It’s a nice hostel. A big one too which can make it a disadvantage. I did not find it a very social hostel. Allot of people just on their phones. The hostel is clean so that is a good thing and the beds are really nice. Other than that the social aspect was disappointing the hostel itself is good. And the food on the rooftop is alsof very good!

nice place, super chilled with not a lot happening during the day. dorms are nice but maybe a little overpriced. people seem to arrive here and never leave so there's a good community atmosphere here

Hostel was really clean, modern, and in a great location. The volunteers were great & hosted a lot of activities. We had a few problems with the room so it wasn’t our most enjoyable stay but staff were quick to apologise and compensate us with a free meal.

heel hip hostel met zwembad maar het sociale stukje was hier minder, er worden activiteiten georganiseerd maar er is al meer een groep waar het moeilijker tussenkomen is. Misschien lag dit aan dat het al laat in het seizoen was, maar dat maakte het wat minder helaas!

Really beautiful location and perfect if you want to party at the doctor’s house. They have a nice rooftop but I felt the food was a little overpriced. Otherwise great stay!

J’ai bien aimé la terrasse et la piscine! La chambre dortoir était minuscule mais le lit était confortable et salle de bain très bien! Ambiance agréable et tranquille

Place was really quiet when I was there. Rooftop restaurant barely sold anything that was on the menu. It was clean though and has a nice pool. Great place to stay if you want to go to the famous party next door.

This was my least favourite hostel I stayed at in Sri Lanka. It really does not feel like a hostel, much more like a hotel. I didn’t feel comfortable being myself to try and socialise because there was a family with a baby there and there were people taking work Zoom calls next to the swimming pool. I was told by staff to ignore the local neighbours because they always call the police about the noise - made me super uncomfortable because the locals should be comfortable at home. Avoid.

This was definitely one of my favourite stays in Sri Lanka. First I was solo and two weeks later I came back an brought my boyfriend and friends. The place is absolutely stunning, location perfect and close to anything: supermarket, snorkeling with turtles, ATM and many lovely cafes. Vibe is quiet and calm with plenty of activities organised by the hosts which offers something good for everyone! Can’t wait to come back here.

Such a friendly and lovely hostel. Everyone is so welcoming and kind. The hostel itself is gorgeous with an awesome rooftop restaurant which has amazing food and cocktails. The dorms are cozy with comfy beds and some storage for your clothes. Overall can definitely recommend for solo travelers and groups alike.

Had such an amazing stay at this hostel, everything was amazing. The staff, dorm, bathroom, the poeple, and the overall atmosphere was amazing. The pool, the rooftop bar, and the actitivies organized by the volunteers. 100% would come back to this hostel if I ever come back to Sri Lanka. I can easily see myself staying at this hostel for weeks or even months.

The best social vibe on the island!:) this place is a true hidden gem, further from the bustle of a bigger town, but with relaxed atmosphere, hidden empty beaches, great breakfast spots and a big swimming pool!! For 10€ a night it literally can’t get any better

Perfect hostel voor wie sociale contacten en sociale activiteiten zoekt, maar ook voor wie rust wilt . Ze bieden een fijne werkplek voor wie eventueel online wilt werken en het zwembad biedt de nodige verkoeling. Vlakbij het strand en voldoende eetgelegenheid in de omgeving, of ga op het dakterras zitten voor ontbijt/lunch/diner/borrel. Gasten van buiten zijn ook welkom. Dat maakt het soms iets drukker op het dakterras bijvoorbeeld tijdens Happy-Hour, maar het is absoluut geen party-hostel.

I had a great stay in Spindrift, the staff and volunteers here were so friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was chilled whilst also being social, the hostel puts on a different activity each day from outdoor cinema, to pool party, the location is a 5 mins walk to the beach/main street and they have free water refill. The only improvement they could make would be getting curtains on the beds, otherwise I had a perfect stay!

Best hostel I stayed during my visit. Slightly expensive but it delivers on the promise. Comfortable, good food and fun crowd. I wish they had curtains for beds tho.

I had an amazing stay at Madiha Hostel! Super clean, great location near beaches, cafes, and shops. The staff, especially Julia and Isabel, were incredibly helpful and welcoming, making everyone feel at home. The social vibe was fantastic with daily activities, surf trips, yoga, and pool time. Bathrooms were clean, food was delicious, and I always felt safe. Only small improvements: Wi-Fi in the dorms and bed curtains for privacy.

Very nice hostel with a good pool! It’s not extremely social but they have activities planned in the evenings. It’s in a good distance to doctors house, but overall it is in a quiet neighborhood

Nice people but I wouldn’t say it’s the moooost authentic Sri Lankan experience, it’s a bit isolating bc there’s a pool etc and the hostel has so many fun activities so you kinda don’t wanna leave 😭 literally two min away was the best restaurant ever!! So cheap food

Couldn't have asked for a better property. It's got everything a backpacker or anyone needs. Highly recommend staying here.
