Poppies Mirissa

The advertisement of the hostel clearly stated that there will be breakfast included in the price. There was no option to select or deselect breakfast while booking the accommodation. we were denied breakfast on the second morning. The manager stated that there was no breakfast in our booking. We tried to show her that there is no option to deselect breakfast and that it clearly states that breakfast is free. She got really angry and wanted us to pay again, saying that it is not her problem.

Prima locatie, dichtbij de hoofdstraat. Mijn kamer (basic, met slechts één ongezellig fel tl-licht) grensde aan de receptie en was erg gehorig. De eigenaar hield hier geen rekening mee (luid bellen, muziek, etc). Op deze app staat vermeld dat ontbijt inbegrepen is, maar dit is niet het geval. Toen ik de eigenaar hierop wees, was hij niet bereid om mee te denken.

Kushan and the team go above and beyond to ensure every guest has a great stay. They were very kind, always happy to offer recommendations and answer any questions. One evening, they even took the time to teach me how to make Sri Lankan food with a private cooking class at the hotel, which will be a highlight of my whole trip. The room was clean & comfortable, with good AC and great location. Highly, highly recommend Poppies if you’re coming to Mirissa!

We had a fantastic stay at Poppies. We had a private double room for 3 nights which was clean and comfortable. The room had air con and the bed had sufficient netting to protect from insects. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. We would recommend booking trips through their team as they get a discounted rate (inc Raja and the Whales, turtle watching etc). The breakfast could be a little more substantial as it only included a fried egg, bread and a juice. However, there are plenty of ...
