If you want a bar, this is the perfect hostel for you. But the internet sucks, the beds suck, there is no air conditioning, the water temperature is perfect for 5 seconds and then you get scalded if someone in another bathroom turns the water off. The location is good, close to a tram station but besides that? Only stay here if you want to stay at somewhere where there’s a bar right bellow you. If you’re looking for anything else, do not stay here.

is in a old building that gives a nice vibe to the place, well located and with a bar bellow that belongs to the hostel. thr bar balcony is bellow the room windows so you can ear the noise from it and the smoke comes into the room if you are leaving the window open to breath. Didn't had enough cutlery mugs or bowls but was spacious enough for everyone.

Horrible place. Rooms are poorly equipped, furniture is very old, beds are so small that a normal height man can hardly sleep and it is very hot inside - property has no AC neither an elevator. Everywhere stinks from an old untidy carpet flooring. The toilets are horrible and untidy.

The hostel provides the bare essentials, but it’s one of the worst experiences I’ve had. The staff is unfriendly, the welcome is cold, and housekeeping barges into the rooms unannounced in the morning, offering no greetings or respect for privacy. The bathrooms are a social experiment gone wrong: the thin partitions between toilets make you feel like you’re sharing the experience with your neighbor. You would have to pay me to stay here again. Ive stayed in many hostels and this was one of the worst. The light was permanently off in the room. The smell in the room was so bad it made me gag. I really didn’t feel safe here at all. Kitchen was horrific with flies everywhere. The noise from outside went on till 5am (we couldn’t close the window as no fan in the room) please pay a few extra pounds to stay somewhere decent instead of here!!!

I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Disgusting hostel, floors covered in clothes and bags, maybe on shower stall per 25 guests, lockers aren’t emptied or cleaned after others leave. There’s maybe one or two decent staff members, the rest are crooks. Security will treat you like a common street dog and deny entry if you walk in without closed shoes, since reception is the bar. Oh, and YOU’LL GET KICKED OUT FOR REPORTING S*XUAL ASSAULTS from bar patrons.

S***hole. Beds weren't made. Room smelled. Showers didn't work. Toilets were disgusting. 0/10

The problem with this hostel is that the collective areas (kitchen, dining room) are not very attracting. Quite hard to meet people and to create a nice atmosphere. Rooms are very minimalist and very cold. A lot of noise during the weekend, and still a bit of noise during the week.

Super clean, super nice hostel. Almost distracts from the rats eating all my granola bars

The common room area is full of huge cokroaches and mice. I also saw a mouse in my room (i've posted a video this on my google review). The hostel has no room to store your bags, so if you need to leave them anywhere you just have to leave them unsecured in the common room. The hostel is very noisy at night due to the pub downstairs. It also has no air-con, so gets really hot on warm days. There's no elevator, so I had to drag my luggage up and down 4 flights of stairs. And the wifi is terrible.

overall a pretty good hostel, kitchen is good, everything is clean, bed wasn't too bad. I've seen reviews about having lots of long term residents but I still found everyone to be really social and friendly. Only negative was it can get slightly noisy as it's in the CBD especially on weekends but honestly I had earplugs in and majority of the time it never bothered me. Good pub downstairs too. I've stayed in a few in Melbourne and Exford is differently one of the best especially for the price.

Cleaning and hygiene and comfort very good but very noisy especially on the weekend (piano o and karaoke way too loud … )

Sociable hostel in a good location but the kitchen, lounge and laundry room being in the basement while the room was on the 3rd floor with no lift was annoying. No AC in the room which meant sometimes having to sleep with the window open which was directly above a loud smoking area

Unsere erste Begegnung in unserem Zimmer war mit einer Kakerlake. Und das beschreibt unseren Aufenthalt in dem Hostel ganz gut. Die gesamte Unterkunft ist brüchig. Überall sind Löcher in den Wänden und an der Decke, der Putz blättert ab und die generelle Sauberkeit lässt zu wünschen übrig. In der Küche ist kein einziges Fach für Lebensmittel frei und der Bereich zum essen ist relativ klein. Dennoch gibt es viele Kochplatten und einen sehr großen Kühlraum. Die Lage ist nahezu perfekt.

The Exford was fantastic is most every way. After a long day of travel, my partner and I were initially a little intimidated by the noise of Melbourne CBD and the Exford Bar. However, the staff was very helpful in getting us set up and as soon as we went upstairs to the hostel area we could hear essentially nothing. All the facilities were very clean, although the kitchen and restrooms were closed at somewhat inconvenient times. We had an awesome experience at the Exford Hotel.

楼下就是酒吧，到凌晨都会很吵，但是我有戴耳塞习惯所以还好。位置超级好，而且很便宜。卫生不好，淋浴设施也不好。没有电梯。没有什么公共区域。过渡一两天还是可以的。

The location is amazing and the old building looks cool but the common room is in the basement where there are no windows and it has a weird chemical smell and you have to walk like six stairs to your room.

Had a nice time there, noisy at night because of the bar but except that it’s valuable for the price !

Our stay was really good, I would recommend this place just for a couple days ! Location just next to China Town :)
