YHA Westport Trip Inn Hostel

Absolutely the worst hostel experience we’ve ever had. The room stank of sweat, sheets were filthy, one bed had dried blood stains. We felt unsafe with creepy, unstable men around and the door left unlocked all night by our roommate who kept going in and out until 3am. Bathrooms were revolting, blood on mirrors, unflushed toilets. The kitchen equipment was disgusting, rotting uncovered food in every single fridge. This place is a serious health risk. Emailed management weeks ago, no response

Clean and tidy, a place to put your head down, but nothing special

Der Aufenthalt hat mir gut gefallen. Aber leider hat die Mitarbeiterin meine privaten Sachen genommen und vor die Zimmertür gelegt. Damit war ich nicht einverstanden.

Nice hostel but in the room next to ours some locals were living and was not one quiet second; we heard all of their Tv-shows far into the night and they woke us at about 7 am with their loud laughing and rumbling against the wall

Stayed there for four nights during off season. It was very quiet but the staff was welcoming. The location is good and the kitchen is well equiped (even though the light in the kitchen is kind of aggressive). I liked the common area and the rooms as well as the bathrooms were clean. I would come again. The only negativ point is that someone stole food from my roommate. Hopefully that doesn't happen again

Lovely hostel, with good facilities, bathrooms and kitchen were clean. The rooms were comfortable. Pretty quiet during my stay, so lacked some atmosphere:)

Not a bad hostel, well located. Bed was comfy and shower facilities were good. Pretty dead atmosphere when I was there but good for 1 night

Its a good hostel to stay at for one night, but other than that it doesn't really have much of an atmosphere. Its not really the place to socialize. Might also be bc the town is quite a bit boring. But the bathrooms were quite clean, which was nice!

Super chill vibe. Rooms were clean and felt newer and the shower/bathrooms were clean and nice. Large kitchen area and nice backyard space for eating or hanging out. Wish we could’ve stayed longer!

It was absolutely amazing! When I was there, there was nearly no one in the hostel, so I basically got my own room but of course that does make it hard to socialize (it was off season tho). The staff was really nice, the facilities are really clean and big but noone being there did make it a bit earie but otherwise can definetly recommend, especially if you want a break from travelling so much!

Lovely bright clean hostel. Our room looked onto the garden and everything was so clean. Really enjoyed our short stay here.

Very nice accommodation!! Very clean and comfortable with a great atmosphere. The staff is happy and has a good time while working which means a lot. Very beautiful House. Would be interested in the history but failed to ask. Nice garden and laundry facilities. You can even hang the clothes outside.

Love the cats and the dogs that was as small as the cat ☺️

Really cool place, good location, only 6 minutes to the supermarket, the place looked neat and it was very clean. We really liked all the plants and the outside area. The lounge room with the games was great and honestly the whole place had a nice chill vibe.

Loved the rooms and history of house too. Beautiful.

A decent place to stay overnight on my drive south. No atmosphere at all but it’s not a very lively or interesting town either so not altogether surprising. Decent kitchen, comfortable bed.

Cool little place. Guy running the place was nice. Bed was comfy. Shower was good. Good kitchen set up, with everything you need. Close location to centre of town.

The hostel is very lovely, great kitchen and outside deck to eat/chill, bathroom facilities were also nice and clean, a very sweet cat that comes over if you have food haha, and also very kind owners. Not very crowdee, but definitely a nice place to chill and explore the area around Greymouth for a bit

Good stopover place if youre passing through Westport. Pretty quiet and the house is a bit quirky, but fine for a night or two. Rooms dont have lockers and beds dont have curtains so doesnt feel private.
