Haka House Auckland K’ Road

I arrived after reception had closed so had to use the app to access my room, then the app stopped working in the middle of night leaving me locked out of my room with nothing but my phone. By far the worst experience I have ever had in a hostel. Do not recommend

Stayed in the shared room, not very clean, no proper lighting in spaces, broken under bed storage, paid luggage storage.

No possibility to put our bikes somewhere. stuff was not helpfull at all to find a solution for our problem or to help us. we spend some time freezing in the rain and finally needed to sleep in an other place without getting any refund.

really unfriendly vibes, just loads of passive aggressive notices/fines and no face to face contact- would not recommend

Pictures of the bathrooms aren’t accurate. All of the bathrooms and showers were really poor condition. I stayed in a mixed bed form which stank and very little option for aircon / windows. Just pay for the hotel instead.

On friday and Saturday night, there is no hope of sleeping before 4am, as the noise from the bars and parties so loud that you feel your bed is actually in the middle of the street. The beds are so shaky, climbing up and down is a safety hazard. Showers were dirty. From all the personal only one person was remotely helpful when I had questions After check out (10 am), I couldn't chill in the hostel until my bus (11am) for free. I had to pay for them to put my backpack away. What a joke

Too noisy outside, we couldn’t sleep (the windows were rubbish)

Generally a weird vibe. In a dodgy area which definitely does not feel safe at night. The curtains in the room were basically none existent and it was very loud outside the hostel. Had to go out and buy some ear plugs and an eye mask. I recommend you book another hostel.

The staff are bloody arrogant and ignorant, don't greet you, apparently think they're better than you. The repetitive yelling at night to clear the kitchen seems bloody unnecessary. It's the worst hostel I've been to because of the location and the staff.

Extremely noisy. Heaters did not work in room. No staff available to discuss with.

The Area is a Bit shady

All staff was extremely helpful and friendly! The only thing that is a little annoying is that the kitchen closes at 10 for 1 hour for cleaning 😜. But always very clean

fantastic, just fantastic. literally only thing I dislike is that the deadbolts on the lockers have visible philips head screws, it’d be completely trivial to take off while ignoring your lock completely. at least use two different screws that are harder to come by. also, k’road has some homeless people, but it’s really not a problem. just don’t be afraid of poor people and it’s fine

When you move to a new country, it’s often hard to find friends, support, and a sense of belonging. My stay at this hostel has been truly special—it’s helped me grow and find a little support and a family I never expected. I’m grateful to have stayed here, and I’m sure your stay will be just as special as mine was, if only you find a way to stay a little longer than planned. A very bad experience here. The dorm is in the basement, feeling like a cellar, with no natural light and a cramped, unwelcoming room even with curtained beds.The bathrooms (also in the basement) are often dirty, wallpaper peeling, and you have to go through three badge controlled doors to reach them. Makes you wonder, is this a prison?Maybe it is, but at least it protects from outside. The neighborhood is rough, with drug users around at all hours, and you will hear their arguments at night...

Le rapport qualité-prix est très bon, c'est une bonne auberge à proximité de commerce, bar et restos. La chambre de 20 est très bien agencée

Séjour incroyable à Haka House Auckland (K Road) ! Je devais rester 1 semaine… et j’y suis restée plus de 2 mois 😊 Je me suis toujours sentie en sécurité. Tout est très propre, toilettes et douches impeccables en permanence. Le staff est super friendly et chaleureux. Après avoir testé plusieurs auberges, c’est clairement la meilleure pour le prix. Les lits sont confortables avec rideaux, un vrai cocon. On s’y sent comme à la maison. Je recommande à 100 % !

Amazing hostel for solo backpackers who want to meet people easily. Close to the city centre: about a 15-minute walk or 8 minutes by bus. Nightlife is right on the doorstep with plenty of bars and clubs. I stayed a week and quickly met great people. The hostel has a large common area and a well-equipped kitchen. Rooms are comfortable with privacy curtains on every bed, and everything is very clean. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming – it almost feels like one big family.

Like all the reviews say, it’s a crazy area but the staff and people inside are good. Great value and a fun start to my trip.

Enttäuscht

Would recommend, well situated and close to everything (even if the street can feel unsafe at night). Bring ear plugs because the windows have to stay open for the dorm to be cool! The kitchen and common area was well equipped and clean.

I really liked my stay there, overall everything was great !!! The only negative point would be that there were a massive amount of Frenchies lmao

Einige Punkte Abzug, da die Unterkunft nicht dem gewohnten „Haka- Standard“ entspricht. Die K‘Street ist Abend/nachts Furchtbar. Viele Kaputte Leute unterwegs und nachts ein erhöhter Lärmpegel. Das Haus ist alt, die Betten und Einrichtungen ebenfalls. Ich musste morgens um 5:30 zum Airports aufbrechen und Esswaren unangenehm zu dieser Ueit alleine in dieser Straße zu sein. Ich würde hier nicht mehr übernachten.

Hi, I was for 6 night, The staff is great, I loved this place, If you need silence to sleep take some earplug, The sound isolation is not good, But if you don't care like me, enjoy this place! I recommend !

Great spot and the hype about K road is totally overblown don’t worry

If you're looking for a friendly and welcoming environment, you must come to Haka House K Road. I lived there for four months, and I had one of the best days of my life. I make many friends there, and the staff members were always nice, fun and in a good mood -- I love you guys. The hostel is in one of the best streets of Auckland for parties, and it is clean, organized, and the beds are really comfortable.

Solides Hostel, der etwas kleinere Gemeinschaftsbereich fand ich eigentlich sehr gut, weil man besser mit anderen zusammengekommen ist. K‘Road abends zwar etwas lauter, dafür gibts aber zu jeder Zeit gut und günstig was zu essen

only downside is the location, first night i was there, there was a massive fight outside which made national news. All over things about this place is great, great host and facilities, clean rooms and friendly people in this location
