Marshal Beach Hostel

I went to this hostel after I landed because it was quite close to the airport. The pictures looked really welcoming but in reality there was mould on the walls, it smelled really mouldy and it was dirty. Additionally I was the only guest which made me feel uncomfortable.

We found this hostel through the website. It spoke to us because it’s close to the beach. The owner made us feel welcome, though the rooms were not clean and very old. The air conditioning was not working, there was mold on the walls and the electricity wasn’t working either. The showers produced just a tiny amount of water. We hope they clean up the rooms, then it would be a good place to stay.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. He knows the german language. The rooms are very old.

It was generally clean and comfortable, peaceful and the staff were kind. Upon checking in they initially put me in their non-AC room and when I noticed the AC not working they insisted I booked the non-AC room and I had to pull up their listing and my booking and show them the price I paid matched the AC room, not the other, so it took some time, self advocating, boldness and energy on my part to convince them and be moved to the room I booked.

Friendly host, facilities weren't the cleanest, but was very cheap... got a bit of a 'walking dollar' vibe from the owner. him and his staff were 'overhelpful' to the point where i couldnt do basic tasks for myself without someone getting in the way, following me to act as a chauffer to achieve some sort of financial reward.

The owner is super nice, waited for us until 4am. The hostel is well located and you get a towel, however the hostel was not clean at all...

Marshall is nice and he made me feel pretty comfortable coming here. The room is not so clean (it was full of ants and the bathroom is really not clean…). The bed is comfortable but the private room is noisy during the night because of children screaming and dog barking. It was okey for a night

Had a great few days getting to know Marshall at his cute guest house in Negombo, comfy bed and really good location about 500 meters from the ocean, woke up every morning to complimentary tea. Would recommend this place for travelers on a budget wishing to be near the international airport whilst having a bit of relaxation by the beach before their flight. Thanks for the hospitality and chats, great seafood as well. 😊👍

Mashal a été très accueillant! Les chambres sont simples mais elles sont propres et le lit confortable et doter d'air climatisée. A noter qu'il n'y a pas de wifi. Pour le prix je recommande!

Habe meinen Aufenthalt unfassbar genossen! Der Gastgeber ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit!

Location is at the beach and close to bars and restaurants. It was good value for money, clean neat. I was in a dorm which did not look as comfortable as the private rooms. For the money it was fine, and the staff and proprietor were super friendly and helpful. Great choice for my low budget needs :)
