Red House Hostel

The place looks like a Pinterest board and rooms are ok. PROBLEM they tried to charge me 45% more of what accepted for “taxes”. After arguing and showing them that the taxes (as per the T&C’s) were included in the final price they deducted them but then they applied a currency exchange rate in a way so they could get some money back. They ended up charging me 20% more of what I was supposed to pay and I had to accept since I didn’t have anywhere else to stay. Definitely NOT recommendi...

One of the receptionists was really unfriendly, I did not feel home. They charge you 3 times de normal rate, so you pay way too much for what you get.

The room was nice and spacious and everything was very clean. On the downside, when we arrived we were told we were 'lucky' to still have a bed as we had not paid or told them our check in time. We had in fact paid. The staff/volunteers pay no attention to you so it lacked atmosphere. The breakfast is pretty laughable - brown bread and pancakes and jam.

A very mixed experience. The good: the hostel itself is very cute and it's a treat to have curtains on the beds. Overall clean. It's a small hostel so easy to get to know people but it was fairly empty while there. The bad: they shut the common area at 11pm so there is literally no where to be inside & hang out or be able to call home. I had to sit in the freezing cold outside :/ The staff were oddly rude & condescending. Breakfast pancakes always ran out by 7:30am. I really wanted to like it :(

Only one poorly functioning toilet in dorm room, which kept getting blocked. Missing curtains in the room so got light at 5.30am. Each bed did have a charging point but nowhere to keep things during the night for top bunks, but good storage for bags. Poor shower pressure but bathroom was clean. Helpful staff and lovely breakfast included !

Was disappointed compared to what the reviews suggested. Beds are creaky and bedding is like paper, so quite noisy just moving positions in sleep. Breakfast was disappointing (bread and jam) and minimal communal space. Very little socialising etc. Overall the hostel was OK - safe place to stay, but was expecting more.

Can hear noise from road and beds in 8 bed dorm extremely noisy when ppl move. There was also a lack of toilet paper. During the breakfast times the kitchen is crowded, is limited to toast with toppings. Enquired about getting a coffee 15 minutes before breakfast ended and was told “when the coffee is gone, it’s gone.” Been in SA for 6 weeks and it’s the only hostel I’ve had to make my own bed and remove the bed sheets when finished.

Cute staff and good location! However the room was so cold that most likely your roommate will be a penguin 🐧

The hostel itself is fine. Staff were quite rude and unhelpful and when we checked in we ended up paying more than expected as they have a “set” exchange rate which meant we paid way more than expected and it felt cheeky. The room was clean, however there was one bathroom to share between 8 people and the shower and toilet in the same room so made it difficult if there were many people wanting to shower/use toilet. Breakfast was good. Overall, atmosphere was lacking.

Comfortable, great hosts who will help you with booking trips and taxi's. Breakfast is good.

Auberge au top. Personnel sympathique, espaces communs agréables. Dortoirs confortables. La salle de bain un peu salle.. Gros + pour le petit dej avec pancakes qui était délicieux !

It’s a really nice hostel and the staff was great and helped out with everything you needed. Also great to have the possibility to wash the clothes at the hostel. Thanks for having us!

Great hostel

We really enjoyed our stay here! The owner and volunteers were very nice. The kitchen was clean and tidy. The included breakfast was also really nice! Would recommend this hostel a lot!

The rooms are clean , the beds have curtains which adds much privacy. The bathroom as well is very clean. Breakfast is basic and set us up until lunch.

still too expensive for whatt it is but better than other hostels

Friendly staff, clean facilities, curtains and lockers in dorm, plenty of common areas and a filling breakfast. We loved our time here, gracias con todo!

Good place to stay, but not very social.

I absolutely loved this hostel, very clean, the staff were very helpful as well. in terms of location, it is near to the town which is good but it’s about a 30 minute walk from the bus terminal and as there’s no public transport you either have to walk or get a taxi

One of the best hostels we’ve stayed in South America. Excellent staff, really welcoming, clear communication, organised and really helpful. Room was spotlessly clean. Great chilled music playing and good communal space. Breakfast provided which is an added bonus :) Kitchen well equipped and spotlessly clean, gas hob slightly temperamental but otherwise great.

Amazing place ! Really cosy, the personal is always helping and caring for everything. It’s clean, the breakfast is good. The beds are ok with curtains and Own power and light. I really recommend this place ! It feels like a Little family !
