Ansteys Beach Backpackers

There was no staff in the reception, so I waited long at night for someone to come and help me to check in. (Meanwhile, people were taking beer from the fridge for free as there was no managing staff.) The person who came later had no information on the room status. She didn't know which room had been occupied by whom, which was very scary. Plus, the communal bathroom wasn't cleaned up for three days. This hostel is not managed. Please consider staying here again.

Massively overrated with unengaged staff

Our door fell off while we were staying there. There is no aircon, so the rooms are sweltering in summer. We didn't find any staff particularly friendly or helpful beyond what they had to be. The pool is nice though. It's not terrible for the price

Enjoyed the stay, staff was polite and facilities was good value for what you pay.

Das Café hier hat geschlossen über die Ferien. Drum herum gitsbauchberst ab 9 Uhr die Möglichkeit zu frühstücken. Es gibt keinen Safe für seine Wertsachen. Man ist zwar innerhalb von 5 min am Strand, allerdings ist das Meer noch versucht und man sollte nicht ins Wasser gehen. Das Personal ist ganz gut, allerdings auch nicht 24/7 sofort zur Stelle. Aber hier lebt eine wahnsinnig liebe Familie nebenan, die einem zur Not auch Unterkunft gewährt. Gibt ein paar schöne Orte etwa 30 min von hi...

I had an amazing stay at the Anstey truly remarkable experience , the staff is friendly and helpful,loved taking morning walks to the beach ,though i wish they did serve breakfast and over all its a great place ,thanks

We enjoyed our stay at Ansteys Backpackers, the owner was friendly and we met some cool guests there. The view of the ocean is beautiful and the cabins are pretty, however the place is a bit run down and in need of some TLC. It's right by the beach but quite far from the town center which is good as it's a safe area but means you have to take an uber or your car into town.

I stayed at Anstey’s Backpackers for two weeks. It’s quiet and the sound of the ocean can put you to sleep. In the morning it the first thing you’ll hear. Grab your coffee and wander down to the beach to watch the sunrise. Who wouldn’t like that? Everyone is friendly. There is parking for your car. Great private room for the price. Excellent location near the beach, they have rental equipment, lovely cafe on site. It’s about 20 min walk to the shops

Lugar agradável, equipe muito prestativa! O maior problema é Durban mesmo, não tive boas experiências aos arredores. Mas o hostel não deixou a desejar em nada!

Very nice place I can recommend even the staff are friendly.

I had a great time here. I was traveling alone and it was a great chill beach getaway. The facilities are all very clean and I loved all the common areas to chill out. Staff was very friendly, Key was super helpful, would definitely stay again.

Le staff est extrêmement aidant et gentil. Le lieu est très chouette aussi, proche d’une jolie plage. Par contre, méfiez vous le lundi parce qu’il n’y a nulle part où petit déjeuner.

Had a great holiday weekend experience, just next to the beach, next to the taxis n busses, it was a great place.

Nice place for a solo travellers. Close to the beach and spacious common are. The are no lockers for the bags in the room

Ambiente acogegor y damiliar.

Great place, with an amazing cafe (Heidis). I could hear the sound of the waves in my room at night, fantastic. Just a little far from the city of Durban, but accessible with Uber. If you don’t need the city, it’s a great match!
