Good place, good people, they are offering Diving sessions as well. It was end of season when I visited so not many people there

TLDR: Never, under any circumstance, should you stay here. It’s not worth the shakedown if Shoy (the owner) gets drunk, locks you out of your room, and calls the police. Drunk owner attempted to shake me down for 9k LKR the morning I was leaving. Locked the room and called the police. The police were aware of his reputation and released me without paying anything over the original booking amount. Limited to 500 characters. Full review on Google Maps.

His diving instructor, Lisa, is unfortunately also toxic. She co-signed all his nonsense during the exchange, calling me unreasonable. She LARPed as Shoy’s lawyer, encouraging his childish behavior, instead of mediating. Well, Lisa, the police thought I was reasonable. Their opinion actually matters.

Shoy is very friendly, he was always there to make sure that everything was alright. He even made me tea when I got sick :) The Guesthouse is very close to the nice beach!

Amazing hostel! There’s strong air conditioning in the room too!! Best I’ve stayed in Asia! Really clean and super comfy beds with high quality bed sheets and pillows. Off the main road so you get a quiet sleep. The host Shoy is really friendly and nothing was a problem. It’s down a safe side road and only a few minutes walk to the beach. Theres a washing machine you can use. Plenty of car parking too. Oh and I also went scuba diving with them too which was amazing! Highly recom...

Great location for diving and snorkelling. 10 minute walk to the restaurants and bars on the beach. The manager was very helpful and made me feel extremely welcomed every day. We will definitely be returning to Shoy’s Place when we return to Sri Lanka

Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Wir wurden mehrmals lecker bekocht und es wurde sich gut um uns gekümmert. Ausstattung ist simple aber perfekt ausreichend (+Waschmaschine). Die Lage ist sehr ruhig und der Strand in 5min Fußweg erreichbar. Definitiv empfehlenswert!!

esperienza abbastanza spiacevole nonostante le camere fossero pulite e in una posizione tranquilla per l'atteggiamento negativo del proprietario nei nostri confronti. via vai di gente a bere davanti alle camere. unico posto durante il mio viaggio in cui non mi sono sentita al sicuro.

Shoy is super nice and welcoming! The Beach is a few minute walk away and way nicer than in Trincomalee! We can highly recommend! We felt very at home.

Good shower, washing machine available, clean rooms, airconditioning was working.

Das Doppelzimmer ist in Ordnung. Lediglich das Bett war für zwei Personen zu schmal außer man möchte sich die ganze Nacht berühren. Ein Kissenbezug war dreckig und das Bad etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

Shoy's Place has everything you need for a great stay, and is really close to the beautiful Nilaveli Beach. Shoy and his staff were really helpful and generous, offering food, washing and more. They also have a great dive centre and really look after you if you go through the hostel 🙂

Excellent stay in Nilaveli, great value. It is quiet and very comfortable. Place was sparkly clean. The fan in our room was super strong!! Very relaxing environment but you can still meet cool people staying here. Shoy and his team were super welcoming and helpful for anything— laundry, scooter; etc. We went diving and snorkeling with them too and it was a blast. We could’ve stayed here forever. Your best option in Nilaveli!

Best place to stay if you are passing by, you won’t regret it! Amazing hospitality and great vibes, fantastic dive crew and the place is just as described. Will come back for sure

It is a nice place to chill and go diving. The host is really kind and an owner of an dive center. The room is clean and the beds are good and there is a nice ac and fan. The only things are that they don't have locker. There is also only one power outlet in the women's dorm.
