Absolutely filthy disgusting hostel, rooms are vile, no curtains on dorms, facilities are very unclean, the entire place reeks. Good location close to airport and a mall. Staff were helpful and nice.

15 minutes after I checked in I went down stairs to order my dinner not knowing where it was so I asked the staff member at one bar and she said to go to the main bar I went to the main Bar to enquire where the staff member promptly abused me and did not stop berating me she said she was busy she couldn't talk to me I'm at the wrong spot I stopped inside a sign that said menu order here I will never go back again and I will never use your company again you obviously support very bad hotels

Very strange set up, with such loud music I don’t know how anyone can stay for more than 1 night. Staff were the only redeeming feature. Would recommend to spend a few more $ for a semi-decent place

DO NOT STAY HERE if you want respectful and decent sleep. The hostel doesn’t warn you, but they have LOUD and obnoxious music playing EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Without fail. They say quiet hours are 10 pm, but it’s currently 11 and the live music isn’t close to stopping. It’s horrible! They should at least put a warning somewhere for when you’re comparing hostels. But nope. You think you’ve found a good one, only to find out they don’t respect their OWN quiet hours. Total c***. Do not re...

I’ve stayed at a lot of hostels and this one just didn’t meet my expectation. I should have read that there was music late into the night (12am-2am). But the bathroom to the shared dorms doesn’t even have a proper door. So it was very loud in the middle of the night and didn’t allow for full privacy. The bed wasn’t made when I got there. Things were very minimal. It is a hostel, so I understand that. But this wasn’t my vibe for hostels. However, it may be for others!

I would definitely not stay here again. There’s no sociable people and there’s quite a few people that live there full time. There were stains on the bed sheets and the toilets were disgusting. There was poo all over the toilet seat. Very noisy over the weekend as it is a pub. The staff were friendly enough. Would not recommend this place, go somewhere else.

I didn’t stay at the night of reservation. It’s because even though I made 4 people reservation in 4 people dorm, the Jack backpacker tried to put us in separate rooms at the time of arrival. They should have let us know the situation before our arrival. We had to spend the night over at the Cairns airport before departure.

It is really really loud, there is a bar right next to it and you basically feel like your sleeping in a club. The music was supposed to be turned off at 10 pm, but it went on the whole night. I have never slept in such hard and uncomfortable bess like there. The fridge was disgusting, it smelled like moulded fish. Even thigh they cleaned the dorms every day, they where quite dirty. Would nit recommend going there unless you find nothing else. The receptionist was really nice though.

Facilities are really poor but you get what you pay for. Beds were comfy enough and the hostel reception was really kind and helped solve a noise issue immediately. Top location in Cairns so no complaints there. Major issues with cleanliness in the showers and communal bathroom.

Leider war es sehr dreckig und es hat gestunken! Das Personal war super freundlich. Zu dem Zeitpunkt als wir da waren, war es schwer Kontakt aufzunehmen, da alle einen Job suchten und schon länger im Hostel waren.

Yo personalmente estuve muy bien , muy cómodo todo genial .

Staff were incredibly helpful and super kind. Unfortunately the trip was ruined by a couple things. One (absolutely no blame to the hostel for this) someone was taking peoples shoes and throwing them into the road leaning lots of people lost shoes. And 2 the lock on my dorms door broke meaning we had to sleep with the door open, making it not feel particularly safe. Overall for how much you pay it’s a solid choice if you’re staying in cairns

Not quite as clean as the photos, definitely a bit dark and dingy. It was loud until 11pm every night without any events on, but they do advertise this so wasn’t surprised. Very close to city centre.

All in all, my stay at the Jack was simply wonderful! The receptionists are the nicest and most caring of all. The new Kai did particularly well. After more than 2 months I can only say that I had the best time there. The kitchen equipment could be a bit better, the showers are amazing and the atmosphere is just great. Good location and overall you get what you pay for. There’s is noise from the Jack bar below so bare this in mind when booking! We had messy boys in our room unfortunately so didn’t get the best sleep and air conditioning could be better - but the facilities were fine for just one night, big kitchen and nice outdoor seating area. Staff lovely and our room had a fridge which was great.

Was a bit loud due to the bar in the back. Didn't spend much time here but a good place to spend the night before diving the next day.

would have been very nice had i not chosen to visit at a weekend where the nextdoor bar gets very loud

Nice place and good for the price

sociaal hostel, leuke groep personeelsleden die je overal mee helpen en heel gezellig zijn. koelkast in de 4 persoonskamer, top. ook leuke keuken en zitje buiten.

Für ein zwei Nächte ist es in Ordnung. Die Küche ist sehr klein und es gibt nicht genügend Koch Equipment für alle. Duschen und Toilette sind sauber aber die Waschbecken befinden sich im Flur. Direkt unten drunter befindet sich eine Bar. Es ist daher abends sehr laut. Lage ist aber gut. Nur 10 Minuten bis zum Stand.

Great location, but definitely a party hostel. Music from the bar wasn't even an issue, it was people on the porch and in the common area yelling literally 24/7 and smoking weed next to my room's window. My room had a couple of long-term guests that were taking up all of the fridge space and had their stuff everywhere. I had to put my own things under another person's bunk because of all the clutter. If the other person on your bunk even breathes the bunk will shake.

Shared bathroom, few showers. No cleaning in any area, neither kitchen, bathroom, nor rooms. Everything is filthy. The kitchen is very incomplete, lacking glasses and cups. The hostel is next to a bar and a nightclub. It was impossible to sleep until 6 a.m. from Thursday to Sunday. The quiet rules in common areas are not followed. I do not recommend it at all. Very bad hostel.
