Viajero Colonia Hostel

There were no towels, and they not free! The room has a minuscule locker, thank God I just stayed for couple hours!

I did my laundry at this hostel and basically got robbed. It was 250 pesos (5.5€), so I gave 500 in cash. They had no change and said they'd return 250 later. When I picked up my laundry, the receptionist claimed it took two loads and kept the money. If it’s two loads, fine, but tell me in advance—don’t just take extra money without asking. This is outrageous! The hostel staff essentially stole from me. This ruined my experience at this hostel which wasn't amazing to begin with

Compared to other Viajero hostels, this one is in a really bad shape and very poorly maintained.

Too few bathrooms, very noisy

Ik heb geboek door de hogere scores ,maar de keuken was zo vies,koelkast overvol met eten resten,kakalaken liepen rond, Amper keukenspullen een kleine fornuis voor iedereen. Bij binnenkomst,stinkende hal. Ik weet niet hoe hogere scores deze hostel heb gekregen, ik was zeer teleurgesteld.

It is far from being up to the Viajero standards. Of course, don't expect this hostel to be a party Hostel, it is in Colonia. But it was very badly maintained. All the carpets are disgusting and need to be changed asap. The furniture in all the Hostel is old and not comfortable. Around the pool, I think there is only one kinda comfortable chair. The rest are straight wooden foldable chairs, all different from one another. Of the few doors I opened, I noted two door knobs falling.

This property is sufficient for one night but I do believe that it is overpriced for the actual condition of the rooms and building. Main issue was a strong sewage smell coming into the room from the bathroom. It wasn't that bad when i first arrived but when I came back later in the day the smell was so bad (despite the window being open all day) that I asked to change rooms, they were fully booked and couldn't switch me, so the worker sprayed some perfume spray in the room which helped a bit. Excellent location. It's proximity to everything is great. As for the place itself, it's an older building and not so well maintained. There is a stench smell from the ensuite bathroom and it stinks up the bedroom if the door is left open. The cleanliness of the whole place needs attention. Not much of a social vibe for a hostal or perhaps it's the off peak season that is was there

Mir ist es ein Rätsel wieso dieses Hostel so gut bewertet ist. Schlafen fällt schwer da bis 0 Uhr laute Musik läuft und die Zimmer extrem hellhörig sind. Das Badezimmer wirkte nicht gut gereinigt da sich viele Haare auf dem Boden befanden. Aus der Dusche kommt wenig Wasser bzw. der Wasserdruck ist niedrig. Die Toilettenspülung ist ebenfalls schwach und dauert ewig bis man sie ein zweites Mal betätigen kann. Nachts ist es kalt und das WLAN konnte man auf unserem Zimmer nicht empfangen.

Overall, alright. 10 person dorm was very small, no space for luggage. There are no locks on the doors of the rooms. So anyone can walk in. Common area and location are nice. Not the cleanest.

With Viajero, you know what you're gonna get. Clean sheets, lockers, good vibes. The staff were lovely, and there's a huge communal area, all in a great location. However, the kitchen is so tiny, really only one person's/group's meal can be cooked at a time. Also the pans need replacing, they are burnt and the handles loose, only 2 cutting knives available, and there was only one tea towel that was SO dirty it was crusty. The appliances (microwave/oven) need a deep clean.

It was really nice! The hostel is big, big terrace, nice bathroom and perfect location! Just nobody there when I was there and no activity organised, so as a solo traveller it’s not the best.

Very nice place. Perfect location, in the historic center and only 10m by foot from the port. Had a bar with a social atmosphere, rooms were allright. Would recommend.

Lots of mosquitoes in the common area. Antisocial guests. Otherwise great location and kind staff

Schöne Bar und schöner Außenbereich, ruhiges hostel, wenige Leute aber super entspannt. Nur die Räume sind sehr klein. Super Lage

really awesome hostel! fantastic location in the colonial terrace, and beautiful fascilities -terrace to look out at the town, center of colonial square -beautiful dining room and outside space -bikes to rent for 15 USD a day or around 5 for two hours -very kind staff -lovely pool area! -beds are comfy plus come with privacy curtain -each bed includes a locker with a lock provided by hostel -they were very kind to let us keep our stuff there after checkout

Hostal muy bueno para pasar algunas noches en Colonia! No había demasiado ambiente cuando estuve, pero igual lo pasé bien con las personas que conocí. Ubicación estupenda y camas muy cómodas!

Really nice hostel. Located right in the old town next to a square. Really nice big common areas both with sofas, tables to eat and a large big garden with a pool. Perfect for the summer. Staff was also very nice. Only small lockers in the room, but nice anyway.

hostel location is very good, right next to a lot of resturants and the main street. The hostel isnt very clean and is roaming with cats. most of the visitors arent rhe backpackers style.

Perfect central location and a nice communal feel with a large sitting/dining room, TV, pool table and swimming pool. Air con in the room was good! Only complaint would be small kitchen which was dirty and poorly stocked with not many cutlery, plates etc.

LOVED this hostel. The location is insane and right next the the historical church and main square. Most people I spoke to prior to arriving treated Colonia as a day trip, and I'm so happy I decided the spend one night and met others who were doing the same. The pool is amazing, and the overall atmosphere is so calm. I was able to meet so many people just hanging at the pool and through my dorm. La ville était super mignon et tranquille, je recommande de passer par Colonia entre Buenos Aires et Montevideo mais une nuit ou deux maximum. L’ambiance était très tranquille et calme. Le wifi marchait très bien. Le lit était vraiment très confortable (un des meilleurs que j’ai eu en hostel).

Really high quality, spacious hostel in Colonia, walking distance to everything, including both bus terminal and ferry terminal, very chill and quiet hostel for the one night I was there, but lots of people in the common area chilling

Um dos melhores hostels onde já me hospedei. Casarão lindo, eventos à noite. Uma pena ter ficado apenas um dia. Recomendo demais!

The female dorm was clean and spacious. The bed was comfy. Location central. Staff pleasant and helpful. All boxes ticked.
