The Grand Meshmosh Hotel

The manager at the hostel was ridiculously rude. We gave him our clothes to wash and said they’d be ready in the morning. Instead, they were given to us two days later, smelling disgusting and wet. We wanted our money back and they refused. Our clothes smelled horrible for our flight to Iraq. Would never, ever, recommend this place to anyone.

I wanted to like this hostel so much. It is really cute in the pictures and the location is perfect. The bartender super gouged me on the exchange rate so make sure to have exact local currency when you order food or drink. Some of the staff members were a bit friendly but others (including bartender) were extremely aloof and cold. There is a no sense of customer service and there is even a feeling of hostility. I also saw a cockroach in the common area.

Great location, lots of cafes and bars nearby and easy walk to Beirut attractions. Hostel cafe and bar area is great spot to catch up with other travelers.

Everything was fine, except that they turn off electricity at night and sometimes in daytime so there is no Wifi or hot water in the shower.

The staff is very friendly, and all my queries were met. Beds are good and I had a very good night of sleep (we were only 2 in the dorm) See you next time!

Buen hostel de mochileros

Eher einfach, aber sympathisch. Die Lage ist top! Die Mitarbeiter sind größtenteils freundlich. An der Sauberkeit gibt es nicht viel auszusetzen. Überraschend reichhaltiges Frühstück!

Atmosfera sensacional, ótimo local para conhecer colegas viajantes. Os banheiros eram bons e a estrutura comum muito boa. As camas eram confortáveis, o único porém foi a ausência de prateleiras ou tomadas de energia mais práticas nas camas de cima. Mas isso não foi um problema. De forma geral recomendo fortemente esse hostel. Destaque para o clima agradável da área comum no térreo e para a receptividade e gentileza de Michel.

Bien localisé dans un quartier animé. Chambre confortable. Bon meti déjeuner local.

Really cool vibe with a creative and vintage look. Close to nightlife and several restaurants. The common area is a good place to meet other travelers. Enjoyed my stay here.

I really enjoyed my stay here! The location could not be better- it’s on a quiet street but just steps away from a bustling shopping district with plenty of food options. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe venturing out for dinner and such after dark. The staff were very welcoming and helpful in answering my questions. Only potential negative was that it wasn’t an especially social hostel, but that could be because I was traveling in the low season. Would recommend!

Yes, yes, yes to the Grand Meshmosh Hotel. Favourite hostel hands down. Breakfast is to die for. Super interesting and kind members of staff. Only thing is the expensive G&T - but boy oh boy was it delicious.

بكل صراحة امضيت بالفندق 4 ايام وكان الاستف متعاون ومرحب بالعملاء واشركهم جميعا والفطار كان كافى وممتاز

Super séjour dans un lieu où j'aime venir ! Equipe adorable et aux petits soins, endroit chaleureux et hyper central à proximité immédiate de la rue Gemmayze. Je recommande vivement !

Nice stay in Meshmosh Hotel, great location in the heart of Gemmayze and close from mostly points of interest in Beirut. Lovely staff and good atmospher, amazing breakfast, highly recommanded !

This is a lovely hostel that is tidy and super well located. The bunk beds are reasonably sturdy and don't make too much noise and the rooms have large lockers where you can store valuables. Regarding security, while the exterior doors lock after the cafe/bar on the main floor closes, there aren't locks on the bedroom doors, and there is very little stopping someone from walking up to the dorms during the day. Hot water is also a bit scarce - I didn't have a single hot shower during my stay.

Pretty much the best place you could stay in Beirut. You definitely won’t regret your choice. Staff is also amazing and very helpful.
