The Doctor's House

Wij zijn zo onaardig ontvangen. Niemand begroette ons en ze maakte gelijk een probleem voor onze tuk tuk. Met stem verheffing werden we ontvangen. We zouden de enige gasten zijn en daarom hebben we besloten om er niet te blijven slapen.

Overrated place. The dorms look good but no sockets or lightts near beds. There were 2 sockets in total for a 4 bed room. Bathrooms are sick but there were 2 shared bathrooms for a 4 bed and an 8 bed room.

So I came back after coming here 2 years ago and they've not updated it. It's loud on party nights but we knew that. for 2 nights we were almost the only people staying, it was empty, I know it's low season but.... The staff were unhelpful and couldn't recommend anything at all. The drivers outside were rude to our taxi man. no security on party nights to check who goes near the rooms. Our room was clean but my friends dorm sheets smelt. The food is more expensive so we didn't eat here.

This is not a hostel and might not be ideal for solo travelers. There's no dedicated common area, just a restaurant and bar that could be pricey for budget backpackers. The dorm room is clean and spacious but there's no AC so it can get pretty hot. They do host parties on Wednesdays until midnight and there’s an after party just next to it so could be a convenient option for those nights, saving you from taking a late night tuk tuk ride

If you are into partying you should go there on Wednesday and Sunday. If not, do not go there on these days. The party was good, about 200 people, even tho it was a wednesday off-season. Rooms are nice, cleanliness was ok, outdoor shower was cold but nice. There is not much to do in the area other than surfing, but a Tuctuc ride to Mirissa takes about 10 minutes. The beach there is amazing. The food in the Hostel is really good, but also too expensive.

Would totally recommend staying here.

The private rooms are lovely but note that there is no hot water. The location is great but expect tourist prices! The Saturday market was great and we also snorkelled just opposite the doctor’s house with a sea turtle! If you love a partying at night and beaching in the day then this is a great place to stay!

Just spent one night but really liked the place. Only negative is no curtains but the rest is perfect!!

Enorm fijn verblijf gehad . Prachtige bungalow en prachtige buitendouche (helaas koud water). Niet de meest sociale plek, ik raad dan ook vooral aan om op de dagen te verblijven wanneer er party is. De feestjes zijn erg goed. De locatie is een beetje afgelegen dat vond ik zelf minder maar is wel perfect als je rust wilt opzoeken.

Very nice comfy & clean dorm with lovely outdoor bathrooms! Amazing shower! Súper nice location overlooking the beach (and you can see many tourtles every morning swimming around!!!!) They have a very nice restaurant with western food and parties a few times a week!! I would recommend to add some chilling hammocks.. pool.. for guest staying in the accommodation... in the garden.. not to be always at the restaurante if you want to read a book or have just a nap outdoors.. But overall a grea...

Really nice stay — very comfortable, with good food, great music and a lively party atmosphere. We stayed in the villa and everything was excellent. Only thing that could be improved is having hot water in the room’s shower, but apart from that, everything was perfect.

We had the best time staking at the Doctor’s house. We missed it the moment we went on. Great atmosphere.

We had an amazing stay at The Doctor’s House! The location is unbeatable—right by the beach, with the perfect mix of laid-back vibes and tropical charm. The vibe is unmatched—chill during the day and full of energy at night with music and friendly travelers. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful. The cocktails were top-notch and the food was delicious. Whether you're here to relax or party, this place strikes the perfect balance. Can’t wait to come back!

Probably one of my favourite stays in Sri Lanka ☺️ Everything was just perfect ! Great dorms, with a cool outdoor shower and super cheap price 👌🏽 Such a chill place, loved the little streets, the beach across is so nice to relax and I got free entrance to the party on Wednesday, which is great 👯‍♀️

We loved our stay. It was right on the beach where we snorkelled and swam with turtles! The night life was great as we stayed when there was an event happening on the Wednesday - the room allowed us free entry. The room was gorgeous with a lovely outdoor shower. We really loved the area and would 100% love to stay again!
