Lavender Lodge Kota Kinabalu

An okayish hostel. No atmosphere so wouldn’t recommend if you’re a solo traveller. In the 8 bed female dorm there were only curtains and plug and lights for the bottom bunks, but only one out of the 4 worked- but there was an extention power outlet on the desk in the room. My friend also had a lot of ants in her bed😂 wouldn’t exactly recommend this place but I’ve stayed in worse hostels

Staff were friendly and very helpful Rooms were decent Cons - no lock on doors - locker outside rooms - no atmosphere (though that’s just Borneo tbh)

Great stay at Lavender Lodge. We had a private room, which was clean and comfy. There was also a small kitchen we had access to which was a nice touch! Perfect location for restaurants and shops too. Daniel was super helpful and really friendly. Couldn’t fault our stay!

Super clean. Had a whole dorm room to myself as staying in off season. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Great private room, lots of nearby restaurants only a short walk away and great base for going for a Mt Kinabalu trails and also a snorkelling trip as only a short grab to the port

I had a truly lovely stay at Lavender Lodge. Solo traveller in a private room, I was welcomed virtually by Daniel and in person by Rubina and both wanted to make sure I was comfortable and had a great stay. It isn't luxurious accommodation but that's not what you're there for. It's ideally located, clean, quiet, and a comfy place to come back and have a great night of sleep after seeing the many wonderful things KK has to offer. I will happily stay here again and recommend it to friends.

Loved it so much here, that I stayed a week and when I returned to Kota Kinabalu a week later I booked in again. Location is great for getting to different landmarks and lots of restaurants and supermarkets close by. Daniel and Rubina were so helpful and friendly during my stay as a solo traveler. Rooms were clean and spacious (I had a private room, not a dorm). The shared bathrooms were kept extremely clean too. Checking in when it was the early hours of the morning was easy too.

Zeer vriendelijke mensen, heel proper verblijf, heeft alles wat je nodig hebt ik was graag nog veel langer gebleven.

Lovely staff and so helpful with booking and advising on tours, 20 minute walk from the pier to get your snorkelling tour tickets or a short taxi ride. Not much going on in the city itself so atmosphere wasn’t great but spacious and comfy rooms!

A very nice place, though more of a townhouse than a lodge. The dorm bunks are a bit shaky but have lights, sockets and curtains. There is a small kitchen and eating area for tea, coffee or pot noodles. Everything was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and helped me booking a tour. They had lots of high-end sea-based tours (island trips or scuba) but we could find a city tour or to Kinabalu park, so I didn't see much of the city,. Not the hostels fault, but disappointing. 4/5

Loved it here. So much so that i came back 4 times. Very chilled vibe, welcoming staff and clean room. Showers worked and hot. Excellent location in the CBD and 10 mins walk from the waterfront.

The location is great and the rooms are comfortable and clean. There is a lovely vibe and the staff, in particular the owner Daniel, are so welcoming and helpful. I would recommend everyone stay here!

Loved our stay in Lavender lodge, a super spot to base yourself in KK. The room itself was ideal - clean and comfy. But the highlight of this stay is definitely the friendly staff, especially Danny, who is very helpful and can recommend the best things to do locally. Not a particularly social hostel if that's what you're looking for, but it seems KK is socially quiet generally, and the atmosphere of Lavender Lodge is still very friendly and relaxing. Thank you for having us! :)

Great place to use as your base. The staff are excellent & very accommodating. Rooms are perfect- spacious and clean.

Awesome value! Very clean and comfortable private room with A/C, hot water, shared kitchen and a nice outdoor patio. Central and close to many of the sights in KK. Owner was easy to communicate with and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend!

Good hostel lovely owners decent rooms and good shower in en suite but the shared ones didn’t look great not much atmosphere but that’s more down to KK not really being a backpacker town rather than the hostel. If you are in KK it’s a great affordable option!

Felt super safe here and such a great price at rm35 a night for a dorm bed. I was lucky and had the room to myself which was nice. Clean bathrooms, and a nice tiny outdoor area at the back of the property. Laundry place next door & a chicken rice restaurant. 7 eleven across the road or a family store a few doors down too, 10 minute walk to the sea to watch the sunset. Not a social place in my experience though
