It was a really nice stay with a friendly/family atmosphere. The location is perfect and they have an information board for events and museum in town👍
The building shows its age through dated carpets and a stale scent, but the cleanliness and value are undeniable for the price. The staff maintain a professional, reserved demeanor, efficient and polite with a subtle kindness reminiscent of classic German hospitality. While centrally located near CF Rideau & Parliament Hill, the area is frequented by the unhoused, so should be aware of the neighbourhood's active nocturnal nature. Great to meet fellow backpackers to travel together :)
Good to note that there is no rule regarding noise in this hostel. There was a party in the common area and since it is an old building you can hear the music, laughter and shouting really well from the rooms/dorms. The party lasted literally all night, until 7AM. I am absolutely not joking! When I went to bed at midnight I hoped they would lower the music soon, but when I woke up around 6:30 AM (I woke up multiple times during the night because of the noise) the party was still going strong.

- They should’ve vanished a policy even if people come from Ottawa they should let them in anyway it’s more money for them. It’s gonna be some quiet days over there. Think about it.

we had a great one night stay at this hostel. It was conveniently located near Byward market and not too far from being able to attend Winterlude ice sculptures in the park and skate on the Rideau canal. It's a very old house and could use some updates but the staff were all excellent and we had a great time!
