Hostal El Portal

Ubicado a dos minutos del ingreso a Semuc, muy cómodo. Los precios en el restaurant un poco más caro que lo normal en Guatemala y no cuenta con espacio de cocina. Falta que coloquen lockers de seguridad en las habitaciones. En general es un lindo lugar.

Boendet ligger väldigt nära ingången till naturreservatet och man kan göra turer dit som är ganska bra pris och roliga! Rekommenderar! Andy var en bra guide! Rummen är ganska bra, det är bara väldigt lyhört utåt och ganska kallt men annars bra! De som jobbar på boendet är också väldigt trevliga, Cindy var väldigt snäll och hjälpsam! Maten var till bra pris!

el lugar es bonito, justo al lado del río. tome el tour con ellos. la comida no es muy buena, si está temprano puedes comer en los puestos de afuera. la habitación limpia y amplia, solo que no están divididas ni con cortinas, así que no tienes tanta privacidad. pero en general está bien el lugar.

Es un lugar maravilloso para descansar, limpio y muy muy acogedor. Todo el staff te recibe con cariño y en las noches te invitan a bailar o compartir. En especial resaltaresaltamos el gran trabajo que hace Julio pues siempre fue muy amable durante nuestra estadía. El hostal queda a la entrada de Semuc Champey y de las cuevas por lo que al caminar unos pocos metros puedes disfrutar de este paraiso. Al estar ubicado en la selva el servicio de luz e internet es intermitente la comida es deli.

Expérience déplorable dans cet hôtel. 
La chambre était infestée de cafards : une dizaine visibles sur les murs et même sur le lit. Lorsque nous l'avons signalé à la réception, on nous a simplement répondu : « Désolé, il y a beaucoup de cafards par ici… » sans aucune solution proposée. great location in semuc champay, you literally can't get any closer. we were only three couples when we stayed there but the employees made it a memorable time with great karaoke and lots of laughs. I would come here again. it's a sister hostel with hostel Oasis in lanquin

Good location, 2 min away from the entrance of the park, nice staff, just keep in mind this is not a party hostel and is located in the middle of the nature.

Good location. Pool is nice. Food ok. Staff rude will make fun of you behind your back and lied many times to us. No warm water (to be expected, but was advertised differently). Electricity not all day (was no problem, but should be made known.

Lots of cockroaches at night in my bedroom. I didn’t get to sleep peacefully all of my nights there. Some of the male staff still have a bit of “primitive” behavior. I had to switch to a private room instead of a dorm when I mentioned I simply wasn’t comfortable with sleeping w/ one male on the dorm while I’m alone. Muy buena atención, siempre atento a mis requerimientos. Lo único es que deben ser mas claros con la hora de recogida en Lanquin, ya que despues de un largo viaje el huesped llega muy cansado y no puede esperar a que el hostel lo recoja hasta la hora que quiera.

Really close to the national park of semuc champey. Lovely location with a view of the river, preferred this stay over greengos for a more beautiful location (even if greengos may be more social). Super friendly staff!

I chose this hostel because of its location which indeed was very close to the river and the caves etc, but the equipment left a lot to be desired. Electricity and wifi was turned off every night at 10pm, sometimes earlier, and the dorms were very simple (no curtains on the beds). The restaurant food was nice but kinda expensive. I recommend the tour though (only around 20$ for a great allround experience) but i‘ve heard there’s other hostels which may be more comfortable, offering similar t...

Super équipe ! Emplacement idéal à l'entrée de Semuc Champey. Les draps étaient un peu taché et quelques cafards mais rien d'insurmontable et le reste était ok.

Buen alojamiento y muy bien ubicado para ir a Semuc Champey, es tranquilo, la comida en el restaurante es muy buena el precio es medio alto, sin embargo al rededor hay comedores de gente local a un precio más cómodo. La atención de la gente es excelente

Great location! Friendly staff! Great food! Our only issue was the number of hours there was no power every day. Difficult to keep items charged.

The only thing this hostel has going for it is the location, but don't let that fool you - this place is awful. Staff literally THROW ROCKS AT STRAY DOGS in front of guests. They are extremely dismissive and overall just don't care about your experience. The food is extremely underwhelming. They lie about not having laundry services and don't mention anywhere beforehand that there is no electricity 18 hours a day. It's misleading and shameful that they don't disclose that. Avoid this place!!!

This is the worst hostal I have stayed at (have been to over 100 hostals in many different countries). The staff were incredibly rude. It felt like no one was in charge. When I asked questions in Spanish they would make jokes behind my back saying that I sounded like I was drunk. I have a good level of Spanish but need to work on my accent. They also would do the laundry for some people and not for others. The atmosphere was non existent l. Very unpleasant to stay in a place with bullying staff
