Dreamtime Hostel

The staff here are lovely and the common areas are really nicely curated! But I do have to say that I was disappointed after reading such good reviews about the hostel. You have to pay 2 dollars for 3 hours of air con and my room stank of sweat when I first arrived. There were also blood stains on my sheets and a girl in another room had to move because she found a cockroach in her bed.

Not clean and shower was FULL of mould. The only redeeming quality was the staff.

We went because of the high rating. The best part of the hostel was the staff as they were very very helpful with booking help and recommendations (especially Tim). There are multiple kitchens which was nice. Unfortunately, the other residents weren’t very social and the bathroom facilities could use improvements. Overall, we had a good experience but fell short of 9.9 expectations.

The place could be really nice. It was just incredible load. We were woken up early by the upstairs patio. And after the road noise kept us up together with the staff cleaning the kitchen which was right next to us. The place seems really nice and if it was quiet it would have been a fantastic stay. But being woken and kept awake for hours really didn't help.

I wish I could’ve stayed here longer than one night. It’s a beautiful, quaint guest house with a peaceful atmosphere. Tim is very welcoming and happy to answer any questions. The rooms are basic but have all you need, the kitchen and bathrooms were clean. Nicely decorated and the communal areas looked super cosy. Also a small pool and a hammock!

Die meisten Dinge waren absolut ok. Was aus meiner Sicht aber gar nicht geht, ist, dass die Klimaanlage im 3-Stunden Rhythmus eingeschaltet und zugezahlt werden muss. Und das in einer tropischen Stadt wie Cairns!

This hostel is located about 20 minutes from the main strip for food and shopping and etc. I have no complaints other than I think the room and facilities could’ve been cleaner. Everyone including the staff were super nice. I would recommend and come back.

I loved the set up for the outdoor seating. Definitely a chill environment to foster socializing however the stifling heat really didn’t make anyone want to do that. Biggest complaint by far was the lack of AC. Yes there are coin operated heat pumps but they are ineffective to the point where the ceiling fan is better. Bathrooms were fairly clean but we saw no staff during our visit so not sure how often they are checked. There are also termites actively eating away at the windows sills

Super friendly staff, quiet location. I stayed with a friend in a private room, it was very nice and cozy. We can definitely recommend it

I loved staying at this hostel, I felt at home straight away as it's super cosy and chill. The perfect place to rest for a few days. It's also really clean, and they helped me with booking some tours. It's also right opposite the station so great if you're doing the scenic railway or getting a flixbus. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for somewhere to unwind.

My stay at Dreamtime was absolutely amazing. Even though I was there for only four nights, this hostel felt like home. The staff is incredibly friendly and it’s just a really nice and chill atmosphere. I loved it

Beautiful hostel!

Lovely hostel with comfy beds, blackout blinds and lots of toilets and good showers, washing machines and dryers. The only thing I would say is most of the guests walk around with headphones on ignoring everyone around them which I found extremely odd!

Super great hostel, really enjoyed it. The people are very kind and it is easy to make friends. Not a party vibe which for me is preferred. Lots of good common areas. Reception has relatively restricted hours but tries to work with you when coming late or arriving early.

We had an absolute amazing time whilst staying at dreamtime! From the moment we arrived we felt very welcomed by the staff and other guests. We found making friends with the people staying there very easy! Tim was a gem, a fountain of knowledge for the local area, any time we had a request he had a great suggestion. He was able to help us book all our tours and got us a little discount too. Our room was perfect, bed was comfy, and had a fridge which was a bonus. The hostel was also cleaned daily

Very cute hostel. Not every room looks the Same and the staff is super friendly, that makes it feel like a home! Kitchen is very clean and tidy! Only things that could‘ve been better for me: more bathrooms and some events in the evening that makes it easier to socialize with the other guests - I felt like everyone stayed at it‘s own here

Best hostel in Cairns. Feels very homely and cosy, and you can tell it’s well looked after. Very welcoming staff, super clean and lovely vibes. Will be returning when I’m next in Cairns for sure!!

We had a great time staying here when in Cairns. Tim went above and beyond to help us change our booking dates, book tours and even lent me a snorkel for one of them. The hostel has a lovely homely feel with good facilities including two kitchens. There is wifi in the common areas but unfortunately this did not extend to our room. There are also no plug sockets by the beds which could make it a bit tricky to charge devices at night.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. Tim was so kind and couldn’t be more helpful. Very laid back backpacker vibe with a few long term stays too

Incredible hostel. Such a unique feel, staff were incredibly friendly. Location is great. Not much more you need in a hostel
