Spicy Hostel

Nice rooms, good location, clean but you could hear the music of the reception in your room all day. Near tram station. All in all i was disappointed because due to the reviews I was expecting a social hostel but never had it so hard to get to know people. No events, not many guests there and the staff could be more welcoming. They where hanging together and it felt like I was intruding a shared flat, like a group of friends you are not part of, or a party where you are just not invited to.

⚠️ Warning: This is not a real hostel, just an old apartment with shared rooms. Very dirty, noisy, badly maintained (broken door handles), and no facilities at all (no bar, no coffee, no dryer). I stayed 5 nights and couldn’t sleep. The high ratings on booking sites are misleading – other travelers agreed with me. Honestly, this place deserves max 6/10. Avoid it!

The owners of the place were kind and helpful but at night they joined the visitors and sang songs with them right in front of the room I stayed. There should not be any noise after the midnight in my opinion, I was really sick and was trying to sleep but could not because of this reason.

Our stay started alright. It wasn’t until the second night that the manager came into our room drunk past midnight while we were sleeping and woke us up saying what were we doing and said he was going to jump into our bed. At the time we didn’t know this was the manager (which makes it worse) and were super uneasy the rest of the night. Additionally quiet hours were not respected by the staff especially the manager making it hard to sleep. Also the sensor lights often go off while showering ...

This hostel advertised that it only accepts guests between the ages of 17-35. I would say the majority were over 35. I’m sure this hostel is great for certain folks but as a young solo female traveler this was not for me. Personally, I didn’t find this hostel social at all. No one goes out together besides the staff. I ended up leaving early and switching to a different hostel that was suited better for solo travelers.

The staff was very sweet but on their page they said it’s only people between 17-35, which it’s not. They take older people in as well. So if you are looking for a hostel with only young people. Choose another place.

If you are only looking for a place to sleep this hostel fits those requirements. However if you are looking to meet new people and explore with them this isn’t the hostel for you. There was No Atmosphere. The staff was okay, a few of themwere very loud and singing all the time. A staff member started to read reviews left on here at like 8pm and was complaining that people are upset and that she disagrees with everything written. Unfortunately because of this I won’t go back.

paper thin walls. it is an old apartment that had been turned into a hostel. some of the rooms are what would have been one large room if it was an apartment, but there is a closed door. thin walls were only a problem as the staff was loud (yelling and blasting movies) until after 2am, not enforcing their own quite hours. with respectful staff this could have been a great stay

Amazing staff, had a great time

This is my fourth time in Spicy, and definitely not the last! Best hostel I Budapest! Very cozy and familiar vibe, not big but the rooms are still very spacious and clean. Pub crawl was super fun. Perfect place both if you want to party with fun people, or just chill for a couple of nights. Elsa, the manager really puts in an extra effort for the guests but all the volunteers were LOVELY!

Great place to stay very welcoming and laid back. Would recommend

Loved this hostel! The fun staff were my favorite part, but the location, facilities, kitchen, and social space were all great. They offer outings, activities, and communal meals once in a while which is nice!

10/10 hostel. Clean, good staff, cheap. Super worth the visit, I’ll be back!

Had an amazing stay at Spicy, great location close to the main attractions, spacious floor plans, the facility was clean. However the staff were the real stars of the show. Very friendly and easy to talk to. Becky made everyone dinner and invited us out to karaoke and bar crawl. Alex was performing at an open mic and invited everyone, Arwin was also super friendly and even accommodated me an extra night just before the new year’s busy season. Highly recommended, will stay again.

Great stay! The staff was exceptionally friendly and fun and the bed was comfy. Great location as well for walking and all public transport.

Quite literally the nicest place I stayed in all of Europe. All of the volunteers made the place and adopted me into their circle immediately and I had such a good time. Going out, exploring the city, just chatting at home, honestly some of the best people I’ve ever met. Love you all x
