Seashell Guesthouse, Bar and Tattoos

- Avoid. Owners had a party with incredibly loud music that lasted until 8! in the morning, making it impossible to sleep. This was not advertised at all prior to booking, and by 4am only a few of the owners friends remained - yet music kept on going for another four hours. Rooms are not well isolated from sound. No curtains and in the attic so they get incredibly warm and light fully comes in at sunrise. Bed is not comfortable. Only one bathroom was functioning for a dorm of 8 and 4 private rooms. A real shame, it’s a nice building and but just ruined by the above.

- לא ממליצה בכלל להגיע למקום הזה. 1. החדר נמצא בעליית גג קטנה, ללא מיטה המזרן מונח על הרצפה. אין מזגן, התקרה נמוכה והחדר מתחמם בצורה קיצונית. המאוורר לא מספיק והחלונות כמעט לא נפתחים, כך שכמעט ואין אוויר והחום בלתי נסבל. 2. באמצע היום ניתקו את המים בדיוק בזמן שהתקלחתי. כשפנינו לבעל המקום הוא טען שזו בעיה בכל האי, אך עלינו לגג וראינו פועל שעובד על צינורות המים של ההוסטל עצמו. בדקנו וגם בשאר האי כן היו מים - כלומר נותקו המים ללא התרעה ונמסר לנו מידע שקרי. 3. לאורך כל היום למים היה ריח חזק של ביוב, גם בכיור וגם במקלחת, והם היו חומים ועכורים. בערב, כששטפתי פנים, חוויתי צריבה ושריפה בעור וריח חריף מאוד. 4. לא ניתן לנעול את החדר מבפנים המנעול תקול, ונאלצנו לאלתר חסימה עם חתיכת עץ. 5. למגבות ולמצעים היה ריח רע מאוד ולא נעים. 6. אין WIFI ואין מים חמים. הסיבה היא שאין חשמל קבוע באי אלא רק גנרטורים, וזה לא באשמת ההוסטל אך המידע הזה לא הובהר מראש ולא היה ברור בזמן ההזמנה. חוויה מאוד לא נעימה, חוסר שקיפות ותנאים ירודים. לא ממליצה

+ Seulement l'emplacement. Sauf qu'à connaître l'île on aurait choisi plutôt sur Saracen. On a dû payer à 20 $ par jour pour aller sur ces plages paradisiaques.

- La chambre sous le toit : un matelas par terre , des fenêtres qui s'ouvrent à peine. C'est une fournaise dans laquelle on est obligé de mettre le ventilateur à fond . 2 salles de bains avec les toilettes à l'étage au dessous pour les dortoirs et les chambres du haut. Elles sont très sales. On n'a pas vu de personnel. On n'a même pas su qui dirigeait cette guesthouse . On l'avait choisie en raison de l'appréciation donnée sur le site "fabuleux" et de son prix. On se demande comment ils ont obtenu cette note. Peut-être grâce aux jeunes qui ne sont pas regardants. Nous avons été très déçus. C'est le pire endroit où on a dormi depuis nos 5 semaines de périple.

- Établissement sale et peu entretenu - escaliers dangereux - pas de gel douche ni shampoing à disposition dans les salles de bain - peu d’ambiance - check out à 10h - toiture qui fuit à priori car mon sac à dos et mes affaires étaient trempés au réveil après un orage nocturne

- Chaleur dans la chambre sous les combles. Chiens aboyant la nuit. Rue bruyante tôt le matin Chère pour les prestations. Douches bouchées pas très hygiéniques.

+ Emplacement sur la plage

- Pas du tout aimé l'ambiance de cette auberge (ni même de l'île de Sanloem mais c'est un autre sujet), escalier dangereux avec des espaces de vides qu'il faut enjamber, je ne suis pas très grande alors imaginez la galère à chaque fois lol. Lits pas vraiment confortables, entouré d'une moustiquaire trouée, un ventilateur par personne (imaginez le bruit la nuit dans un dortoir de 8); il y avait toujours un groupe assis dans l'entrée avec les responsables, jamais eu de place pour m'assoir et profiter de l'espace commun. Une fois j'ai pu m'assoir sur un canapé à la propreté très douteuse, j'ai compris rapidement que c'était celui du chien. Je suis restée une nuit au lieu de deux initialement prévues tellement je me suis sentie mal à l'aise. J'y suis allée car j'avais reçu de bons commentaires mais je vois que je ne suis pas la seule à penser la même chose dans les derniers commentaires négatifs.

+ Chambres pas terrible, les uns sur les autres et il fait chaud. Les salles de bains étaient assez pratiques. La salle commune vue sur la plage est agréable. Le personnel est là sans être là. Ils sont souriants c'est déjà cool. Je n'ai pas accroché sur cette auberge.

+ Au bord de la plage, propriétaire super accueillant.

- De gros dortoirs pas forcément aménagés.

+ It was right on the beach. So close to everything you need in Koh Rong Sanloem!

- We stayed in the private room and it was VERY humid in there when we first checked in. It had windows that let the sun in all day because it didn’t have any blinds/curtains.

+ Truly the best hostel I have ever stayed in!Not just for its location literally on the beach, but for the friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The owners are so welcoming and have created such a beautiful and chill space for people at Seashell. We kept extending our stay as we didn’t want to leave! The hostel has tonnes of board games, comfy places to hang out (including hammocks on the beach) and activities like bonfire night, necklace/bracelet making and family dinners which make it really easy to chat to other travellers and make new friends, (I can be shy so this was really important for me.) All the beds in the dorms have their own mosquito net and fan as AC is not common on the island. The hostel breakfasts are delicious so many amazing options and all so fresh and healthy. There’s also a great selection of cafes and restaurants close by to try too. M’Pai Bay in particular is my idea of paradise, small, stunning scenery, not overdeveloped and just incredibly laid back. There are no cars, no noise pollution, no roads, you can simply switch your brain off and enjoy! I met the most incredible people during my time here, locals and travellers alike. There’s a real sense of community that I haven’t felt in other places I’ve been, if you’re there on the 23rd of the month they throw a fundraising party for the island which was so much fun. I’m really sad to be leaving this special place but so grateful to have found it and I look forward to returning in the future

+ Lovely staff, good location and makes it easy for people to come together through game nights and such.

- It's very hot on the top floor, but not really surprized over that and there was a footstand fan on the floor. No mosqitonet over the bed (mattress on the floor). Also had a cockroach in my room and stepped on a dead one at the top floor. Small things, my general impression is over all good!

+ Fulfilled my expectations.
