La Chimba Hostel

My first time staying in a hostel and it was really good. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly and the location was perfect. Lots of different common areas to vibe and meet people or to quietly read a book. I would def stay here again.

Really lovely spacious hostel, the stay was awesome. The staff are also very friendly and the bar is a nice spot to meet other travelers.

Probably the worst hostel I’ve stayed at in terms of organising events and engaging those staying there. There was a WhatsApp group but there were no messages in the 3 days I stayed there. The bathrooms were filthy and the rooms were quite cold. There was only one proper plug in a room with 4 people. The location was fine but surrounded by nightclubs so might be a different story at weekends

None of the hostels I could find in Santiago were that well reviewed but I liked the look of La Chimba. It was quiet when I was there which can't be helped but there isn't really a universal social space as it's very spread out. The dorm was also freezing cold each night - warm showers though. Location is a 10 min walk from the metro which doesn't feel super safe in the evening but the main street does have lots of bars and restaurants nearby so if you go, stick to walking in the busy area.

Great vibe! Loved it here, definitely recommend staying.

Has everything you need, is very social. Staff is nice. I could store my bag here for free while I went to Easter Island.

pretty ok location, most of the people arriving here are groups, therefore harder for solo travelers to connect to people. other than that pretty nice

The staff were lovely and our room was good! The place is massive so lots of social areas to choose from. The surrounding area isn’t the safest to be, especially at night but they have very secure gates so there’s no question of safety within the hostel itself. Also, it’s really loud at night if you get a room near the front but if you’re at the back it’s perfect!

Cooles Hostel. Kamen hier nach unserem Flug hin und wurden herzlichst begrüßt. Das hostel bietet viele Aktivitäten an, kann die Stadtführung mit Alejandra und den Pubcrawl mega empfehlen. Zwei Küchen gibts wo man ganz gut kochen kann. Alles in allem war’s echt nice.

This hostel was excellent we loved the place and the facilities were great. We had some very anti-social behaviour due to other travellers in our dorm, the staff allowed us to move rooms no added charge

Diversos problemas e alguns deles sérios. Primeiro, 3 ou 4 residentes comentando sobre pequenos furtos e perdas de itens (um incluindo um dos funcionários). Fui indicado a um quarto que não possuía banheiro privativo, me disseram que me migrariam de quarto no terceiro dia. Não tinha toalha no quarto e quase que não tinha nenhuma no hostel. Quando chegou a hora de migrar meu quarto, confirmei duas vezes e acordei cedo para tirar tudo do quarto e deram pra outro hóspede. Falta comunicação...

Sinceramente esperaba que las habitaciones sean un poco mejores. el colchon estaba vencido y las almohadas y sabanas tenian demasiado uso. el mantenimiento general del lugar es bastante mediocre

I really liked this hostel. Cool vibes from the minute you walk in. The place is huge and has plenty of outdoor space and indoor space available for hanging out. The staff was helpful and friendly. I also thought the neighborhood around the hostel was super cool.
