Base Camp Anchorage

Check-in at the hostel is at 4 PM, get there early & you will be charged a fee for waiting. This also applies if you check out & wait in the lounge area. There is a fee for going on hikes, using the sauna, the floating pool, and borrowing anything. The hostel is a bit away from downtown but close to the bus stop. The staff wasn't the friendliest, I felt uncomfortable at times. The stairs are very squeaky and so are the bunk beds. Also mold in the bath. But quite social and I made some friends.

Didn’t stay there, I had to cancel due to weather conditions and reschedule. However, they are very strict with their terms and conditions, therefore, I had to pay and it looks like I spend the night there.

The best of the hostel was the personnel and the atmosphere. On the other hand, the hostel is quite far from the center.

The place is OK with the exeption of dorm n°8 located in the basement. It was dark, cold and humid. Bacause of this I did not enjoy my stay much. Olé was very nice, but the girls working there less friendly. To go to city u can take bus or walk 40 minutes.

Excellent stay, and would definitely go back. It's a bit unfair of to have selected the 3/5 for "value for money", as I stayed there on the night before 4th July on my way through Anchorage and there is no such thing as "value for money" in and around the 4th in places like Anchorage.

It's OK. They charge extra for basically everything so bring your own towels. It's a camping style hostel for hikers, not my style of hostel but staff was OK. Loud in the main floor. I won't come back to be honest.

This was a super nice hostel for traveling around Alaska. The staff were great, the other travelers were really nice, and the hostel had plenty of resources on planning trips and travel. Lots of books to read about what to do in Alaska and Anchorage and a mini library to choose from too! Free coffee and breakfast in the morning. Great spot to start or end your trip in Alaska in! They also have chickens in the backyard and bikes to rent!

Great place to start your time in Alaska! Everyone was friendly and had great recommendations. The all female dorm was nice. We kept the window open at night because it was a little hot but the window made it perfect! The chickens are so friendly.

Location was good, staff member I met was nice. All the locking doors made the place somewhere between feeling safe and wondering why so many locks... The show removal area was, well, stinky! Not bad for one night, but was glad it was one night.

I really enjoy my stay! I love how they have a sauna & float tank. They have three chickens in the backyard super friendly and cute. The staff is so kind and super helpful. I was able to communicate with the staff easily about my delay in travels.

Pretty comfortable

This was my first time staying at a hostel and it exceeded my expectations. Dawson and Oley were super nice hosts. The extras included a teepee with a fire pit, an outdoor sauna, and an immersion salt water tub. I enjoyed all 3! The free pancake breakfast was delicious and created a great family like atmosphere. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Great experience at Basecamp! The hostel has all the facilities, staffs are very nice and helpful, they arrange regular hikes to Chugach mountain & has bikes for rent, 2 minutes walking distance from the bus stop, kitchen is well equipped, and maintain cleanliness all the time. Highly recommended.

Super helpful staff and convenient location. Had everything we needed. Bathroom was clean, nice shower, kitchen well equipped, easy access, good security.

What an incredible place! I had an amazing experience at Base Camp Anchorage. I would recommend it to anyone stopping through anchorage!

Stayed at Base Camp for 2 nights in Anchorage. Staff and facilities were fantastic, and was able to meet several interesting people at the hostel. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice, clean, friendly staff. It’s located in a real Alaskan neighborhood. Close to stores. Nice laid back atmosphere
