Nomads Magnetic Island

Location was good. But it’s just the bare minimum. We paid £80 each for 2 nights. Our rooms were shocking. The beds weren’t stable, rusting, not clean. The kitchen was even worse. A complete mess. I don’t have high expectations for hostels however this was terrible considering the price point as well. If it was half the price then absolutely fair enough.

Craaaazy how expensive this hostel is for what you get. Pick a random rock on the beach, I can promise the matresses are harder. The beds move so much that it’s inpossible to sleep. You also don’t get lockers which it does show on the website, when I asked the staff they dismissed it and said ‘what? Someone will take your laptop and take it of the island?’ like, yeah sir, that’s exactly my point. Extremely unhelpful and sassy guy. The rooms are also not locked most of the time.

I booked this hostel not knowing this was a party hostel and although it was louder than we would have liked, this was not the main issue. The toilets, showers and kitchen were just dirty. No chance of getting a remotely clean plate or cutlery (if you can even find any), even the sponges provided to wash dishes were full of dirt. I would never return to this hostel and if cleanliness is important to others, I wouldn’t advise them to either.

Most dirty hostel I have ever stayed in

Didn’t even end up staying here! When we walked into the room it stunk of weed and was covered in dust. There were cobwebs all by our beds. The walk to the toilet was so far and the kitchen was unclean. The staff were very helpful and offered us an alternative room but we decided to find somewhere else to stay. Luckily they gave us most of our money back. It was a shame as it was in a lovely location but the cleanliness and the vibe made us very uncomfortable.

Rude staff not willing to help and an overall attitude when I tried to ask questions. Would not even consider ever staying here. I've never had an experience like this before, wild that a business centered in hospitality made me feel like I was being a bother when the issue was from the hostel.

The location is beautiful & the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful - but the accommodation and facilities were disgusting, filthy, and in desperate need of attention. I didn’t realise that it being a “party hostel” would be at detriment to hygiene & cleanliness. In a 6 bed dorm you’re stuck in a run down damp smelling cabin right next to the toilets. Really advise either booking one of their private rooms or finding somewhere else.

Situated close to a beach, is about the only positive review I have for this hostel. The communal toilets and showers were poorly maintained and dirty. I unfortunately arrived on the final day of a festival, and was told that the music would stop at 18:00, however it continued on later that evening. There are a few shops and restaurants within a 15 minute walking distance of the hostel. I would suggest staying at Selina for a better overall experience.

I loved my stay there!! Staff were really nice and helped me with everything! Location is just incredible. I really felt like I was in a little paradise! I’ll come back for sure.

The best place in QLD for a weekend away! Great views, amazing staff, awesome food and atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend Nomads more!

Best hostel I’ve stayed in Australia. Staff is very friendly, the location is right on the beach and there’s lots of events going on everyday!

I had the best birthday weekend spent on a gorgeous tropical island surrounded by amazing people and lots of friendly staff at the hostel! Vicky was a wonderful person at reception she was happy to help with everything helping me to hire a car, get a duvet at night and anything else that I had to ask! All the bar staff a great people as well always working with a smile on their faces. Even the management there are great. Overall would 100% stay again. Thank you nomads for a great weekend!!

Perfect location, perfect service, perfect facilities for an east coast stop over. All the staff were really lovely and everything is cleaned regularly. Cheap drinks, right on the beach, highly recommend

Loved this hostel so much! The staff were super friendly and helpful. Such a gorgeous location- it literally feels like you’re in a tropical paradise. It’s a very social hostel with lots of events going on. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Great hostel! No complaints

Since i have been in Australia i stayed in many hostels and Nomads on Magnetic Island is by far one of the best ones. Its located directly on the ocean what makes it truly amazing. It is literally a little village on a tropical island. U can see Wallabys an Koalas all the time. The property is clean with plenty of space and a nice pool. I usually dont write feedbacks, but on this hostel i had to. 10 out of 10

The staff where very friendly and happy to help with anything. The food was also very nice and at a good value for money

Nice rooms and the food & coffee there is really good but the showers weren’t great and the toilets were nearly always clogged. WiFi is bad but that’s expected on an island

Your experience will definitely depend on whether you get one of the renovated rooms or the old ones. We had no curtains and had a lizard and many spiders, but other people we knew had such nice rooms. But otherwise everything else about this hostel is perfect from the staff, to the events and facilities.

Overall vibe of the stay was fun. But I just couldn’t get past the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Every surface was wet and shower floors were dirty. No door so lots of bugs and creatures came inside. The rooms were very basic, nothing but the metal beds, one main light, and all the plugs were on one side of the room. The kitchen was tiny, not enough cutlery/plates and again every surface was either wet or dirty. The main building/reception/social areas were good and seemed to have lots of even...

I really enjoyed this hostel. It was the cheapest on Magnetic island, but certainly over budget for me! It's absolutely a party hostel, which can be fun if that's your kind of thing. The happy hour deals are great, $7 cocktails as well as a free one when you arrive. Good events in the evenings. The pool was lovely. They upgraded me to a private room, just because it was available. The room was so nice with the best view. Staff was nice and the vibe of the hostel in general was great. Would 100% recommend.
