.

A magical place with the most epic view. Incredible facilities and very kind staff. Would highly recommend it to anyone near Oaxaca or Puerto Escondido!
Gorgeous mountain lodge! Perfect place to relax and chill. Hot showers, comfy beds, good kitchen and loads of great communal areas. Only downside was the shop could have had better things stocked given the town is 25 min walk away.
My 2 nights at Bostel were some of my favourite of my Mexico trip! It’s a really nice hostel and the perfect place to have mushrooms. Amazing views nearby. We also booked Temazcal at reception and it was one of the most unique, tough, and memorable things I’ve done in Mexico. The wooden floors are a bit squeaky and the toilets lack privacy, but otherwise the dorms and shared spaces were the best I’ve stayed in.
Gorgeous place, surrounded by mountains and nature! The facilities are great too and very easy to meet people! The only issue is that WiFi wasn’t working great during my stay.
A beautiful hostel with wooden structures in midst of cloudy mountains. Loads of nature around, so each traveler type will find something for their needs. The common areas are gorgeous and warm, there are blankets for everyone and even a fireplace. The kitchen area was crowded and got messy quick. That's probably though mostly dependent on the people currently staying there. The hostel's walls are thin, so if you really want your quiet space, I'd recommend a different place.
Beautiful building, great facilties, incredible location with viewpoints, balconies, hammocks and chill out areas everywhere. Short mototaxi trip into town (or 25-30 mins walk).
A beautiful place to stay in the most beautiful location. It feels more like a luxury resort than a hostel. There’s a very nice vibe as well with everyone socialising at night. The volunteers are very nice as well.
Great hostel, nice people, professionally organized, cozy, a fantastic choice!
This place is beautiful! It's a bit outside of San Jose, but its easy to walk or hire a Tuktuk. The facilities and chill areas are super nice and there is an amazing viewpoint. It's a social but chill vibe.
Absolutely stunning surroundings, very cozy interior, did not feel like a hostel, felt like home
Loved it. Gorgeous place, felt super relaxing and like a home. Clean and beds are comfortable. Would highly recommend the temezcal ceremony!
Really enjoyed my time here. Quite a cold place though, and when the wind was blowing there was a really cold draught through the whole building.
great location and the common areas are really nice. The dorm was a bit cramped, the bunk beds shaky and you can hear everything from outside the drom
Best Hostel I have stayed in
Everything was amazing, go get your shrooms blessed they were so good (temazcal Kienasu) cost 550 Mexican pesos. Just don’t leave you stuff out in the rooms my AirPods got stolen by the cleaners 😭
Incredibly special place to stay, most beautiful views of the mountains, so many places to relax and enjoy, short tuktuk ride from town. Staff are lovely and make everyone feel so welcome
It's the best hostel I visited in my 5 weeks of Mexiko. Everything was perfect.
