Hotel Olas

We felt completely catfished by this hostel. The photos are very outdated – the place looks not like advertised and is extremely run-down. The restaurant and breakfast mentioned in the description/photo no longer exist. Our room was dirty, with empty beer cans left around the entire time. The kitchen and fridge were also disgusting. To make matters worse, I got bed bug bites during our stay. Overall, very disappointing and not recommended. For what is offered, the price is far too high.

This is the dirtiest hostel in Central America. When we arrived they had double booked our room so made us sleep in the staff room in a double bed with only $5 off. The kitchen was disgusting, looked like it had never been cleaned. There were house keepers walking around but no one in our 4 days cleaned our bedroom or bathroom. There’s was gross hairy soap in our bathroom for our whole stay.

Very disappointing experience – not trustworthy I would strongly advise against staying here. We booked a 5-island tour which turned out to be a scam. We were taken to only 1 island and got just $5 back out of $25, after complaining we were no longer allowed to book our shuttle for the next day through the hostel. Kitchen was dirty and sheets stained. Since new ownership~3 years quality has gone downhill.

Nice location and view, but overall a very disappointing stay. The hostel felt poorly managed, with no professional team and a weird vibe. The owner’s communication style was not very welcoming or professional. Construction work during the day caused a lot of noise without prior notice or compensation. An electrician was working in my dorm and even sat on my bed with tools on my belongings. The room had empty beer bottles and the kitchen was very dirty. No hot water or towels. I left earlier.

Das Hostel ist insgesamt schon etwas heruntergekommen und leider teilweise auch nicht ganz sauber. Die Küche ist teilweise etwas eklig. Aber für den Preis einigermaßen oke.

nicht genug Schießfächer für alle, Zimmertür kann nicht abgeschlossen werden. Ausserhalb vom Stadtzentrum. Hotel Manager ist keine große Hilfe. Küche dreckig, kaum benutzbar, wurde nach ein paar Tagen mal aufgeräumt. Generell Sauberkeitszustand lässt zu wünschen übrig. Lustige Atmosphäre viele junge Leute aber das war’s auch

The hostel is so dirty. The owner is ok, he share nice plans but really it doesn’t worth it. The beds are horribles, the rooms are dirty, and the place is really expensive for NOTHING. Don’t go here

Katzenpisse gestank im zimmer. Dreckig und muffig. Klima wird erst ab 10pm an gemacht. Der Inhaber war durchgehend am Bier trinken und irgendwie schräg drauf. Küche war seeehr dreckig und eklig. Gammeliges Geschirr hat sich getürmt. Der Inhaber organisiert einem aber sehr günstige Wassertaxi fahrten. Die bekommt man nirgends günstiger. Die Dachterasse und untere Aufenthaltsbereich war sehr cool direkt am wasser und man konnte direkt ins wasser springen. Kajak kann man um sonst leihen.

I booked this hostel and paid the booking fee. However, when I turned up there was no WIFI or hot water which wasn’t explained in the hostel description. I spoke to the owner and he refused to refund the booking fee despite the false advertising of WIFI.

Would advise against staying in this hostel. Extremely over priced for what it is. The worst mattress I’ve ever slept on, huge dip in the middle I was basically sleeping on the wooden bed frame. Kitchen sink was constantly full of dirty dishes. Two of the three days we had no running water for half the day (other hostels have a water tank for when this occurs), therefore unable to shower, toilets were filthy. Staff always unable to location air con remote. Key deposit not returned

Had a great time at Olas. Everything was amazing. The receptionist Danny helped me with everything i needed, from tours, shuttles from Bocas and everything in Hostel aswell as recommendations in town and was the most kind and helpful guy you could imagine. Would definitely recommend a stay at Olas.

Very nice place to stay! The host is very friendly, gives great recommendations and helps with booking activities. The view from the back is also great. Slept wonderful.

Very good accommodation! Especially Andre helped us a lot in the organisation of the trip. It was definitely worth it to go to this Hostel.

Nice building and location but it has to get renovated!! Everything smells wet and especially in the rooms it really smells like mould. Also the bathroom was dirty. On top we saw many small insects running around and the kitchen is very bad. The cooker doesn’t get hot enough and you don’t have everything you need.

Mega gut. Kein Luxus, dafür Abenteuer, Sonnenterasse, Hängematte.. wir haben es geliebt. Andre wirkt vielleicht recht norddeutsch.. aber er kümmert sich echt um alles. Vertraut ihm und lasst ihn Touren, Wassertaxis, .. organisieren. War immer am günstigsten.

Overall the stay was really nice, Andre the cleaner was so helpful. I enjoyed my time there

One of the best sunsets i have seen. They helped ne with tours and trips. Good room and clean. Life is good !!

The staff are super friendly, Andre always sorts things out for you very efficiently. Definitely recommend.

No lo recomiendo, es cierto que las terrazas son bonitas, pero el lugar es asqueroso. En las 4 noches que estuve nadie limpió la habitación ni el baño, era un dormitorio de 5 personas. Hay cucarachas en el baño y habitación. La cocina es otro desastre, está todo muy muy sucio. Hay un tipo que dirige el lugar que es muy extraño, hace comentarios un poco inapropiados a mujeres y hombres, si eres mujer viajando sola recomiendo tratarlo con distancia.

Süßes hostel mit sehr gutem Social Vibe. Der Besitzer ist super witzig. Die Dorms sind Basic aber völlig ausreichend

This hostel is a prime example on how an amazing location can be turned into poor if the owner does not care about it. If the owner respects you he is nice and helps you out with tours and all like he did with us. But with others we have noticed the opposite. Overall it was not bad but our room and bathroom were never cleaned during our stay and also before. The kitchen was really dirty and the utensiles were either broken, dirty or not available & it seemned like it’s not being cleaned at all...

I LOVE HOTEL OLAS!!!!! I recommend 100%. The owner, Andreis, was super accommodating and kind and ordered us water taxis every time we needed one. It was genuinely one of the best places I’ve stayed before. We had some issues with our room on day one and Andreis moved us into a different room the next day. This location is also perfect to access the good areas on the island. I loved it so much I wanted to extend my stay. You can also swim off of the deck. Stay here!! You will have a blast.
