Hostel Vrba

Cant quite understand how this place has so many good reviews. Had so many bizarre interactions with the lady running it. Don’t even ask to get in after 8pm because she will tell you to book another hostel, and she’s almost never at reception. No place to socialize, especially considering the kitchen (only common area) closes at 10pm and she will push you out of there. Rooms are also tight quarters. Went to turn hostel after and much better vibes. Do not recommend this place at all

A bit dull in terms of ambience. Getting to the bus station is a bit of a chore.

It's a good hostel to stay in, but during my two night stay I was absolutely covered in some kind of bites that are still red itchy and sore a night later. There was absolutely no atmosphere, I only actually saw one other person the three days I was there and my room was me and some empty bunks. But it's right near the Christmas markets and town centre. Staff is really helping in giving you some ideas of what to do in Ljubljana

Great location and great staff. The rooms are absolute saunas in the summer time, so hot I was literally dripping sweat just trying to sleep. And the beds are quite bad. The facilities are pretty bare bones but the location is awesome and if you’re just looking for somewhere to rest your head it’s good. Staff is very kind and helpful!! Thank you so much!

Persoonlijk vond ik het hostel erg fijn om in te verblijven. In de keuken vond je snel andere mensen waar je mee kon optrekken. Verder was alles brandschoon en had receptionist VEEL te vertellen en gaf hij mij allemaal tips mee. Wel vond ik het jammer dat er niet 24/7 iemand op de receptie zat. Ook vond ik de prijs van €45 per nacht te hoog voor wat je kreeg. Wel had ik de eerste 2 nachten een 4-persoonskamer voor mezelf. Verder het goed om te weten dat je “maar” kunt inchecken tot 2...

After traveling a bit in Slovenia and staying at different hostels, this one was a disappointment. The vibe was off from the beginning, with a rather cold greeting, the house smelled, the facilities were not super clean and everything was furnished with utter lovelessness. Really only spent the minimum amount of time there. As a female solo traveler, I found it weird to be placed in a four bed room with three other men. Would not go back here, although the location was great.

Cons: No rules to be signed at entrance, so I guess it was fine for some people to have sex in the dorm while people were trying to sleep. Kitchen without oil, so makes it quite difficult to cook. Dorm was really hot with no ventilation, so air was of poor quality when we were waking up. Staff was unpleasant on many occasion m. I would not recommended this hostel. Pros: The kitchen has enough equipment and was well located

A basic but functional hostel, bed was uncomfortable with huge slant in mattress and very lumpy pillow, a lot of noise from the restaurant and pubs across the street until 2-3am on weeknights. Each room had multiple fans however they needed to be plugged into our personal sockets next to our beds so we couldn’t use them overnight due to needing to charge phones etc for the next day. Great location, walking distance to everything in Ljubljana

Only the kitchen is the common area, no social vibe to it at all. Whilst the lady working at the desk offers a lot of information, during checkout she came and rushed us 5 minutes before checkout whilst we were chatting which was rude. The room was not very clean in the corners there was thick layers of dust which looked untouched for a while. And the rooms were so hot, yes there are fans but they don’t reach the top bunks.

Okay place to stay. Good location. Minimal vibe, if you are looking for some chill alone time this is for you.

Ok verblijf gehad in Vrba. Hostel was wat verouderd, in de avond had ik pech en geen warme douche. Locatie is prima, er is ook een laundry service mogelijk wat fijn is.

The location for this hostel is great! So close to the centre and an easy walk. The staff were lovely and helpful. Kitchen was well stocked and nice cosy common room.

Mention spéciale pour cet établissement, tout est parfait : accueil, propreté, agencement, proximité du centre ville. La salle commune est spacieuse et cosy, elle permet de belles rencontres.

We loved this hostel!! Super cozy and comfortable, in a great location, and very homely. The kitchen is a perfect spot to sit, play cards, and meet people, everyone was super respectful and very friendly. The owner was really kind to us and gave us some great recommendations on what do in Ljubljana - thank you! The only thing I'll say is that in the female only dorm the shower is a bit dodgy, but this really didn't bother us and I'd definitely stay here again :)

10/10 for sure. Prime location. Local, warm, family-oriented staff. Extremely clean and practical. The common space is intimate (kitchen and a couch) and with the right people it really lights up!

L’emplacement est super ! Quand on arrive, la dame de l’accueil est super gentille et elle peut vous donner de bonnes recommandations pour sortir boire un verre, faire la fête, manger, découvrir la ville etc… les salles communes sont propres et la dame tient beaucoup à ce que ça reste propre ! Allez y les yeux fermés !

Very clean and comfortable hostel in a great location. Not a very social vibe with no good communal space, staff don’t really interact with you. Nice if you want a quiet chill spot, bad for socializing.

Auberge très propre , le personnel est adorable!! Elle nous donne pleins de conseils et on se sent à l’aise! L’auberge se situe à 10 minutes du centre et 30 minutes de la gare. Un petit plus serait d’avoir un peu plus d’espace dans la cuisine et un salon pour rencontrer des gens :) merci

Great hostel near Ljubljana city center! Stayed in the 6-bed female dorm - comfy bed, personal power socket and locker. The room felt cramped when full as there wasn’t much space for bags and moving around. Bathrooms and kitchen very clean. Sort of odd that there are signs everywhere with warnings about cleaning and fines if not followed, but wasn’t a problem. 25 min walk to bus station and 10 min walk to city center. Felt very safe, appreciated the recommendations, and would stay again!

Hostel Vrba you have a nice and helpful reception. Good advice for the holiday. The hostel is made more for sleeping and not so much for social interaction. However it was clean and welcoming.

Mitarbeiter waren super lieb und die Badezimmer waren sauber und groß! Die Lage ist auch super. Obwohl die Küche groß ist und das meiste bietet hat man nichz ganz das klassische Hostelfeeling. All in all aber super!

Make sure to read the fine print re check-in times, baggage hold, payment etc. If stipulations don’t align with your needs, don’t go b/c they are very inflexible. I had a night bus and could not stay in common area after baggage holding hours. Be prepared to be scolded at any minute for infringements you haven’t even committed yet (uncomfortable). Rooms are on the smaller side. Can be noisy if room is on the river side with bars. Bathrooms and kitchen are OK.

Great hostel, good vibes. Clean and a big common area with a well equipped kitchen. They are really strict about the check in times. The doors of the hostel are closed before 3 pm

Very helpful and friendly staff with lots of advice. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Easy enough to walk to the centre of the city. Oven was out of order and no soap in bathrooms.

ein bisschen wie eine Jugendherberge, allerdings gibt es keine Vorhänge an den Betten.. sonst sehr sauber, gut ausgestattete Küche und Bäder waren sauber

Everything was perfect

Closed reception from 10am-3pm surprised me, I should have read the listing better, but still not super convenient. Bathrooms fine. Bed comfy. Not much space for the common area kitchen and no other common spaces so difficult to hang out at the hostel.
