Mango by Hijau Hostel

+ Very nice Host, when I had a question they helped me out right away and were super friendly!

+ Great location near the train station of Banguwangi. We stayed here the night we hiked Mount Ijen, and Hady the owner, was lovely enough to let us check out late and sleep after our morning hike - absolute life saver! Facilities are very basic, but has what you need. An exciting addition of a street cat having kittens when we were there means there’s probably some sweet kittens running around. Has filtered water and small coffee/tea station. Some nice local Warungs around (ask Hady for recommendations), the Palm Sugar cafe did good food, with more Western options.

- Shower water wasn’t hot, rooms need a bit of a clean. Hard to find on google maps/grab, as still early days. We found it best that Hady sent us a location and we used a Dropped Pin to find it. A little bit far from the bus stations if this is your mode of transport.

+ I had a great stay at Mango! The staff were incredibly friendly and offered lots of helpful tips for traveling around Indonesia. There are plenty of activities to do here, like hiking to the Ijen Crater and learning about hydroponics 💚 Mango is also part of the same group as Hijau Hostel in Bali perfect if you're heading to Bali after your Java trip! The location there is conveniently close to the train station.
