Staff were nice but the wifi is really bad didn’t work in the room at all and kept login you out. No events or atmosphere either, the inside was also very dated. The adventure hostels in town are much better

not clean at all, other Hostels have more activities and are closer to the city

The mattress on the bed were worn down in a u shape right through the entire Center making it super uncomfortable to sleep. Few bathrooms/toilets for the number of guests. The receptionist on the day started arguing with me for instructions he didn’t clearly provide, making it quite unpleasant. The location is quite convenient though.

I dunno, just didn’t enjoy myself, but hardly anything to actually complain about! Just wasn’t my cup of tea. A bit far away from the good stuff too.

The wifi didn’t work at all.

Would not stay here again. The beds were horribly uncomfortable and creaked with every movement. There was only a single toilet/shower serving several rooms on each floor. And it felt like the majority of people were long term people working in the area, which created a weird social vibe.

It was okay. Expensive for what it is but it’s Queenstown. Main issue was that there are not enough bathrooms for the number of people in the hostel. There are as many bathrooms as there are kitchens. People were always waiting.

Based on previous reviews, I had higher hopes for this hostel. It did the trick for our 2 night stay, but overall I’m disappointed and unimpressed. I think a 6 is a fair rating. Most of the guests there are long-termers. It’s a very cliquey vibe. They occupy most of the common space for the entire day. The building gets really cold (they open the windows even if it’s 5 degrees outside). And staff clean during the least convenient times (i.e. 8:30 AM as I’m trying to make breakfast)...

Good stay at Flaming Kiwi. I booked one of the private cabins and found it very comfortable and clean. The hostel overall is well-maintained and has a relaxed atmosphere. Great location within walking distance to the center. A solid option if you're looking for a quiet and clean place in Queenstown

Second time staying at Flaming Kiwi and it still delivers! I stayed in the private cabins this time. The common areas are really cozy and having 3 kitchens is a huge plus, you never have to wait to cook. It’s a great spot for solo travelers who want a friendly but chilled atmosphere. Definitely recommend it!

I am a solo female traveler and I absolutely loved my stay at FKBs!!! The people I met here were very kind and welcoming and I loved getting involved in the Hostel’s Games and Movie nights! Throughout my stay the hostel was cleanly and spacious, I will definitely be back!!

Very good hostel, well run, nice manager and staff. Clean and in great location in Queenstown. Social hostel also suitable for more mature travellers, you get a good sleep here. I would stay again

Flaming kiwi is one of the best hostels that I’ve stayed at in my life. Not only is the property super convenient and very well kept/clean. The staff/all the guests make you feel like family. I didn’t intend to stay in QT this often but just kept coming back. It’s become my little home base for my travels around the South Island. Was one of my favourite hostels to date. The staff are wonderful and make you feel welcome

Stayed in a cabin with ensuite and it was perfect for a 1 week ski trip! There was enough space for me with my snowboard bag and all my gear. The cabins were brand new and well ventilated, with a great heater and excellent hot water with good pressure. Josh from reception was very helpful before and during the trip. Kitchens inside hostel were kept clean. Cardrona bus stops outside, Remarks bus is an easy 5 min walk. Quiet part of town and close to 2 supermarkets. Loved this cabin and hostel!

Fantastic hostel for everything you want as a solo travel except the social atmosphere. Stayed during the snow season and the hostel had a lot of long term visitors. There was no social atmosphere at all. Otherwise, great location, clean hostel and comfy beds!

I had a great stay at this hostel! The staff were super friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, and the location was perfect—close to the town center, library and supermarket. The common areas were cozy and made it easy to meet other travelers. Also, they have a lot of free social events. Would definitely stay here again!
