+ I liked absolutely nothing!

- We arrived to check in and our room was in the reception area! The room had zero privacy with people constantly walking by as as it opened into the reception area court yard. With this set up you would need to have the curtains permanently closed for any privacy so there would be no natural light. The rooms in this area should be admin /staff areas and not guest bedrooms. We asked to be moved but they were fully booked. I accept we booked a non-refundable room but decided to leave this prison set up and asked for a refund as the hotel is guilty of fraudulent misrepresentation - their website is dishonest and deceptive and they should clearly show the set up as it is and not falsely advertise. The hotel simply refused to refund us even for a night and Booking.com were equally unhelpful and refused to refund us even though we had been duped and defrauded. Be wary of booking without clarifying the room and floor number if you must book!

+ L’emplacement. La taille de la chambre et les équipements sont bien.

- Nous avons été prélevées deux fois pour le montant des nuits passées, et le remboursement a été extrêmement difficile à obtenir. Il a fallu plus d’un mois, malgré de nombreuses relances, et la somme remboursée ne correspond même pas exactement au montant initialement prélevé. Le service du petit-déjeuner est également très décevant : près d’une heure d’attente pour une simple omelette et un bol de granola avec fruits. L’hôtel est nettement moins beau en réalité que sur les photos, et l’isolation est très mauvaise : on entend tous les bruits de la rue depuis la chambre.

+ L'emplacement, la piscine sur le toit, la propreté

- Beaucoup de choses - le petit déjeuner est vraiment petit. Aucune possibilité de changer la boisson au jus de fruit, le café est forcément américain - tout est sujet à supplément - il faut déposer un gros deposit ou laisser son passeport qu'il ne rende qu'à la dernière minute tout en exigeant que l'on paye des consommations que nous n'avons jamais prise. Ils vous montrent des photos comme preuve alors que cela ne correspond absolument pas à la réalité. - impossibilité de récupérer le passeport si on ne paye pas ce qui n'a pas été consommé. J'ai regardé leurs réponses et ils rejettent tout sur le client quand les notes sont mauvaises. Aucune Remise en cause. Personnel très antipathique à l'accueil notamment pour une personne. Totalement anti-commercial.

+ L’emplacement le rooftop et la chambre.

- Personnel désagréable au possible à la recherche de la moindre opportunité pour vous facturer des extras (et ça va loin : micro tache sur une serviette de bain) - erreur sur le montant à payer de la chambre aucun geste commercial ni excuse - Petit déjeuner trop léger si on ne paye pas de supplément - en résumé à l’image de Tulum -un huis clos pour vous détrousser.

+ Het bed was erg groot en comfortabel, en de douche was ook fijn. Daarnaast is de locatie goed als je in het centrum van Tulum wilt verblijven.

- Het hotel is erg duur voor wat je krijgt en de foto’s geven geen realistisch beeld van de staat van de accommodatie. Sommige dingen waren niet schoon. De kamer zelf was vrij basic en saai. Het zwembad is niet echt bruikbaar om te relaxen, omdat er geen ligbedden zijn. Het ontbijt was beperkt en niet bijzonder. Al met al begrijp ik niet hoe dit hotel zulke hoge beoordelingen krijgt.

+ This is definitely not a 5-star hotel, despite what the pictures might suggest. Online, it looks like you’re booking a stay at the Taj Mahal – the reality couldn’t be further from that. In fact, I’m not even sure if this should be classified as a proper hotel or just rooms for rent. Positives: The only real highlight of our stay was the staff – genuinely friendly and always wearing a smile. The location was okay, with some nice bars and restaurants nearby, though nothing particularly special. Negatives: The list, unfortunately, is much longer. First and foremost, the place has a severe mold issue. Our room smelled terrible, and all of our belongings absorbed the odor. Even after washing our clothes twice, many items still smelled awful. My hair carried the smell for days, despite multiple showers – it was that bad. The pictures are extremely misleading. What you see online is far from what you get in person. “Includes breakfast” is misleading too – it refers to a very limited, specific option. Don’t expect variety or anything close to a proper breakfast experience. They also overcharge for bicycle rentals. The hotel asked for 300 pesos per bike, while we found a place nearby that gave us two for the same price. Another big disappointment was their tour recommendations. We asked for help with day trips to places like the pyramids and cenotes. They pointed us to an agency that charged us almost double what others on the exact same trip paid. We later learned the hotel takes a €20 commission per booking – which is no small amount and this was the first time we’ve ever experienced a hotel keeping a provision like that for recommending a tour. When we explained what had happened, their response was dismissive, almost laughable. There were a few other small issues too, but by then, we were already disappointed. This place is totally overpriced for what it offers. The worst part is the false expectations created by the photos and “5-star” label.

- במקלחת הייתה דליפה שהציפה את כל החדר ואת המזוודות שלנו + היחס של צוות המלון היה גרוע ולא מכבד. המרפסת שקיבלנו הייתה לכיוון המעלית איפה שכל האנשים עוברים ורואים אותך יושב בבגד ים - הזוי (ממש לא כמו בתמונות)

+ It’s really uncomfortable area to stay at, the room feels very insecure and uncomfortable to stay at.

- We wanted to cancel our reservation although we haven’t stay there for half an hour and we had reservation for 3 days in a row, the management refused to give us refund and charged us for the taxi to the other hotel, they ruined our honeymoon, bad experience. I approached the hotel afterwards and they haven’t offer any realistic compensation

+ Layla Tulum Hotel was quite disappointing overall. The only positive thing was the kind and welcoming lady at the reception who had a very positive attitude.

- Layla Tulum Hotel was a major disappointment. For the amount we paid, we could have stayed in far better and more unique hotels. It was definitely not worth the price. The property was poorly maintained and looked old and worn out, much worse than it appeared in the photos. The location felt very unsafe, and after dark we were followed and bothered by strangers several times near the hotel. They also blocked a large deposit on our card, which felt insulting given how cheap and basic the room furnishings were. It was unclear why such a deposit was even required. Although breakfast was included in our booking, every morning several staff members repeatedly questioned and checked it with us and asked for signatures, which was uncomfortable and disrespectful considering how much we had paid. The pool and common areas were also very small and crowded, nothing like the beautiful photos shown online.

+ The decor is incredible. The massive piece of art by the ground level pool is spectacular. Ive never seen something like that in all my travels. There is certainly a Moroccan influence which I love. The roof top pool with chilled hang out facilities and good music was a real treat. I think the option of having the ground level pool for cooling off (as the water is definitely cooler) and the roof top pool for getting some sun on my pasty British skin was a standout positive. We stayed in a ground level which was very generous in size and had beautiful high ceilings. There is also a massive walk in shower. Most of the room is screeded which I personally love.

- A small, yet temporary, thing we didn’t enjoy was the maintenance work being done on the roof top. This was only one day so wasn’t a huge issue. Perhaps could have been scheduled for the quiet season.

+ Property is absolutely gorgeous and very well placed to coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and great local Taco spots. The front desk staff were absolutely the best, they went above and beyond, specifically Elena and Catalina, they were gems and truly made our stay terrific, so helpful and sweet.

+ Organized at the best, sparkling clean, great location if you want to be in town and near the beach(have to move by car or bike). The rooms were spacious, had everything we needed. Breakfast had 3 choices, more than enough in quantity and quality. The staff was exceptional. I will return.

- I understand that filtered coffee is the normality and it is generally offered, but i would have loved if the breakfast had espressos included. It is not a thing i didn't like though, just something to precise.

+ Buena ubicación, excelente trato personal. Habitación chill y limpia con un diseño muy chulo! Incluso si no vas a ningún sitio puedes tirar un día entero en el techo y en la habitación del hotel cómodamente. Super recomendable.

+ I’ve been to Tulum many times and this was the first time staying at this hotel. By far the experience had mad huge difference comparing to my previous visits. From the moment I stepped in to the reception until check out, the service was over and beyond. Great customer service by all staff from the front desk to the housekeeping to the room service to the bar staff. They truly made my stay enjoyable and memorable. Very close distance to anything you need in downtown, also they offer many options that suits your needs, whatever they might be. This by far is the best hotel in Tulum I’ve ever been to. You won’t go wrong by choosing them.

+ Dal momento del check in mi sono sentita subito sicura e come in casa. L’hotel e’ situato nel centro di Tulum, tutto e’ a pochi passi: ristoranti, bar, musica dal vivo e shopping. Lo staff mi ha fornito moltissime informazioni su come muovermi, sull’escursioni che potevo fare durante il mio soggiorno. Tutto e’ stato come mi e’ stato descritto; la piu’ bella e’ stata la riserva di Sian Kaan, nel mezzo della natura e degli animali. Ultimo, ma non meno importante: lo stile di Laya, unico nel suo genere, i dettagli delle camere e dell’edificio, la pulizia e l’attenzione in tutto. Indubbiamente raccomandabile al 100%.

+ Amazing Moroccan style and features. Calming and welcoming. Room very comfortable with lovely hot shower and comfy bed. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. Pancakes, muesli, eggs etc. and lovely sitting on roof overlooking pool.

- Unfortunately the design of the building means rooms on the end of the row can be looked into from corridor as people leave lift, so have to have net curtains drawn whole time for privacy.

+ Fabulous hotel. From the beautiful design to the wonderful bed and bathroom. Lovely breakfast and charming staff. Loved the rooftop bar and pool. Had breakfast there every day. We went to the sister hotel Sana’s beach club which was a bit confusing. The 1000 pesos you pay for the sun bed is actually credit for food and drink. No one explained this to us but it was sorted in the end. Lovely beach front and very comfortable beds!

- Nothing! I’m glad I didn’t have a ground floor room as they open directly onto the reception area and walkway to the lift. 2nd floor with balcony was great. I was worried about no private parking but we got parked across the street every night.
