Che Lagarto Hostel Paraty

Not great, have to make your own bed and unmake before checking out. Rooms are tiny. Bathrooms were gross and need maintenance. Mattresses were stained. Common area is actually lovely and it’s really close to Old Town/bus station.

Private rooms are incredibly mouldy and damp. No Aircon. Terrible WiFi. No safe (despite saying they can't be responsible for your things so keep in locker, they then don't provide lockers for valuables in private rooms). Hostel did good boat tour and some nice staff but honestly stay elsewhere. Pousanda dos Contos which is opposite is 1 million times better, lovely staff, great WiFi, comfy beds, fantastic aircon all for same price. Don't spend your money here on a private room

Average. Female dorm had no AC at all, always hot and many mosquitoes in the room. Staff told management on my first night but still never got fixed three days later. Beds are avg as well the rock lots when the top or bottoms moves

De deur van de kamer ging amper open, geen warme douche, geen spiegel boven de lavabo, kluisjes waren vol roest. Versleten bedden en matrassen.

No utensils to use, extremely dirty bathrooms and the beds are smelling

Honestly this hostel is so expensive for the bad quality of everything. Lockers but no space to lock. Room keys that seemed to stop working for every single person. Not a super good atmosphere and attracts an interesting clientele. Boat tour was good though.

The rooms are so hot, the aircon is an old unit that doesn’t work very well at all. There’s only one bathroom which means one is never available, it was also not cleaned once during our stay and was very dirty. The WiFi doesn’t work in the rooms, despite having 3 networks and is very temperamental when in the common areas. Some of the reception staff were rude and really unhelpful at times. Overall we were really not impressed with the hostel and wouldn’t recommend!

Nous avons passé deux nuits à l’auberge, les lieux communs sont biens et le personnel (piscine, billard payant). Le gros point négatif sont les dortoirs. L’ouverture de la porte marchait 1 sur 2, 1 wc pour 10, la propreté se laisse à désirer, les casiers placés sous les lits ne sont pas fonctionnels et font énormément de bruit à l’ouverture/fermeture, les portes des sanitaires également. Not a good hostel. Shared rooms felt unsecured, lockers didn’t work, no curtains and generally dirty and dingy. There was one lovely young receptionist who helped me move to a private room, otherwise the staff were unfriendly and quite rude. No social atmosphere. Breakfast was ok and location was fine. I recommend skipping this hostel and other hostels in Paraty and staying in a traditional pousada instead.

Nous avons dû faire notre propre check in et avons fait nos lits nous même. La prise à côté de mon lit a grésillé tout du long du séjour. La salle de bains n’était pas très propre et sentait les égouts. Les lits mériteraient d’être changés. Il n’y avait pas d’ambiance sur place.

Amazing place to meet new people! The common area is very social, the staff is friendly and helpful and the kitchen is well equipped, even though it's a bit small. The drinks at the bar are cheap and delicious. I haven't tried the breakfast myself, but it looked really good.

Good hostel. I stayed in a mixed door the first night and the bathroom was tiny and not clean, but the second night I was in an all female dorm which was much better, the bathroom was huge and the room had space too. Only thing was it was above the bar and near the outdoor area so music was playing all night really loud.

This hosel exceeded my expectations from what I’d see in its pictures. I was in the female only dorm in the main building and it was light and airy - the only draw back was we had one bathroom between 10 of us. The social area is lovely and tiny monkeys come to eat fruit from your hand! Very well located.

Adorei os dias que passei no hostel. A recepção é excelente, todos bem receptivos. Ambiente maravilhoso, agradável. E o Flávio do bar também é excelente com os drinks dele. Recomendo!

Great location and really nice bar and social area. However, surprisingly not a super social hostel could do with activities being set up and kitchen area is small. Bathrooms are small and unclean and having the sink outside the bathroom is inconvenient.

J’ai adoré mon séjour dans ce lieu, le personnel est super, les installations sont top. Je pense que ce serait bien d’avoir un sèche cheveux dans les salles de bain, mais autrement tout était parfait !

Nice hostel I recommend

It was overall worth the price! The staff was very helpful and nice. The bathrooms were few and not very clean plus extremely small, without any hooks or place to put ur things:( The breakfast was good too!

Nur ein Bad für zwei große Schlafräume, das nicht immer sauber war. Ansonsten zu empfehlen, gute Atmosphäre und sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter

It was ok. The location is great, but the rooms are incredibly small and the lockers provided were mostly broken. The plug on my bed was also broken, as well as no one could figure out how to open the door. The main issue was with the staff. (Minus the guy with the braces) the staff looked like they hated being there, it made the stay a lot more uncomfortable than it needed to be.

Hermoso hostel, buena ubicación y servicios. Es muy limpio y el personal es amable. Lo recomiendo

We enjoyed our stay in Che Lagarto Hostel in Paraty. The staff was really friendly, and they had great tips on what to do in the area. The room itself was a bit old, and we felt that the pictures didn’t fully show how the place is in reality, even though the common areas were nice. The breakfast was great and affordable!

pretty bog standard experience for a Brazilian hostel. Toilets in the room slightly below average- could do with more frequent cleaning, locking mechanism for the lockers in the room are weirdly shaped so its hard for locks to fit through. Bed mattress resemble a gym matt. Staff were nice enough and the breakfast is alright. The people made this a 7.4 because it was social and no curtains in the rooms means everyone chats

The bathroom in the room was not adapted so tiny, the kitchen was not functionnal, nothing to secure the locker for your bag. but quite nice place

Absolut wunderbarer Aufenthalt und super zum Leute kennenlernen! Der Garten mit Hängematten und Pool lädt wunderbar für gemeinsame Abende ein:) Auch der Raum war geräumig und gut aufgeteilt. Wir hatten ein kleines Ameisenproblem und die Steckdosen haben teilweise nicht funktioniert, ansonsten alles top:)
