Nalin and Song Hostel (Sigiriya Hostel)

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Private room smelled bad, roaches, no hot water. I asked nalin about tours and he kept saying “later later” so I walked around to ask a bunch of people. The “budget tours” at the yellow sign laundry mart 20m down the road from turn off were way cheaper so I booked all my tours and transpo thru them. Nalin then told me tour prices and I said no thanks because I had found cheaper. Song then called them to yell at them for stealing business and threatened to call polic...

Staff were very nice, however there was no blankets in the rooms and they charged an extra fee to turn on the air conditioner. Overall the property was cheap but it felt a bit disingenuous. There was no real atmosphere.

the hostel itself was very nice. good location and very lovely with a lot of hammocks. the family was also very friendly, except the father/owner (?). he gave us such bad vibes and made us feel uncomfortable all the time. ruined the whole stay. left this hostel and moved to another one after 2 nights (travellers hostel, such a nice place!)

Mon expérience dans cette auberge était plutôt mauvaise. Nous avons demandé des couvertures, le propriétaire nous a dit que nous n'en avions pas besoin. Pendant la nuit, ils coupent l'électricité, ce qui a également coupé le ventilateur. Il n'y avait personne pour répondre à nos questions le jour où nous sommes arrivés donc nous avons trouvé un safari ailleurs. Il est donc allé engueuler le vendeur en précisant que nous étions "ses clients". Je ne recommande pas cet établisseme...

I’ve booked here for a night and when I arrived there was no one… I waited and call to see if someone could receive me but no one. Plus I started to do a round to see if I could find someone but it was empty and there was a rifle in an open room… well I had to change and go to another place

Staff is friendly but I would be terrified as a women to stay here, one old man walking around in a towel was the only person we saw on arrival. He is nice but I can’t say I felt comfortable

I'm not sure if this is a real hostel. It reminded me more of a guesthouse. The location isn't bad, it's quiet and you can do some star gazing. It's probably better for a group than single visitors. The mixed bedroom of 8 reminded a prison cell a bit and sadly it only had two lockers so if the room is packed, it's tough to lock your valuables.

When I booked it said breakfast and AC, but they don’t offer breakfast and you have to pay extra if you want the AC which is ridiculous. Also pretty sure the sheets were not cleaned because they felt sandy. The family is nice but there is drama with the people in the village about getting tourists business and the host was trying to speak to me about it which I didn’t really like.

The hostel was okay, but I would not go there again. There was no good hostel vibe and very dark rooms. Would be okay for one night, which is (in my opinion) also enough time to visit Sigiriya.

love this place. staff are amazing! has to be my favourite place I stayed in srilanka. Asked us what we doing each day and gave suggestions! felt safe and met lot of people 😘😘😘

Awesome family hostel. Very kind and accommodating. Outside It’s like you are living in a safari. Amazing view of sacred rock. Bedrooms very comfortable. Location is nice , away from the main road but still walking distance from Sigiriya rock.

Wir haben 3 Nächte hier verbracht. Die ganze Familie war sehr freundlich und hat uns immer geholfen und viel mit uns geredet. Die Unterkunft war sauber und das Frühstück jeden Morgen sehr gut. Am Nachmittag haben sie uns gratis verschiedene Snacks gebracht und wir konnten jederzeit nach Wasserflaschen fragen, welche nicht verrechnet wurden. Weil es viele wilde Elefanten gibt, haben sie uns am Abend auch mal kostenlos mit dem TukTuk gefahren.

Superbe !! On est bien accueillis, le personnels est très gentil. Ils nous ont conseillé, prépare un petit déjeuner super bon et même fait goûter des fruits du jardin ! Ils nous ont également aidé à trouver un taxis rapidement et à un prix réduit. Je recommande

Nalin is een hele lieve host die alles voor je wil regelen. Ook is hij oprecht geïnteresseerd, neemt hij de tijd voor je en waardeert je mening. Nalin heeft ons verblijf in Sigirya extra waardevol gemaakt. Het hostel is van alle gemakken voorzien zoals airconditioning, lockers, hangmatten, een fantastisch uitzicht en dus een eigenaar die je onder zijn hoede neemt. Wat ons betreft zeker een aanrader voor wie houdt van persoonlijk contact in een natuurlijke omgeving.

Beautiful location, very peaceful.

Overall enjoyed my stay. Everything was clean, beds were comfortable, wifi was good, its close to Lion rock and pidurangala. Also few restaurants/ groceries nearby. However has a bit of an odd vibe, as theres not really a social area and its more of a homestay. Enjoyed the cooking class and breakfast was nice, but there is also no lockers and couldnt really lock the dorm rooms as its a bolt on the door and people are in/out different times. Did feel a little pressured for tours/services.

Good and calm/quiet hostel, less than 10min walk from the center. The host is great, very attentive, and helps you with anything you need. They served a very good breakfast!

We had such a lovely stay here, Nalin and Song were so accommodating and had such nice little touches such as having breakfast ready for you and making a homemade dinner, they even helped sort out any things we needed such as taxi’s, experiences, tuktuks and arak. Would recommend! Thank you

The hosts family are warm and welcoming. They made sure of the comfortable stay. They are well connected and offer you tips and discounts on various activities.

I loved my stay with Narin and Song. They were so friendly and they organised so many great experiences and things to do. Being around their family was a very wholesome experience yet sociable enough with other tourists. I'd definitely recommend
