Mackay Adventure Lodge

Not sure if our room was ever cleaned. Opened the door to an ant infestation, staff cleaned it after asking too. Shower parts were broke and missing, other peoples hair still on the walls of the shower… zero shower gel either and not refilled when room has apparently been cleaned. We have asked for a refund but have been completely ignored.

Great hostel and fun activities. Breakfast was lovely. I would recommend staying here.

Really good looking hostel, with a lot of rooms with bathroom, keys work with phone, so new to us but managed to get into it aha! Clean and very big, had a pool and the best was the breakfast included in the morning :)

Literally felt like a hotel one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed in. Little far from town

Really lovely hostel, very chill atmosphere with great communal spaces to relax. Make sure to look at the website as theres packages that include activities, like wake boarding and a platypus tour. Staff were so friendly and helpful as well. They were waiting at the bus stop to pick everyone up which was a complete surprise.

Great hostel! Modern building, clean rooms, clean bathrooms, nice kitchen. Shuttle to Greyhound. Hostel-organised trips to all relevant things to see nearby. Good wifi, nice swimming pool and supermarket right across the road. Friendly staff. The only disadvantage is that the hostel is quite far from the city center, however Mackay is not really the type of place where you visit the city center. Curtains for the bunks would be nice.

A hostel that's far from the city center. The bathrooms are a bit dirty. The staff is quite unfriendly. I wouldn't recommend it.

Everything was great, I just would like them to clean bathrooms more detailed especially in dorm rooms. The shower was never cleaned well there was hair on the floor even after cleaning.

Amazing! Stayed here a couple of times, it is very clean, dorms and bathrooms are the best I’ve seen in Aus and the social area is amazing. Both tour experiences are amazing and Reuben is a fab tour guided. Definitely try the wakeboarding too! 100% recommend.

Absolutely wonderful. Best kitchen, bathroom, living area, eating area & outdoor chairs, including a pool. Next to a wake board park, interesting to watch & do. Easy parking, 2 min walk to the supermarket Aldi, comfortable dorm room. Everything is new & the lady at reception is very helpful. Security is great. I highly recommend.

Overall a very very nice hostel. Very clean and very nice social atmosphere. Spent Christmas here and it was one of the best i’ve had. Great barbecue, beer pong tournament and a pool party the day after to make it all perfect. Try wakeboarding aswell, very fun

Safe and clean accomodation

Very clean and great rooms with en-suite, breakfast was good too! Aldi is across the road and can watch wakeboarding from the bar next to the hostel however the hostel is very far from the centre if you want to do anything else while in Mackay you will need to catch a bus or Uber, common areas and pool area was great!

Nothing but love for this place and the staff! I had a wonderful time staying here, I felt right at home as the owners and the staff are so lovely and the lodge itself is very modern, spacious and clean. I wish I had spent more time here to try out wakeboarding, but I’ll be back. I highly recommend the sunrise wallaby tour and the platypus tour - Reuben and Michelle were fantastic tour guides. Made lots of friends with other travellers staying there, highly recommend.

I was in this hostel just for one night, and I had a good experience. And the breakfast is really good!

nice tv and good kitchen location is not the best, when you don't have a car aldi is right next to it:))) kinda unsocial

Lovely hostel, feels more like a hotel or house share if staying in a private room. Great value for money, room had tv and full access to applications with a lovely modern en-suite. Love that the hostel is on the wake park which is also a great activity you can do if staying for a day or two. Slightly out of centre of mackay but not bothered by this as we got collected and didn’t feel like we needed to leave hostel. Aldi opposite and can have nice day at wake park with happy hour beers in sun.
