Gilligan's Backpacker Hotel & Resort Cairns

Il peggiore in assoluto. Sto viaggiando da tre mesi in Australia e questo è il peggiore in cui sono stata. Se sei maleducato, ignorante senza principi e valori, sei un drogato, alcolizzato e vuoi farti party 24/7 allora questo ostello fa al caso tuo, altrimenti per 10dollari in più ce ne sono altri sicuramente più comodi più sicuri. Qua la privacy non esiste, la sicurezza tanto meno, per non parlare di un servizio e attenzione al cliente inesistente. Orribile è riduttivo.

There was a trash can of pee when we entered supposedly clean room MUSIC SO LOUD UNTIL 4 am even with earplugs in Check in process took at least 15 minutes

Do not stay here. I have stayed in hostels all over Europe and Australia and this one was by far the worst. My room was so damp that all your clothes and the beds were wet. At least 8 people told staff and they dismissed all of us until finally the fire alarm went off at 6 am because the humidity and hot air had tripped it. They finally shut down the room and moved me into a different one and did not give me so much as a sorry or offer to refund me the nights spent in that room.

Nightlife is pretty poor - I stayed in the week not over a weekend but still expected it to be better considering its reputation. 6 bed mixed dorm is meant to be quiet however can hear loud bass from the club every night until 4am. Got woken up by construction noise every morning at 8am. Adjoining travel agent desperate for commission - tried to hard sell me tours for 2 hours before I checked in even though I made it clear I’d come back if I was interested about 10 times.

Staff members clearly didn’t want to be working at 7am and not friendly at all. Bed was shaking with the sound of the club next door. Construction works meant you couldn’t use stairs or half the kitchen. So many better hostels in cairns. Just go there for a night out and leave.

It’s was an horrible expérience in this Hostel. To much people in the black Room I’m feel like in a prison. The sound of the music in the Gilligan’s night club go to 3am so it’s very complicated to Sleep before éven with kiess ball. The air conditioning it’s very cold and it’s impossible to move this directly in the Room. I don’t recommand this Hostel.

This is very much a party hostel. If that’s your vibe then have fun. There’s a club downstairs that blasts music until 3am every night. The beds and room weren’t very clean. To be fair, basically every hostel in Cairns is like this so be aware if you are not looking for a party vibe. The staff at the front desk were helpful and polite.

Did not sleep a single night at gilligans even though we were supposed to be in a quiet room. The music was so loud that the bed moved with the bass from the club. Earplugs could definitely not keep it out even though it’s nice that they’re complimentary. Changed to another hostel to be able to sleep

Very good, location wise perfect. Rooms are clean and modern. Big hostel, so plenty of opportunity to get in touch with other backpackers. Leon is definitely the best at the reception. That is very clear.

Joe is the most handsome man in Cairns

Was in great location however if in a bad room you will hear music all night and there was a few holes in the walls which small bugs crawled out of. We were in a 6 bed female dorms which had no lockers, just one small safe for everyone in the room. The kitchen was also not clean, dirty plates put back into the cupboards however that’s more on the residents staying, I cleaned everything before using it.

Das Zimmer ist zwar geräumig, allerdings sind die Räume extrem feucht, dass die Bettwäsche und Matratzen durchgehend feucht sind. Auch Sachen zum Trocknen werden nicht vollständig trocken. Außerdem befinden sich auf den Fleece Decken zum schlafen enorm viele Haare, total widerlich. Der Geruch im Zimmer ist ebenfalls gewöhnungsbedürftig.

Joe honestly made my stay, the whole hostel is a vibe and a half but Joe really pulls it together!!! great staff love this ish

Pretty good stuff, js a curfew on a party hostel is ridiculous and having the checkout at 10 with a person on loud speaker in everyroom saying every morning at 9:30am is unacceptable. Rooms are nice, hostels “party vibe” is intresting, pretty good place to pre drink at happy hour then go somewhere else for music and dancing. Hostel also has a bit of a identity crisis trying to pander to all people leaving everyone lacking. Would book for a few nights but not a top hostel.

I really enjoyed my time at Gilligan’s, theres always an event on every evening and a deal on the food. The staff are all lovely too, especially Leon on the front desk who was always so chatty and helpful :) would recommend staying here if you want a fun time!!

Wow what a great hostel, only knock was the wifi was not good or even accessible while i was staying on the 3rd floor, but they said they were currently working on it. Other than that, what a great fun place to stay while at the Reef!

All as described. Can recommend it!

Bar and accomodation are both really friendly and helpful. One of the best hostels I have stayed in. Joe on reception is amazing at his job
