Gecko Guesthouse

The hostel itself is not bad but the owner or manager (not sure) is so so rude!! Don’t go to this hostel! Extremely disrespectful and rassist! This is the first time in my entire life I write a bad review but this time it is important to share my experience:(

The reception is extremely rude to all guests. You don't feel welcome. Better you go to the neigbour hostels.

I can see what it’s called Gecko Guesthouse. Saw two lizards in my room and ants in the bed! Dirty and cheap hostel

I spend the worst 4 night in Malaysia, the beds make to much noise all the night I week up and try to sleep again and it’s not comfortable at all, the room was for homeless people not for Travler, i was talking to one of the staff about the noise, he said that what we have !

the dorm was not clean, very loud place and the stuff was very bad, I was too tired from the travel and the receptionist gave me the bed cover and towel cover and told me to make my bed 🤷

The doors in the mixed dorm do not lock, so anyone could walk off the street into the room. The hostel is at the bottom of a very quiet, dark street and there is no central gate to get into the property. I felt extremely unsafe as a female solo-traveller and moved into a private room as soon as I could.

Not very social hostel No activities from the hostel itself People were drinking in the morning and in the evening everybody was gone. But the chalets were nice, clean and sweet. Many cats there :)

They need to improve their place

Great Hostel, the staff was nice and the dorm room are good. But the shower are a bit small and the water run low sometimes. Missing a kitchen for those wanting to cook for themselves. Other than that, pretty clean place, and very close to the beach and to the center of Pennang

mériterait un petit rafraîchissement sur la déco/peinture, pas de rideau dans le dortoir féminin, très bon emplacement, calme, petit casier pour un petit sac à dos/ à main mais rien pour le sac de voyage

Tom made the stay for me, feeding us breakfast and even dropping me to the ferry when I was in a rush. thank you tom x

liked the location, cheap places to eat , great hairdressers close by . Not far from the beach . Don’t like aircon and no aircon in my room .but had a fan , private rooms were quite reasonable price .very clean bathrooms . Only thing was no drinking hot water for tea , or cold water coming out of the cool water machine. Stopped working from time to time . It’s a nice hostel

Beds so uncomfy. Dorm gross. No curtains. No plugs so have to charge ur phone in the middle of the room on an extension cable which sucks if you’re on a top bunk. Social area decent

Haben uns wohl gefühlt. Nette Menschen kennengelernt. Alles da, was man braucht. Super Lage, zentral und doch etwas abseits der Straße.

yeah very chill nice hostel. you can find hamak but like in the pictures. them for the private rooms. but hostel has hippie vibe if you like that things

It was just good vibes all around. Lots of cute cats everywhere they really do take good care of them. The only thing was that the AC wasnt too strong so a bit hard to sleep at night

Posto carino! L’aerea comune è bella, atmosfera tranquilla. Distributore di acqua calda e fredda. I letti cigolano un poco. Lo consiglio!

Close to beach and the shops. Friendly atmospere

Gecko was an amazing stay felt like home for 2 weeks, workers are amazing! The cats are adorable and the accomodation was lovely and homely

Very budget hotel for backpackers. Don’t expect much and you will not be disappointed. Recommend if you are on tight budget. I love all those cats 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 they have so many of them

Enjoyed my stay here, but it was very quiet. The staff were lovely though and the goat adorable. Lots of cats if you are a cat lover like us. Just FYI check if you room has A/C as ours did not and it was very very hot. If it were busier we would have scored much higher.

-Great atmosphere -Great, helpful and friendly staff -good tour booking ability -good facilities -great location, close to beach, shops and restaurants -music played until midnight, great environment for young travellers on a budget, wanting to meet alike people. LOTS OF CATS 😸😸😸😸
