The Backyard Hostel

DONT come here if you want your valuables to be safe ! The lockers are outside of the room and the locks itselves are pretty trashy. The first lock broke when I wanted to close it, so I got another locker. I locked this one when I went to sleep. When I woke up the next day and opened it my camera was stolen. Someone was able to break open the locker without much effort and stole my stuff :((( So I would never ever come here again. The people that work there are very nice though and tried to help

Positives - Amelia was friendly, the location is perfect and the nasi goreng breakfast was delicious. Negatives - I didn’t know that there is no hot water. I stayed in a solo room and there were spider webs everywhere and the room smelled like a public bathroom the entire time mixed with the naphthalene. Also, the sheets and towels didn’t smell like they were properly washed.

I stayed in the private room for one night. It had clearly not been cleaned: there were used menstrual pads in the bathroom.

Lovely vibe and very intimate, which was nice. 'Free breakfast' was limited to one egg, despite there being plenty. The 'one egg rule' was an example of some slightly odd staff.

Very chill hostel, I enjoyed my time here! The best part was the staff and the things they organized. We had a lovely family dinner that we cooked together, which made it very easy to meet people. The small backyard was cute to chill at and the location was great!! Would definitely recommend if your looking for a social but chill hostel! The dorms are quite noisy and close to the chill area so keep that in mind if you are just here to sleep early.

De locatie van het hostel is echt perfect, veel restaurants op loopafstand. Ik vond zelf het hostel alleen niet heel sociaal. Er werden niet echt activiteiten georganiseerd.

fühlten uns sehr wohl, gute lage, nahe an vielen restaurants und bars.

Fijn hostel, personeel is super vriendelijk en Desi maakt heerlijke ontbijtjes. Ze helpen ook graag mee met het boeken van tours of kijken naar andere opties voor bijvoorbeeld vervoer. De kamers zijn alleen heel gehorig, de oproepen tot gebed in de ochtend klinken hard door in sommige kamers (vooral als je in het bovenste bed ligt). Overall een hele goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding!

Rooms are cool and the beds are really comfy. Struggled with the noise outside the rooms, the common area and kitchen is right next to the rooms so it makes it super noisy particularly at breakfast time. Location of the bathrooms means you have to walk through the communal area and kitchen to go which feels a bit uncomfortable

loved my stay, super social, nice dorms, common space and kitchen facilities. Family dinner 2/3 times a week and Julia is a super host and took us to night markets etc! Would totally recommend!

Super sweet spot to explore Jogja from!! Had the most chill atmosphere, lovely friendly people, everything was clean but relaxed.

Amazing hostel! Really nice staff and the breakfast is super! Very clean, they have a kitchen, in the shower is shampoo and body wash. You can rent scooters and a lot of tour options. Very happy with my stay!

I have been so great here at the hostel, cozy and feels like home ! And free breakfast, nice !!!

I had a very pleasant stay here, the service and hospitality was very good and I felt really taken care of! Lovely staff and the beds were super comfortable. It felt like you were at home which I appreciateted. Would definitely stay here again☺️

I really loved my stay here and extended two times (partly also because I just loved Yogya). It is a rather small hostel but I always feel like in small hostels you can connect more easily and the atmosphere was just really sweet and homey?! So we went out for food together and to the Bar area close by

Overall is good. They even provide free breakfast. I stayed in the dorm with 3 level bunk bed. But unfortunately it was quite warm on top (only at this bed) because the room was cool and nice.

One of the loveliest hostels I’ve been too. The staff is so nice, always up to chat and making the place feel like home for a few days. The facilities were good and the hostel was social, it was really easy to meet people. The only thing I would improve is some hooks next to the outdoor sinks to hang up your towel and wash bag. Other than that 10/10

Great hostel with an awesome vibe. Free breakfast was a nice bonus, the staff were super friendly, and the common areas made it easy to hang out and meet people. Good location, great price, and solid kitchen facilities. Would definitely stay again.
