During our stay multiple people from this hostel got bed bugs. We had multiple conversations with the staff who said they would provide us with a refund for our stay or refund us for our medication and washing. We followed up multiple times and haven’t gotten a reply. There was no utensils in the kitchen. The location was nice and central.

Beautiful place, but I woke up with 15 bug bites, which I can only assume were bedbugs. I told the guy at the reception at checkout and I hope they did something about it, even though he asked for photoproof.

If you are on the fence between booking this hostel or an airbnb: do the Airbnb. Or a different hostel. There is no social scene and there was no locked entrance or door to our room, so I didn’t feel super secure. Bathrooms were not nice but tolerable. FYI, the 24 bed room is actually broken down into rooms of 6 beds each, which isn’t bad. Unfortunately we got bed bugs from this hostel and staff were mostly unhelpful or gaslit us and said we didn’t have them (bites were clearly from bed bugs).

Ok so I didn’t get any of my stuff stolen and I didn’t get bed bugs and ultimately my life is fine and unchanged after this hostel stay - so I feel that I must preface with that. HOWEVER I find it unacceptable that there’s no soap in the bathroom to wash your hands with. Nothing is giving hepatitis A and E. coli more than 4 toilets shared by 24 people with no soap to wash their hands touching everything in a shared room. Also there should be no such thing as a 24 person shared room imo.

The hostel is well located and charming with the cloister and the paintings at the entrance. The room was correct, however, the mattress was not the cleanest, but the sheets were, so it was okay. I was really scared of the bedbugs but in the end, I don't think there were any. Room was good, and bathroom too. Very convenient to have a locker ! Good breakfast with a choice for the hot drink. The bad part of this hostel is the people working at the front office, not really nice nor welcoming.

WARRING!!! BED BUGS ON THE BEDS!!!My girlfiend and me were on the hostel the last weekend (October 6th) and we had all the body with bed bugs bites.This is the first time we had the experience like that, we are genuinely disgusted. If beds are done carefully and there is hygenic standard, this things would not happen. Also we need to deep clean our apartment because we are afraid of contamination in our home via clothes we had during our staying. We tried to give advice about this but they didn'

Cleaning staff threw away my clothes and shoes. Woke up with bug bites every morning. Maybe because they keep windows open and bugs fly in or I bed bugs, I can’t say for certain. Would recommend going to other hostels in area. Not worth cheap price.

We didn’t sleep even 1 night, NO AC and BED BUG everywhere on the mattress. Don’t book here, the general ambiance was off, and you’ll definitely go home with bed bug in your clothes. No offer was made from the hostel to clean the room, offer a new room or even to reduce de price that we paid for nothing.

The most important things to me when booking hostels are security of personal items, overall safety, and cleanliness. The security of personal items was great because every person is assigned a spacious locker near their assigned room. The overall safety of the hostel is not very good because none of the dorm rooms have a door—any guest can walk in and out. The cleanliness is generally bad because 1) I can smell and see black mold in each of the showers and 2) I had bedbugs.

BED BUGS!! BE AWARE! This property is infested with bed bugs across many rooms, and has horrible A/C. Room was extremely hot, staff were very unhelpful and overall it was a terrible experience.

don’t go to this hostel even if your life depends on it. the location was fantastic, the monastery is beautiful, the staff were friendly. BUT first i could never fall asleep because the ac wasn’t working, every single night sweating my ass off in inhumane temperatures. second, my bed had bed bugs, i woke up with bites all over. maybe i just got a bad dorm, maybe the privates are better, but my personal experience was hell.

I’m going to be forward with this review the people were great but that’s it. The place didn’t have running water so no shower, toilet, nothing. But even worse I had a blanket and bed infested with bed bugs and insects…. Seriously it’s now two days after my stay and I’m itching like crazy and swollen in certain areas. I have plenty of evidence at this point to prove it’s insects or bed bugs and not the many many mosquitos around. Go elsewhere better not worth your time.

*I stayed in a four people bunk bed room. Overall, you get what you paid for, except my sheets weren’t ready when I got there and I got bit by bed bugs. The shower and toilets were not very clean and you can smell the odor. If you’re looking for a OK place to stay on a budget solo trip, Yes. But absolutely NO if you’re wanna stay at clean and hospitable place. It would be worth paying like €20 more to stay elsewhere if that’s the case.

Bedbugs, overpriced, and dirty. Avoid!!!!! We didnt even stay here 1 night - it was so bad that we left even after we paid in full. - sheets had blood spot stains which indicates bedbugs - charged us €4 to store our backpacks (unusual) - falsely advertised as air conditioned - room had no towels, dirty pillowcases, no toilet paper or soap - bathroom was dusty and had hair in the shower - staff refused to contact the manager or give us money back, manager never replied to my email.

Was covered in bed bugs bites by the time I left. Everything else about the hostel was very nice. One of the best ones I’ve stayed in. Unfortunately leaving absolutely covered in bed bugs bites bites results in a major deduction of points.

Bathroom stank of sick and was always dirty. No hand soap, no toilet roll. Kitchen was rank but the actual rooms were decent enough. Guy at reception asked me for dinner which felt slightly unsettling haha
Wifi didn’t work, staff try and get hidden fees off you. Shared kitchen was bad compared to any other hostel I’ve stayed in across the world.

One of the worst hostels I've ever stayed in. - It's impossible to sleep in the dormitory. There are no doors and the walls aren't high, so you'll be woken up almost every hour. This is because the dormitory is next to the extremely noisy lobby. - The lights turn on automatically, so if someone goes to the toilet during the night, the lights in the dormitory turn on. - The toilets and bathrooms are dirty and almost everything is broken: shower doors, toilet bowls, taps.
I rarely go through the effort to leave reviews, but this one is needed. I have never been so repulsed by a hostel— which is saying something since I have traveled a lot. But it wasn’t just filthy, the staff were totally unengaged, there is little to no security (anyone could just walk in), and the facilities are extremely lacking. Bad air ventilation so the stink in the morning of everyone’s body odour is overwhelming. I could not recommend any hostel less than Foresteria Sociale.
Towel rent 5 euro. Luggage storage 5 euro. I will skip this place next time
This has been my worst stay at a hostel so far. The first 15 minutes were enough to know it was not going to be a nice stay. Although the hostel has all the basics you need, that place has a really heavy and bad atmosphere. You wont find there a nice place to know people, hang out with travellers or make friends; it works more like a Refuge than a hostel. The room smelt bad, people was dirty, full of weirdos that made it really uncomfortable.
Había pagado por dos noches, me pude quedar solo una porque me tuve que ir. Estuve en la habitación compartida de 24, son habitaciones de 6 personas sin puerta, por lo que durante la noche me despertaron más de 3 veces el personal del Hostel, se ve que no sabían cuántas camas libres quedaban en la habitación y seguían mandando gente a alojarse, que llegaba a la habitación a la madrugada y encontraba las camas ocupadas. I had paid for two nights, I could only stay one because I had to go. I was in the shared room of 24, which are rooms for 6 people with no door, so during the night I was woken up more than 3 times by the staff of the Hostel, you see they didn't know how many empty beds were left in the room and they kept sending people to stay, I would come to the room at nightfall and find the beds occupied. Terrible.

The Moroccan guy at the reception makes you feel really unwelcome; clearly doesn't belong in costumer service / at a reception. Others fince. The shower hadn't been cleaned when we moved into our room there, and neither the staircases that lead up to the beds. No table or chair for your stuff. Bathrooms renovated and nice (just smell bad since no air vents). No plates or pots in the kitchen. Lovely courtyard and stunning ceilings in the arcades. Great location! Medium rating for the high price.
Mayb one of the best hostels I’ve ever been in!! Absolutely beautiful building, lovely garden where you can lounge and enjoy breakfast. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the hostel is located in central Florence! Cannot recommend enough, I had an amazing time :)
No soap in the bathrooms, no curtains on the beds. In the 24 bed dorm the hallway lights turn on whenever someone gets up which floods the upper bunks with light even in the middle of the night. Staff was nice.

Great location next to the river in Florence. Has a kitchen but very limited cooking supplies. Rooms are spacious and there is a nice courtyard with seating

The location is an absolute 10 I think hostels are an acquired taste. Steve, friendly, reasonably responsive to the degree they could be. So mostly a very positive experience for me.

pretty good hostel if you're staying here a fee nights! not very social when i was there, but the old building its located in is stunning. the aircon broke in our room, but everything else seemed pretty alright

I had a very good experience. The hostel was clean, and located conveniently near the city center, making it easy to walk around Florence. The bathrooms and toilets were consistently clean, the bedding, linens, dorms, and common spaces were hygienic, and the common kitchen was very useful and well-equipped. They also provided lockers, which made the stay feel secure. The only downside was that bathroom access becomes restricted after checkout even if you are still around before departure.
Would choose this place over a hotel or airbnb. Do yourself a favour and stay here
I have nothing bad to say about this hostel it was amazing. PERFECT location right next to the river and city centre, clean rooms. It’s built into the back of a church and is so beautiful with ceiling paintings.

I was very pleased with the hotel, the reception was really friendly and professional, the girl of Pakistani origin, the warm smile in a place for a fairly austere rest. i proposed to take a little more care of the cleaning in the garden, where you can feel a stantio smell, perhaps related to the deiezioni dei piccioni. overall a beautiful place, with so much potential
Very very noisy. People don't have empaty because they speak loudly every hour they enter the building. I can't sleep well for my two nights.
