Hostel Bongo

A hostel that has in the past won Serbias Best. However it is now starting to feel a little tired, although nothing that a bit of basic maintenance wouldn't help. It has electronic security for all the doors, but that doesn't work. It is a little difficult to find, there is nothing indicating it on the alleyway that you need to take from the main street until you have done a couple of corners. Staff are difficult to locate at reception

Great location, but wouldn’t stay again. AC was offered but not actually available — remote was taken away or didn’t work, and nights were unbearably hot. Staff often argued and even gossiped about guests. The dorm setup felt disorganized, with long-term guests and staff prioritized over short-term visitors. Unpleasant vibe overall. A staff member even put the blame on me for the vibe. Valentina were great though and showed an effort for the stay.

Too many beds crammed in 1 room, there was no air circulation. No travellers spirit. Too many people staying in the hostel for long term. The constant presence of these residents having calls, cooking or chilling creates a weird vibe.

A nice hostel with very nice staff. The shared rooms are tidy and comfortable. I just would not recommend booking the private rooms in the basement. There is mold in the basement and sensitive or allergic people might have trouble sleeping there at all.

I had overall a pleasant stay. Staff, specially Valentina and Tamara, are very friendly and helpful when it comes to tips on what to see in the city. The location is wonderfully central and one can get almost everywhere within a 20-minute bus ride. The hostel is clean but would need some maintenance / renovation due to some mold and ruined doors in the toilet downstairs. Nevertheless, I warmly recommend staying there for a short trip to Belgrad as price/quality is definately good.

The staff were very friendly, though it was hard to tell who was a staff member at first as there were a lot of long term stayers and volunteers. One of the long stayers did seem to be very comfortable with the space that it felt intimidating as a new comer to use the small common space. The staff were always quick to assist. Very hard to find as I was arriving in the dark and had to go through an abandoned shopping mall. Did not feel very safe.

Good, but the ventilation makes a little light in the individual rooms which can disturb sleeping. The location is probably the best asset of the hostel and the hosts were warm

The staff were so helpfull and gave us lots of tips for the city as well as some of our next stops in different countries! The atmosphere in the place is great and very social, the owners are young and get involved too! Rooms are decent with a large storage space than can be locked! Bathrooms are very modern and very clean, the staff clean the place daily. Great location for walking the city and overall would reccomend for anyone!

Located in busy old town but not directly by any busy road, so very quiet. Full function kitchen, though a bit compact. Internet very fast Blanket a bit short for an 1.8m guy Bunk bed strong and noise free Top bed doesn't have power socket Half rooms (both private ones) are in basement A small yard for fresh air and (mostly) smoking Small library featuring Xi's philosophy in running a country (indefinitely) Two extroverted owners and one quieter staff, and some nice volunteers

Nice spot, very well located, friendly staff. I'm sensitive to it so, it likely bothers me me than others: everyone in Belgrade seems to smoke and the smoking patio is right next to the kitchen and bedrooms. My clothes, bed, kitchen, cooking and I all smelled like a 1996 club. Otherwise, lively experience and would do again.

I highly recommend that anyone staying in Belgrade go to Hostel Bongo. The owners are incredibly helpful, and I had really interesting conversations with them and the other guests. Everyone went above and beyond to make me feel welcome.

The most welcoming, homely hostel you can get. It has a great location in the center of Belgrade. We were greeted by the fantastic owner Tamara, who made us feel welcomed from the first second. The rest of the staff through our stay was helpful, sweet and talkative. Rooms were clean and spacious. If you want a cozy and social hostel, this is the place to be. Can’t recommend this enough.

Excelente alojamiento. La ubicación es extraordinaria, súper limpio y con cómodos ambientes para relajarse, comer, trabajar o conversar. Tiene una cocina completamente equipada, buenos baños y está a pasos de todo. El personal es demasiado amigable, muy atento y dispuesto a ayudar siempre. Esperaba quizás poder sociabilizar un poco más con los demás huéspedes, pero quizás no tuve suerte.

was made to feel right at home here, the staff and guests were all so lovely. One of the managers one of the managers is very knowledgeable and was happy to tell me all about belgrade's rich history. 10/10 will have to return purely for the hostel

We loved the hostel! Best people, amazing location with a beautiful, quiet closed street to access the hostel. Everything worked perfectly, we are only sad we didn’t stay longer.

Ich hatte eine super Zeit im Hostel Bongo. Es ist einer der coolsten Hostels indem ich je war. Die Mitarbeiter sind einfach unglaublich freundlich und helfen wo sie nur können. Wer ein Hostel sucht, wo man schnell Anschluss findet und sich wohl fühlt, ist hier genau richtig. Werde sicherlich wieder kommen :-).

Kamers waren goed en schoon, er zijn grote kluisjes. Douche was fijn maar niet super schoon. Keuken was goed maar 1 pitje werkte. Locatie is goed en personeel ook.

Great location and cute layout. Friendly staff and easy access. Would improve the visibility of the location as it has minimal signage.

This place is amazing, people are super friendly! Dusan is a living encyclopedia even if a partisan supporter. Tamara is just amazing, she's the coolest!! She have a lot of story and she's very kind! The volunteers are super chill and always up to to make some activities. I recommend this place 1000%
