Eco-Hostel Mayachik San Juan La Laguna

I absolutely loved the place. So did my daughter. The food was exquisite and affordable. The folks there were so kind and helpful. The solar showers and composting toilets were brilliant. We made friend after friend. I will not soon forget the entire adventure. And, it was an adventure! Pearl and Evelyn were among the many standouts! Thank you so much!!! We'll see you again. Michael

Great relaxing stay

we had a lovely stay at Mayachik, the room and facilities are amazing and Evelyn the host went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. would highly recommend!

We immediately extended our stay here from 3 nights to 4. The staff are lovely, the resultant tasty and great value, and the view from our room was incredible. It is abit of a walk from the boats, but it makes for a lovely quite escape from the bustle in town. Showers were great, and the best composting toilets I've used. Couldn't recommend this spot more.

lovely onsite restaurant serving delicious food wherever you need it, host was welcoming and accomodating, private room was spacious, location is a bit out of the way. overall a nice stay, good place to relax and recharge.

Everything was fine and the reception is very helpful.

Super endroit au calme et entouré de verdure ! Une plateforme de yoga pour compléter le tout Le personnel est très gentil et nous avons vraiment été bien accueillies. Nous avons également réalisé un tour "culture" hyper complet et riche avec Francisco dans San Juan, un artiste et guide local. Nous avons vraiment adoré !

The hostel is perfect. The staff was really nice. The dorm was clean, enough space for everyone, 2 bathrooms with showers within the 8 bed dorm, private lockers, eco toilet. You can reach everything by foot. Nothing more than 15min walk. I highly recommend this hostel if you want to stay in San Juan La Laguna :)

Wunderschönes Hostel in ruhiger Lage, der Garten und die Atmosphäre laden zum verweilen& entspannen ein. Von dort aus lassen sich auch tolle Wanderungen starten- große Empfehlung für diesen tollen Ort in san Juan 🌿😍✨

Très bel hostel, calme et propre. Les dortoirs sont grands et la cuisine aussi. Par contre c’est vraiment loin du centre. Le chemin pour s’y rendre n’inspire pas beaucoup la sécurité, il y a beaucoup de chiens errants

We had a wonderful stay in MayAchik! It’s a lovely place a bit further away from the touristy area and fully surrounded by nature. All facilities are clean, the food is delicious and the people are very friendly and helpful. We did the long hike (2h) to Rostro Maya with one of their guides and really enjoyed the whole tour. On the way down, we walked past some corn and coffee plantations with some beautiful views on the lake. We would highly recommend staying in this place !!

Jolie auberge dans les hauteurs mais pas grand chose à faire ni à voir et dortoirs très petits Je regrette également qu’en tant que clients de l’auberge on doive systématiquement payer une taxe en plus si on mange au restaurant de l’auberge

The staff here were so lovely and the food in the restaurant was great. It was a shame that there were no lockers in the dorm rooms for valaubles and the place is quite a walk away from San Juan. It is, however, a lovely place to relax and detox for a few days.

Abgesehen von der Lage die am Rande von San Juan ist, ist dieses Hostel einmalig. Es ist sehr ruhig, aber auch in der Off-Season trifft man auf gleichgesinnte Solotravelers. Das Hostel hat ein eigenes Restaurant mit Veggie-Küche, eine Lavandería und bietet diverse Touren an. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und man fühlt sich fast wie in einem Hotel. Die Toiletten sind sauber und stinken überhaupt nicht, wie man es von Trockentoiletten erwarten würde. Ganz große Empfehlung!!

We really enjoyed our stay, only thing notable was about the time it took to get our dishes at the restaurant. We waited almost an hour for a plate of pasta and we were alone in the place. Also on the day we left we had to take a shuttle at 5am, the receptionist told us he would come with us in the morning to show us where to go, we waited but he never showed up, we ended up going by ourselves… Overall the place is amazing, it’s more about the staff i guess, although they’re very nice.

I loved the place I wished I had more time to be in Atitlán to enjoy this place, the prices were a bit high but consistent with the area, everything in this building was green, recyclable, reusable, the best place if you wanna get away from the city

The hostel is nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing that could be better is the check-in, since they didn't show us around, so we only knew after 3 days that there was a kitchen we could actually use. The restaurant closes super early as well.

We had a nice stay in the ladybug room. The toilets are compost toilets but do not smell bad at all, and the shower was nice and warm. There are also a couple of hammocks to hang out in which was really relaxing. We got breakfast here and the food was delicious. The only downside is that this hostel is far from the town center.

Personnel très accueillant et aidant. La propriété est un petit paradis un peu à l'extérieur de la plus belle ville du lac Atitlan (village très facilement accessible).Les ateliers de tissage et de cuisine proposés par l'hôtel valent la peine. Bon restaurant.
