The Siem Reap Chilled Backpacker

- This hostel doesn’t provide a key for the locker which you must find a store to buy at unknown area. They said outside store but wasn’t clear which store I can buy it

- Dirt, mold on the walls, and the place smelled of alcohol and dampness. The listing said that towels were provided, but there were no towels. When we informed the receptionist that the room looked nothing like the photos, she said that the pictures were from seven years ago. When we told her that we had booked the room based on those photos and that they should be up to date, she stopped being polite and told us that if we didn’t like it, we could leave. We had to book a new hotel, and we didn’t know whether we would get a refund from Booking.

+ They arranged a pickup from the bus station. The initial service during check-in was nice.

- The hotel is overall pretty old and run down. It looks nothing like in the pictures. At first I thought the bathroom is just old, which would have been fine for me for this price. But when I used a tissue to kill a mosquito I noticed how incredibly dirty the bathtub actually was. I told the guy at reception and showed him the dirty tissue. He didn't really seem to care and just said that the cleaning staff is already out of the building. Only after I asked I was allowed to change rooms. While I was packing up my stuff I could hear him run water in the new room and the tub was wet when I arrived. I started to look more detailed at the cleanliness of the new room and was shocked. The toilet seat had some dirt on it, so it wasn't really cleaned. But the worst part was the sheets and linen. A tiny stain here or there is normal for this price. But these sheets looked absolutely disgusting and had blood and other stains on both beds. There was no other empty room though I doubt it would have looked any cleaner if there was. So I decided to go to another hotel. They apologized for my inconvenience but didn't offer to give me my money back for the two nights I had already paid. Don't be fooled by the fake pictures and probably fake reviews. I can't recommend this place at all.

+ The facilities were the fine it was the staff that was the problem

- I asked the receptionist to look after my bag. She said that they didn’t have room near the reception so that I should move my bag to the table in front of them and they would look after it. I come back at the end of the day to find out 1000$ had been taken from my bag. The receptionist did not in fact look after my bag and “coincidentally” they weren’t any cameras where she told me to leave the bag. I would never in my life return to this place and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone ever!

- No me gustó nada, habitación y baño sucio, ruidoso, personal poco dispuesto a ayudar.

+ L’emplacement

- Catastrophique ! Nous avions réservé deux lits en dortoir mixte. Le dortoir est sale, rempli de poussière et ne correspond absolument pas au photo (il y avait une toile d’araignée dans l’angle du lit). Du coup, nous avons décidé de changer pour une chambre privée. Elle était également poussiéreuse et la salle de bain remplie de moisissure (le pommeau de douche une horreur). Nous avons fait usage du service de Laudry 24h. Le linge n’était pas prêt en 24h, mais nous prenions la route alors on a été obligé de le récupérer. Notre linge était encore humide et sale (tâches encore présentes) avec les odeurs de transpiration encore présente. Nous avons juste l’impression que notre linge n’a pas été lavé. On a été obligé de retourner dans une autre blanchisserie. En bref un très mauvais hôtel et cher. Nous déconseillons fortement cette hôtel car il y a mieux et moins cher ailleurs dans Siem Reap (nous avons fait un autre hôtel par la suite) !

+ La piscina

- Llegué a la habitación y olía super mal, había un hombre en la cama de al lado mía con dos botellas de wisky y plátanos en la cama y la cama sucia , la peste provenía de ese lugar. Pregunté al chico de recepción si era posible una toalla y me dijo que no tenía toallas. Tal como entre en la habitación a los 10 min me busqué otro Hostel y me fui .

+ Niente. La posizione che non era distante dal centro.

- La stanza era sporca, piena di capelli, e escrementi di topi e lucertole dappertutto. Il bagno orribile, la tenda della vasca lurida. Le tende delle stanze schifosamente sporche. Ogni angolo dell'intero b&b sudicio e lugubre. Ho visto Ostelli di ogni genere, ma questo sembra essere il peggiore. Ti dicono che affittano le moto, ma è ingannevole perché il prezzo è per meno di 12 ore e le moto sono da rottamare. Se avete la possibilità statene lontani, oppure meglio dormire su di una panchina sul lungo fiume.

- I got bed bugs here. At least the morning staff was helpful but still denying that this every occured in the hostel. Please clean or change the mattresses, sometimes is not the fault of the hostel but the hostel have the responsibility to do a check up and pest control once in a while

+ Location

- Smoking is allowed in the common areas and the pool, especially in the restaurant as well, I do not wish to eat a meal or work on my blog whilst having someone smoking next to me, it's disgusting. The staff were uncooperative and I became frustrated and disappointed when I asked a question they always asked why I wanted to do that. They wanted me to do what they wanted but were not interested in me as a customer. I was booked for 8 days and left after I left after two nights and moved to another hostel. The owner did not have the decency to follow up on my complaint or offer a refund.

+ Placeringen var dejlig, super skønt personale, lækre fascilitater og samlingspunkter. Sengene var behagelige og dejligt med en ordentlig dyne

- Der var en del myg på værelset, men dem er jeg også god til at tiltrække...

+ L'emplacement au calme et pas si loin de l'animation de pub street. Le resto/bar et piscine. Possibilité de louer un scooter pour les visites des temples. Chambre spacieuse.

+ Staff cordiale, possibilità di noleggiare bici e scooter, due bagni per dormitorio con acqua calda e doccia grande. Ci hanno fatto fare il check in alle 13 invece che alle 14

- C’è scritto che la reception è 24/7 ma quando siamo arrivate alle 5.30am non c’era nessuno in giro e abbiamo dovuto aspettare che arrivasse alle 7 per chiedere dove poter lasciare i bagagli

+ I liked the social aspect of this hostel. Not too loud but enough people to chat with and get the hostel vibe! Staff were great, pool is amazing, food was great, took a while to make but was delicious and very reasonably priced! Staff let us stay around at the property way after check out as our bus wasn’t until late, which was great! Pool table is cool, and the daily drinks specials were a great touch!

- Beds are really uncomfortable, we got the room with two singles and they were like lying on a plank of wood. I’m not sure if that’s because they are old or if that’s how they are meant to be. Shower curtain was covered in mould. Like the bathroom stunk of mould. The bedroom floor was also pretty dirty when we arrived. TV wasn’t plugged in and there wasn’t even a cable to plug it in. Saw a few cockroaches in the bathroom as well. The whole room needed a deep cleaning, it was subpar and the only saving grace was the small amount we spent on it. I guess you get what you pay for, cheap = mould/dirty. No where to eat outside food, no fridge or communal cooking area. So kind of stuck with either the onsite restaurant or eating out. Music in the bar is 2000’s hits on repeat, and too loud to even have a conversation. Would be cool to mix it up a bit with some quieter different music! Also there was no where to fill up drink bottles or get free drinking water. Have to go and buy water but then no fridges in rooms so can’t even keep it cool! I guess you really do get what you pay for here in terms of room. If the room was better then everything else would’ve been okay but because the room was so bad it made it more unpleasant than enjoyable.

+ A grand old hotel converted to a backpackers. I had a private room which was nice. It is a little faded and rough around the edges, but for me, that adds to the charm of the place. Who wants sterile and new! The showers were hot and high pressure, not a combination you get every day in S E Asia! They can hire you a scooter but had none the day i wanted one. The place directly across the street helped out and seemed honest and fair. A great place.
