Expect a non-stop party, whether you want it or not. Walls are thin, doors don't close, and loud music blasts until 9pm. The "manager" was drunk at check-in, and I had to wake the owner in his bedroom to be able to pay. Cleanliness is non-existent: the kitchen is trashed, the "no shoe" policy is gross given the floor grime, and the place reeks of cigarettes. Plumbing is broken and taped together. Cheap price doesn't excuse the total lack of basic service. Avoid unless you only care about party.
The building is run-down (e.g. water floods the bathroom floor when the toilet is flushed), and the staff seemed lazy and unprofessional. I was barely showen my bed. It took 4 hours to get a blanket. Late at night, the receptionist was playing loud music on his DJ Table and conversations continued outside my window. In the morning, the receptionist was hooking up with a girl, being absent and causing another guest to miss his train to Ella. I had to wait quite some time to be able to check out.
Sehr zuvorkommend! Danke dafür! 😊
Vie is a very friendly owner! Always down to party and willing to help us find the best places around town. Very easy to meet people because you're kinda obligated to socialise as there is no curtains on the beds. I also met people by waiting for the one and only shower lol. The security could be improved by fixing the door to the 4beds dorm & adding more lockers so everyone can get one! Other than that pretty cool hostel! :)
Vie started his hostel just before the cyclone hit and immediately experienced some damages. When I stayed almost everything was fixed but you could tell the hostel recently opened and wasn’t ‘styled to the nines’ yet. But there’s a hot shower, good beds and a lounge area to chill so all the basics are covered. Vie himself is very friendly and tried his best to make us feel at home. He also arranged a driver for my tuktuk so I could enjoy the recently reopened train ride.
The hostel is still under construction, but very nice nonetheless. The location is perfect and the staff is really nice and helpful!
Hi Vie!!! What a pleasure staying at this hostel was. I felt immediately welcomed in the space (family dinners were fun and a great way to bond!) and it was really quite a cozy and fun environment. Vie was attentive and fun and super helpful with any questions I had about Nuwara Eliya and how to get to Ella with the train. Great vibes all around - party if you want or simply chill, it's completely up to you!
I really loved my stay here. I met some nice people and the hostels location is also really nice. The owner helped us organize trips and we even had a dinner all together:)
If you left living in a flat with friends to come travelling and you miss that atmosphere, C’est La Vie is a home away from home. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us feel as comfortable as possible, he is really one of the most generous people I’ve ever met. If you want to meet people and have fun (anyway you want) this is the place to stay. The location is also perfect, just up the road from the center of town. Unbeatable.

Only stayed for 1 night. but had a good time. nice host. and was always available to guide.
Felt like sharing a house with a bunch of friends! Pretty basic facilities, but more than made up for it in vibes. Loved the common area with couches. WiFi was really good as well
Great vibe at this hostel. Vie is a great guy and goes above and beyond as a host to make sure everyone is enjoying their stay
FUN HOSTEL NICE VIBE GREAT STAYYY
I went to this hostel with my friend and it was a very nice stay. The hostel is very cool and very welcoming. It is clean and the owners are very nice, very friendly. They are always available to help you for anything and make sure you spend an amazing stay !The price is also very attractive. I recommend 100 %!
Really nice place. You get what you pay for. Had a great time hanging out with people.
If you are in Nuwara Eliya, stay at Ciest La Vie. The hosts, Vidush and Julie, go 100% out of their way for you. I’ve never seen hospitality like this—Vidush even shared breakfast and lunch with me! • Vibe: Highly social with regular parties (perfect for young adults). • Facilities: Clean, safe, and a breathtaking view. • Value: Only 3USD? Unbelievable for what you get.

Had an awesome time here and in NuwaraEliya. Met so many great people here and had so many cool experiences. Feels more like a bunch of friends living together than a hostel which and really felt like home away from home after a few days. Kitchen is prett well equipped. Location is perfect. Quiet, nice view, close to bus station and shops. maybe not the best place if you just want a quiet sleep but if you want to have a good time and meet lots of people its great.
Had a really good time here. Vie ist super friendly. Really good vibes :)
Awesome social hostel. It's fun and easy going. Thanks everyone for the great community🤗

I initially planed to spend 2 nights only here in this place, then I fall in love with it that I spent a week. I the location is perfect, within 5 minutes walking it's already the market and downtown. the owner is very friendly and he recommended me so many things to do in the town and even helped me with finding my bus.
