Booking wrongly marked as cancelled “as requested” (I never requested this). Poor hygiene: ants in bathroom and breakfast area, missing toilet paper, food stored on the floor overnight. No towels or slippers provided. Air conditioning on a fixed schedule, rooms too hot in the afternoon. Hygiene and transparency need serious improvement.

I can not recommend this place. The host was kind of controlling??!! He would come into the room all the time and early in the morning, touching our stuff and you are not allowed to wear any shoes in the toilet, which was also the shower - so really unhygienic. Still great location and short distance to the sunday market + met nice travellers

BEDBUGS. I woke up to a bedbug next to me on my pillow. when I was checking out I showed the host a picture and he said he would spray the bed before the next person checked in. This is not an adequate way to remove bedbugs! The room/building needs to be fumigated. After I checked out the host then cancelled my booking in a bid to stop me from posting a review to warn other travelers. I contacted the website and they sent me a review request. Do not stay here.

Not very clean, lots of ants. No free water.

The owner gave me recommendations for a barber to get my haircut. This barber gave me ringworm on my scalp. Don't listen to a thing he says, the tours he recommends are the worst, the facilities are gloomy and dirty, and the atmosphere in the hostel is very strange.

The host is super nice and helpful, but sadly he’s just there from 8 am to 6 pm. The air conditioning is just running through the night and the accommodation is a bit inferior compared to other places for the same price. The breakfast is unnecessary. Apart from that I really enjoyed the host Ton and his recommendations!

- Cancelling the booking in order for you not to leave a bad review. This is not professional. Has happened to other people too. Very difficult to find time to check in. Problem with security. + The owner gives good recommendations

I really wanted to like this place. I booked it because I was going into Laos and the other reviews said the guy who runs it is amazing and very helpful. I think I got unluckily as I saw a staff member twice in my whole two days there. I couldn’t ask any questions or even buy a drink because the hostel was unsupervised all day and night. Tom the owner is sweet and helpful. gave a lot of tips. it was cleaned every day. Door to our room couldn't be closed. anyone could come in at any time. the people in the room were constantly loud. beds were hard

Best Hostel in Chiang Mai. Ton at the Reception is the friendliest Man I have ever met in Thailand. He has helped me choose the best tours & Restaurants near Chiang Mai and even booked my flight to Hanoi Vietnam! Highly recommend this Hostel to everyone that wants a quiet little corner in Chiang Mai

The front desk receptionist Tong was absolutely incredible, with great enthusiasm, reccomendation and kindness, even checking on me days after I had left. Cleanliness was ideal a the facilities were nice, all the people staying were friendly and the activities available were super fun! Tong made the visit, awesome guy!

Worth staying at just for the owner, easily the best from anywhere I’ve stayed. Very knowledgeable about the whole area, and super helpful and friendly.

I loved my stay here! Ton says his goal is to make the hostel feel like a home and he does just that. This is NOT a party hostel but it has a relaxed social vibe. I met some great people here! You can book all tours with Ton and get a good discount, he also makes you breakfast every morning. Loved this one!

AMAZING staff, he helps you with everything, no matter if it’s a tour (you get a discount), recommendations or local spots. Such a loving vibe, makes you feel like family. Hostel has a really good location, very chill vibe, clean, comfortable beds. Bike rental. Even free breakfast if you want.

Amazing stay, had the best recommendations and the best chill vibes

I have stayed there for a week, and I have to say it was the best hostel owner I have ever met. He is a licensed guide, and my trip to Chiang Mai would not have been the same if I hadn’t met him. He gave me tips on what activities to do, gave me discounts on tours, and even planned full day trips for me to do on a scooter for free — a scooter that I rented from the hostel, by the way. I would definitely recommend👍. Only con is that during the day the place gets very hot.

i really enjoyed time spent at Smike Robotist hostel, the property is really clean, the breakfast is nice, comfort bad. The owner is amazing, really friendly, he helps with everything and he has discount for everything. i’ll be back for sure

I would recommend this property to anyone travelling to Chiang Mai! Ton is super helpful for planning activities and he is very welcoming - always checking in to make sure you’re doing well and to see if you need any help. He is even gave me recommendations for when I went to Koh Samui. The only downside to this property is the bathrooms could be cleaner.

I had a really lovely stay! The owner and his brother a both super sweet, help out with everything and give a lot of recommendations on what to do. Not having bunk beds was really nice for me and the showers and toilets get cleaned every morning! Just a really nice atmosphere overall. Only people I would not recommend it to are people that are looking for a party hostel

Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Not a huge party scene but still social with nice common areas. The owner, Ton, is extremely accommodating and welcoming. He is incredibly knowledgeable about Chiang Mai and will gladly point you in the right direction for whatever you’re looking for. Easily my favourite hostel I’ve been to so far.

Great property!

My partner and I stayed for three nights. The owner, Ton, is amazing, he has the best recommendations on what to do and discounts for guests on tours and activities. Ton made our whole stay so pleasant. Will definitely be staying here again if/when I come back to Chiang Mai. The hostel was quiet but people were still friendly and sociable. Breakfast being included was a huge win too. And the location was unbeatable!

This was one of my absolute favourite hostels. The recommendations were actually so so good. All restaurants that Tun recommended were delicious and did brilliant and cheap food. The activities and bars recommended were also so good. He helped us with all our tours that we wanted to do whilst also giving us lots of information to make sure we chose the correct one. Overall a brilliant hostel and would 100% stay again 😁
