They acted true to the name, saying there was a bed on the phone - upon arrival it turned out that the receptionist could barely speak, his friends were sitting at the table, and the bed was in a former cattle pen

There were bed bugs!!! The guy tried to gaslight me that there were some other insects coming from outside, but there were definitely bed bugs! They moved me to another room thank god, but did not sleep at all.

I have never been to such a filthy place. The place itself has great potential, but the way it is organized now is simply unhealthy to stay in.

Overall the staff was very kinda but the place is not clean at all. There was dirt in my bed, garbage between the bed and the wall, stains on every piece of furniture and random garbage everywhere. They ask you to “excuse our mess”, but it just seems as if they are not trying. Guests were drinking in the common space at 7am being loud. The shared shower and toilet were unusable as there was mud everywhere and the one toilet seat was broken. I wouldn’t recommend unless you have no other opt...

IMPORTANT: Sexual harassment by one of the volunteers (an old English man) towards women and LGBT+. Left early for this reason. The other volunteer in charge and the owner were informed. Hopefully the issue will be solved. This is why I’m lowering the score. Apart from that the hostel is great, everyone else was wonderful and there were very cute cats. The worst experience I've ever had in a hostel. Disgusting, dirty, makes you want to vomit. You must upload real and updated photos. The hostel was buried and it seems like a shantytown.

The hostel would be a great place, but needs lots of improvements. I may understand there's no budget and I've also been there in low season, but still, everything was left behind,it lacked control.

My stay in the Hug Center Hostel was sweet but short!! Anytime I come back to Burgas I'll be sure to stay here. James the manager was super nice, lovely to talk to, very helpful and kind!! ! It's located just a bus away from the center with markets nearby. Recommend!! Has kitchen place, fridge, and two lovely hangout areas, at the ground level and an outside rooftop sort of area. Very cozy!! My room even had leftover material to make bracelets and paint conches, shells and pebbles ^^ Lovely!

Upon arrival, James gave me a private room even though I booked a dorm. He made sure I felt comfortable and gave some tips about what to do. The hostel had a chill, friendly vibe. When something happened to me, James immediately understood how stressful it was for me and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and safe. How he handled it, made a huge difference. Would highly recommend!

Great for the price and the staff were accomodating. It had a true nomad feeling to it. The main issue was with security as there were no locks/codes on the door. Happy to recommend, though note lack of security.

We loved this hostel! The people were so friendly and welcoming. Shortly after we arrived we were invited to join to the beach and then we all cooked together. And the rest of the stay was just as good. This a is volunteer-run, volunteer-built place, so set expectations accordingly, but for me, this was one of the best places we stayed on our trip. My friend and I booked this hostel to stay for a week, not knowing what to expect. But by the end of our stay, we left feeling like we found a second home. James and the volunteers have done a wonderful job making us feel at home and at ease. They have nurtured a wonderful and quirky environment that makes you very comfortable being yourself and you get familiar with the place very quickly. To summarise, if you're looking for a memorable hostel experience, I would definitely recommend Hug Center

The stay at the HUG Hostel was great! I met Irene which was the responsible caretaker of the hostel at the moment for my stay. She is really lovely and super friendly! The hostel has everything you need. A kitchen, a warmshower and a clean bathroom. Thanks for everything!

I simply didn’t feel comfortable in this hostel, there were no locks on the doors and it wasn’t very clean either.
