Smelled like paint and chemicals. No atmosphere. Felt like a summer camp for middle school kids. I guess I should’ve expected this from a cinema-themed hostel though hahaha
Overall, I don’t think this hostel was a good fit for what me and my friend were looking for. I saw it on the list for being one of the best social hostels in Porto which is why I booked! We did visit during the week which maybe attributed to the low energy. The rooftop was nice, but it wasn’t social at all. Also, not sure if there is an age limit for this hostel, but we were paired with a man who was clearly in his 60/70s which made the stay a little uncomfortable. I would not stay here aga...
Wie hatten ein Zweibettzimmer mit Gemeinschaftsbad. Für eine Nacht ok! Betten waren gut.
My main issue is that there was a huge group of students taking up most of the hostel. I went down for breakfast and it was just 20 people on their laptops. This made the atmosphere non-existent. This isn’t the hostel’s fault but as a solo traveller I was really disappointed. I wouldn’t stay here if you want to meet people or do hostel activities. The bathrooms and dorms were good though so if you just want somewhere comfy to sleep this could work for you. The rooftop was also nice.
Positive aspects: The hostel is well located, clean and comfortable. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Negative points: The hostel is not a good option for solo travelers, it does not have a hostel atmosphere, it is more for families or people who want to rest.
Given what you pay I would have expected larger storage spaces in the rooms and cleaner bathrooms. FYI: The average age is middle-age
STAFF IS SO FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING, THEY MADE THINGS MUCH EASIER. I'M GREATFUL FOR THEIR KINDNESS

Quiet stay with great staff! The location is great for being able to walk around and enjoy the city
Absolutely wonderful hostel! The location is excellent and just a few minutes away from Sao Bento station and within walking distance of old town and many of the other sights. Comfortable bed and a locker that uses the room key to lock/unlock so need for a padlock. Breakfast was provided too and cake and coffee/tea available all day long. Great staff too and a credit to the hostel. And a great rooftop bar to chill out in to wind down the day.
It was awesome! Great breakfast everything super clean!
Très satisfaites de notre séjour. L'auberge est propre, bien placée. Le personnel est sympathique. La cuisine est bien équipée, le petit déjeuner copieux. Je recommande vivement.
Overall awesome hostel! The staff were 10/10-just delightful and helpful. Even made popcorn for the evening films. Very central location so easy to get to Metro and other sites. Evening films-this was really lovely after a day of hiking up and down those hills. Comfy sofas and relaxing to just unwind. Sometimes a bit noisy-thin walls and sirens going off outside. Not a big problem though. Bedside light in private room was tiny so not much light for reading or relaxing. I would go back.
Great hostel! I felt very safe, a key card was needed to enter the hostel 24/7 which I really appreciated. I found the room to be very clean. The bunk had some shelves which were perfect to set all my things on at night while charging. The rooms also have large closets for storage that lock with the key card. The included breakfast was very nice. The hostel was about a 7 minute walk from the Sao Bento station which was great. Overall, I would recommend this hostel.
I liked my stay here. Well-equipped, clean hostel. Not a fan of movie night as it kills the rare chances to have a chat with other travellers. Shout out to Tamara, who was very helpful and funny, as well as patient with my broken Portuguese!
Probably the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in - everything was spotless. The only thing is that the beds don’t have proper power points - only the ones you use for shavers which means that they’re not that reliable. Apart from that it was great!
Rivoli Cinema Hostel was the best hostel experience I’ve had since I started travelling nearly 10 years ago. Everything about this place felt right. The staff were genuinely amazing, welcoming, and thoughtful, and the movie nights were a perfect way to end each day. It was also the ideal place to spend time writing my novel. I’m genuinely gutted to be leaving and couldn’t recommend it more — it quickly felt like home, which is rare on the road.
Super kind staff, the building feels a bit old but it is historic. They also play movies. And have a rooftop bar which is open in the summer
Had a wonderful time there during NYE. Specially I enjoyed the NYE dinner at the hostel, plus the location is excellent - close to everything. Would recommend and if I come back to Porto, will definitely stay there again!
The location is almost in the center, and you can walk around with no issues. Staff are friendly and helpful. You will have a variety of options for breakfast Overall a good stay with a reasonable price for what you get
Todo perfecto, super centrico, lugar muy bonito.
Had a really nice stay. Rooms were comfortable and staff were lovely. The bathrooms are shared and mixed gender, and were occassionally dirty.
Amazing hostel, very friendly staff and we felt so safe. Comfy beds with curtains, lights and plugs on each. Secure lockers with key cards and safe luggage storagPlenty of toilets/showers which were always clean. Fantastic location, 2 minute walk from Sao Bento Station and less than 10 mins walk from Dom Luiz bridge. We also enjoyed the free walking tour from the hostel, there’s 3 a day and it was so interesting. Our guide Pedro was also very funny and interesting. 10/10 would recommend!...
Co ed bathrooms wasn’t ideal and could be cleaner, but the beds are very comfy and spacious. Not a social hostel.
Staff were great! Liked idea of movie nights. Roof bar not open but closes starting November. Liked the queen sized bed.
Placement is perfect in the heart of the city. Offers great value breakfast and facilities and beds are top drawer.
