Rip off. One day stay but still charged 50 a night for what I'd call a scam. Numerous odd characters that didn't seem to belong there. Pretty sure they screw the out of town people to provide for the garbage they allow to stay there. Don't stay in think shithole!
The bathrooms are smelt and most of the time occupied. Located upstairs, but without an elevator. The carpet is old and smelt. Staff has only a few are friendly. The price is up and down, not stable. I won't be back unless it is improved.
Positives :Staff was amazing. Location was great (Minus all the homeless people right outside). Free breakfast. Negatives: the rooms/bathroom were very dirty. Bed was like sleeping on rocks. You have to make your own bed and strip everything after you leave. There was no ac in the entire building , so the rooms were very cramped and hot. You do have a fan on each bunk but doesn’t really cool down the space. Again, the staff is what makes this stay a good stay, not the building itself.
It was ridiculously hot in the hostel, I was given a bunk with a ladder that made it extremely difficult to get to my bed and I fell a few times. The fan that was supposed to be mounted on the ceiling fell and the very sharp screws cut up my ankle. The lockers were difficult to get to and there was no space to get things out/organized because the room was way too small for 8 people. The bathrooms all had different issues like toilet seats coming off the toilet. Worst hostel I've stayed at.
TINIEST room - only "space" in the room is door frame-wide and two beds-long corridor, no window so no fresh air and no natural light, no shelf at beds, loud dusty fans at each bed, mattress is old and uncomfortable, very short bed (not for people over 1,70m). No window in bathroom so really bad smell and moist air, no shelf for clothes/keycard etc, dirty at all times, shower doors don't close so water everywhere. smoking room connects to "common room" so smells like weed and cigarettes everywhe
Mattress was horrible - curved out old mattress! Bathroom showers bad. Location great!
Doesn't have to do with the service at Hostel. It's the location. Too many sad homeless lying on the sidewalks, vslerping in the cold, November rain while luxury cars of I guess local Seattle residents are parked in crowded parking lot around the corner. Have to pay UD$20 for overnight parking. There were too many international travelers and domestic US travelers in this extremely crowded, full hostel staying Saturday after Thanksgiving. Nobody answered door or phone. I couldn't get in.
This trip took us from Chicago to Seattle to Portland and back to Chicago. Of these three, the hostel in Seattle was the most centrally located, but also in a pretty rough area which is the central tourist area. Downtown Seattle just seems to have a real homeless/drug problem. It was a haven. It was also expensive, very expensive for a private room.
Rooms were cramped and the beds were really small. The blanket they provided didnt cover my feet! Theres no air con in the rooms so every bed has a little fan. If a few of these are running at the same time the noise in the room is horriffic. The layout of the kitchen and breakfast are was really bad and everyone keeps getting in eachothers way as a result

A great place to stay and enjoy the port city of seattle.
Fantastic location - overlooking the Park Place Market (10 steps away) - a couple blocks to light rail to/from the airport and for exploring the city. LOVE the hostel kitchen... plenty of equipment, commercial stoves and plenty of refrigeration. Spacious common area.... room was good - bed was a bit short for me (6'4") but curtains and nice sheets. Individual bathrooms w shower is terrific. Great Vibe
I’ve stayed in dozens of hostels all over the world, and this hostel is exceptional. You’re right in Pike Place and next to a target, the location couldn’t be better. The staff are so helpful and kind. The beds and rooms are much nicer than most hostels I’ve stayed in, and there’s ample resources for things to do provided at the desk. The kitchen and amenities are excellent. Felt very safe as a solo woman. I can’t wait to come back next time I’m in Seattle!
Was really impressed with Green Tortoise! The location can’t be beat and the facilities were fantastic. Staff were all kind and helpful and the information about tours and things to do were excellent. I highly recommend this place!
This was possibly the best hostel experience I’ve ever had. Didn’t really speak to many people but for those I did, very friendly, especially the all the different boards for recommendations to do. In addition, the location is top notch as it’s basically feet away from the Pike Place Market. Highly recommend.
for being the second hostel I've ever stayed in. this one is the best. the character and location is great.
Great location! Lots of stuff to do nearby, and near multiple transit stops if you want to explore the rest of Seattle! Rooms were very small and a bit stuffy. I liked how each hallway and room was locked with only card access. But, as a female solo traveler, I probably wouldn’t be out in the surrounding area at night just for my own safety!
Great hostel, very social and the location opposite the market is perfect. The events each night are actually well attended and the vibe was good.
I liked it a lot it just seemed like a lot of homeless were hanging right in front of the entrance which isnt their fault whatsoever and it was also really loud even at night but otherwise location was fantastic the community was great, super clean and well maintained.
The staff here is so fun and nice!! I wish I could’ve stayed longer but I will be back. The location is literally the best. They don’t have parking but if you park in the garage nearby they will validate your ticket which makes the total $21 for 24 hours. The space feels very homey and comfortable. It was a bit warm in the room but each bunk has their own fan and light! They have fun stuff pretty much every night. When I was there it was free beer night! And they have free breakfast every da...
For my first Hostel experience, very lovely. The staff showed me my bunk, and how the lockers work. I was right in the Market Place essentially so being near the action, the train, and all the coffee shops was such a plus. The showers were very spacious so I had places to hang my towel and clothes so nothing got wet. Would definitely stay hear again.
Rip off. One day stay but still charged 50 a night for what I'd call a scam. Numerous odd characters that didn't seem to belong there. Pretty sure they screw the out of town people to provide for the garbage they allow to stay there. Don't stay in think shithole!
I've been to many hostels around the globe and this really is a great one!
I stayed here the night Feb 27th & Feb 28th, 2026, as a solo female traveler. Overall, I felt safe, especially wince they lock the main doors at 8-9pm, and you have to have your key card to get into the dorm hallways. I appreciate that there was free breakfast, even if it was minimal. I wish there was another beverage option or two, and more cereal/oatmeal toppings though. Staff was nice, no issues with anyone. It was confusing to find the entrance though.
this place has those classic hostel vibes and I highly recommend it. very good deal.
Great place to visit !
Well-kept building currently getting new, very nice bathrooms. Dining area views the heart of the city. Top bunk climb is kinda awkward and overall vibe in the common area is somewhat subdued. Nevertheless, take one of Joe's free tours and make some friends along the way.
Great spot
The location is unbeatable: right next to Pike Place and easy ($3) to reach from the airport by light rail. The kitchen is big and clean, and there is more than enough seating. Showers are good, and even though there are only 2 on the first floor, there are plenty a floor up. Bring earplugs and you'll be fine. For an US hostel is pretty great, just the reception staff is so so. Not very interested, while they are key for creating atmosphere. People don't really talk to eachother.
