Papachos Hostel

The reason for the bad review is the owner. I booked 2 days and stayed 2 weeks because of the volunteers who were great. He was rude to his staff made up exclusively of volunteers. Over the two weeks I was there I overheard and saw first hand how he insulted the volunteers. He was never around to actually run the place, relying on volunteers. When he did show up, the mood of the place changed immediately. Unfortunately I can’t go into details due to word count. Awful.

We booked a private room for one night. The room didn’t looked like on the pictures at all. It was not mentioned that the room was on the rooftop, which led to the fact that you always have walk outside in the cold if you want to use the bathroom. The room was really small, the walls and wallpaper were very worn and dilapidated. In general the hostel was not in a good condition, other than on the pictures presented. The air in the room was really bad, but opening it doesn’t felt safe during ...

Had a private room next to the bathroom. Bathroom smelt the whole time we were there. Water was lukewarm on a good day, had to try 3 different times to shower. The staff weren’t very helpful. The kitchen is very small for the amount of people trying to use it - only 4 hobs and very limited space in fridge. Is also far out of Banos you want to stay on the other side of town really. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t revisit

Mal situé, dans une pente très passante. Pour un voyageur, je le déconseille à bive voix. 1 jour à cet établissement est un kour perdu. Et ce, même loin du centre, le bruit est omniprésent.pas de restaurants près. L'hostel est vide, je me demande bbien pourquoi. Ha oui, j'ai été averti par un qui travaille ici qie la fin de semaine s'est plus bruyant dans l'hostel. Je déconsrille gortement. Oui il y a la terrasse pour la vue, venez prendre une photo et voilà tout

I don’t understand why this place has such a good rating. We had to ask twice for them to replace bathroom hand soap, there seemed to be quite a few long term guests/workers who live there and who create a really weird vibe and treat the place like it’s only for them and other guests are in the way. I was pushed out of the way of the stove when cooking, and it was generally a really uncomfortable experience in the social areas. The shower was either scalding or freezing and the whole place...

It was not really clean, the rooms were much smaller then the pictures shows you. The kitchen was really bad. The showers were most of the time cold. You couldn’t drink the water, so you had to buy lots of water. Staff was nice. Location was fine.

Overall hostel felt grotty and tired. There was never any soap in the bathrooms despite asking, and the kitchen didn’t feel clean. The only place to dry clothes was the outside terrace upstairs - in a town thats known to rain most days… However the beds were comfy and the shower was good.

This is my first review and was my first hostel stay in Ecuador. The place was nice in the common areas however my room was on the top floor where my room opened up to the outside rooftop. So not as warm as on the other floors. the bathrooms need an upgrade and are quite small. otherwise a nice enough hostel.

Room and beds were good for the good price. The bathroom have been a bit uggly and broken. Kitchen was not that nice as well but they have a rooftop terrace with a beautiful view and a movie room. Unfortunatly there were not many guests. Most of the people walking around in the hostel worked there. So the atmosphere was not that cool and the stuff (a new volunteer and the owner of the hostel) were not so helpful with booking tours. So we had to go the offices in the centre.

Amazing hostel. Really nice facilities especially the kitchen, it’s well stocked and highly functional. Great location, close to the tia and town centre. Really nice set of volunteers when I was there

I loved the movie room and quiet location. It still felt safe at night. The vibes from staff were off.

I loved this hostel, it was relaxed, friendly and had everything you’d need. I felt very comfortable staying here for a week and using it as a base for adventures in Baños. HUGE shout out to Eddie who works there who made me feel welcome and comfortable from the moment I arrived. It made my trip to have someone there who was so friendly and knowledgable about the area. He even took a few of us out to see markets, waterfalls and viewpoints. Thanks Eddie!

The staff was always helpfull. From the rooftop you have a nice view, especially at night

I had a wonderful stay here, very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities, including a rooftop terrace with the most gorgeous view.

Hostel is ok. Beds were fine and rooms are large but the power sockets are at the foot of the bed, so very inconvenient to use during the night. The common area is quite small and the volunteers / employees would always hang out there at night taking up all the space so there was no space for the guests to sit. They didn’t create a very social environment. I found it a bit uncomfortable like I was intruding in their space.

Hostel 8 min vom Stadtzentrum entfernt. Super netter Host hat uns sehr viele gute Tipps gegeben und alle Probleme direkt gelöst. Zimmer war sehr karg eingerichtet. Uns Zimmer war im Erdgeschoss mit großen Fenstern die nicht sehr dick waren. Immerhin gab es ein großen Zaun. Es waren viele Geräusche von der Straße zu hören. Küche war okay ausgestattet.

Nice and quiet hostel with comfy beds and rooftop, 5 min walking from the centre, the staff is super friendly and helps you to organise tours or with anything you need - felt very welcome and would come back any time!

A estadia no hostel Papachos foi ótima! O espaço é aolhedor e com vários ambientes, sendo a cozinha o que mais agregou nos dias que passamos lá, pudemos interagir com os outros hóspedes, o que nos rendeu ótimos dias em boa companhia. As pessoas que nos receberam foram muito receptivas e acolhedoras, e nos deram boas dicas de lugares e como fazer os programas que tínhamos planejado. Fica um pouco fora do centro mais movimentado, mas considero isso uma qualidade por ser mais calmo e silenc...

Really cool hostal, close to the centre and everything you need

Overall a fine hostel with great value for money. It’s right across from the hospital which was really nice. It’s a bit loud both due to it not being the most isolated and also just the vibe of the house full of happy people. The bathrooms needed something to dry of the hand in, and the reception weren’t 24/7 as we tried to get in contact with the receptionist at 8am however we weren’t able to.

Super hostel, ambiance familiale, le personnel est super cool et de donne de bons conseils pour les lieux à visiter autour. La douche chaude et les rideaux pour les lits est un gros +++. Merci pour ce séjour, je reviendrais dans cet hostel avec grand plaisir !

Bonne auberge dans l’ensemble Quelques problèmes de lits à notre arrivée mais le problème a été résolu rapidement
