Maze Backpackers Gold Coast

If I could I would rate this place a 0. It’s a massive catfish and looks nothing like the pictures. The kitchen is unusable due to uncleanliness, we genuinely chose to eat out for all meals whilst here because the kitchen was so dirty and under equipped. The room was okay but the property is never quiet and we could hear the base music that was playing all night. Also the showers smelt of literal urine and they are unisex which isn’t advertised. Also the lift frequently breaks.

Beds are uncomfortable, showers on level 2 have non existent water pressure and smell terrible , they charge u for every little thing (lost key card 20$, new towel 4$……..), the kitchen was dirty didn’t have any salt or pepper for public or anything for that matter, for the price per night with it not including breakfast or dinner ur much better off going elsewhere for a few extra dollars and beds that make sense they also don’t put a proper bottom sheet it’s literally 2 top sheets.Boo...

The staff were rude to us and accused us of not washing our dishes when they had seen the CCTV footage all wrong. The rooms were dirty and we saw staff come in and not even change the duvet covers from the last person, they only shook them out and put them straight back. Floor wasn’t cleaned at all. The dishes were all deformed and none of them ever felt clean. The lockers were very small that we could hardly even fit in a backpack which made us feel uneasy with our belongings

Really disappointed. The hostel advertised FREE evening meals upon booking this hostel. When I checked in I asked where the communal meals took place only to be informed the hostel was no longer offering these meals. I explained it was one of the reasons why I booked the hostel but was told they stopped doing the meals 1 week prior to my arrival. I said that was false advertising, the lady apologised but offered nothing in return.

Ich bin echt nicht kritisch aber dieses Hostel war gar nicht meins. Ich habe nach 20 Minuten wieder ausgecheckt. Das Hostel ist vielleicht gut gelegen aber es ist weder sauber noch gemütlich, noch wohlfühlend. Es ist alles sehr eng und mein Bett war nicht gemacht und dreckig als ich ankam. Ich fühlte mich gar nicht wohl. Ausserdem fand ich Gold cost überhaupt nicht schön, ich würde es vergleichen mit Dubai-vibe (nur überhaupt nicht sauber). Deshalb entschloss ich mich direkt wieder zugehe...

First off, I had to wait like 15 minutes to check in. The only way to get up to the lobby (calling it that is generous) is by elevator (there's only 1 and it takes awhile). I was assigned to a mixed dorm (fine) except I was the only woman. I walked in and immediately spotted an empty handle of vodka on the table and people loudly partying on the porch. Only stayed here one night and felt very uncomfortable. Our room was right next to the kitchen with several hostel staff members staying in the room. Their property was everywhere, including rubbish all over the communal space. The room smelt of alcohol, the sheets were dirty with hair and sand in the bed. Roommates (hostel workers) came in really loud at 1am banging on the door, shouting and singing. Also had visitors in their bunks. General vibe was strange and unsociable. Wouldn’t recommend...

cockroaches in the bathroom, kitchen was dirty, rooms are so clinical and have a hospital like vibe were really awful to be in, shower was literally a few drops of water - would be impossible to wash your hair there. not nice vibe at all

The floor in our room was covered in dirt/sand. Could feel it on our feet as we walked round. We hadn’t been to the beach so the room obviously wasn’t cleaned prior to us arriving. The showers were also smelly

The last time I stayed it wasn't too bad - I like the location and the cinema room was good but this last trip a couple kept me up all night - walking in and out and it was just too hectic. I got sick afterwards cause I didn't sleep all night!!

Good location, however not a lot of social areas. Most of the people staying here were older. There are a lot of better hostels in the gold coast.

La ubicación está perfecta, y las habitaciones están ok, el ambiente es bonito, el personal es amable. Pero no hay control en las noches cuando la gente llega los fines de semana de fiesta, la cocina es un desastre siempre sucia, la mayoría no lava lo que usa, hace falta papel toalla, los secadores se agotaban muy rápido, los baños no los limpian de manera adecuada, las duchas apestan a orina, el lugar es muy bueno Pero no le dan el mantenimiento adecuado en cuanto a limpieza

Good place, clean and have nice común areas

it’s in a great location but the rooms are tiny and not clean at all. i’ve never stayed in a hostel that smells as bad as this one, in both the rooms and bathrooms. my friend found cockroaches in her room, and my keycard frequently would not work to access the building late at night when reception was closed, which was a bit stressful.

Great hostel, very social and a lot of activities! Very clean and great staff.

Beautiful hostel and not too far from the main strip in Surfers Paradise!

Good location, but cuckoo clock every hour is annoying. Showers weren't very clean. Not much areas to chill throughout day apart from kitchen. Highlight of hostel was the two american boys on activities were a good laugh.

Showers were abit cold. Fun ping pong social night, but the room for it is tiny. Great music in there tho

This was a great hostel. Clean, spacious, people were social enough, the rooms were nice, the showers were BEAUTIFUL and it was such a close walk to the beach! The staff were sometimes friendly, but a lot of times I’d go to the front desk and it was closed which wasn’t helpful. Other than that I loved my stay here

Showers never got cleaned in the 5 days i was there. The bathroom and shower were completely opposite direction of eachother. No privacy curtains on the beds and barely any storage for your stuff

the quiz night was fun and met other travelers. there was only a few toilets and showers on each floor. the staff and location is great. I would stay there again.
