Amsterdam Hostel

i wish i could give 0 stars, they have long term residents living here who have so much stuff and it’s all over the room. there are flies in the refrigerator, the whole place is a mess. don’t book this hostel. save your money

I wish it was explained how this hostel is used as a full time housing by local people. I have nothing against them, I’m sure it’s not fun to live here, but having to sleep in a room of 6, with 3 people who live there full time, also not fun. The room is already very small, and FILLED TO THE BRIM, by those 3 people things, boxes over boxes over boxes. All hooks used, the only shelf in the bathroom full of their things. There was no space at all to put my things even for a second. Also, filth...

I had to terminate my stay 4 days early due to extreme uncleanliness and was not refunded. I took the only remaining bed left in the female room which still had the prior persons dirty towels and sheets on the bed. When I told reception they just laughed. The bedroom was full of clutter from someone starting a food business from the room, which smelt very bad, and meant I had no space for my belongings. The cleaners only emptied the bins so the bathroom was always covered in hair. Very gross

This hostel was disgusting and the front desk staff are incredibly rude. The room I stayed in smelled absolutely horrendous, so much that the smell seeped into my clothes. The bed I slept on had literal blood stains, with old food wrappers and trash littered all over. I ended up having to check out and stay somewhere else. I was also charged an extra night on my card, I asked for a refund and a correction of the extra night charge but they refuse to respond. Avoid this place at all costs.

A really dirty place. Lots of insane people inside the property. Some homeless people stay there. The staff is not helpful at all.

Good For a nights sleep .. my room was hot .. thank god it was only for a night. These girls stay up making to much noise packing til 1am.

Pretty close to some dodgy areas. Vibe was low! Dark, depressing, kitchen was so dirty. Wouldn’t stay again.

The hostel did not specify clearly that you cannot have a US passport. I booked the hostel the same day I wanted to check-in and didn't see the passport policy until I received the email confirming my reservation. They refused to refund my reservation because I didn't cancel 24h beforehand (impossible in my case). In fact, I never got in contact with management. They never responded to my emails, and the staff at the hostel told me that they had no control and I would have to contact management....

i checked out late and was treated with disrespect by one of the male front desk people with dark hair, glasses and one cross earring. when i let him know he was rude, he doubled down. then when i tried to book again, i was told i was on a “do not rent” list all of a sudden.

Convenient location. Poor place for meeting people, common space are not very enjoyable (dirty, old, dark, smelly, uncomfortable). Mostly older (30-50) people staying there. The room had no efficient ventilation => smelly, humid Had to call out for unfriendly behaviours : Answering phone calls, speaker on, at 6 am in the room / Dirty use of the bathroom

I wish I could fully support this place, however: I heard more cussing and derogatory remarks being yelled throughout the property by staff and guests than ever before: As I am studying for my graduate thesis and beyond, I do not want to smell smoke: people are smoking pot inside the male dorm and in the common areas: a federal crime. Additionally, tobacco smoke leeches into the movies room for a private area outside. I had my food taken from the fridge and left out to rot. Staff did nothing.

Staff was helpful and nice. Enjoyed my 3rd time back. See you next time and Thanks❗️

for me is always great to stay here! very simple but it has the necessary stuff and a laundry . staff is ok, not super friendly but I don't care, I just need them to check me in and out and thats it, you get what you pay and is ok, location is great, I don't feel unsafe even at night time and is well connected with transportation, stores, etc

Was exactly as I was expecting. Except Problem encountered I called to confirm there was an oven. After purchasing food and arriving found the oven has never been used probably because gas has never been connected A big waste on my end

Es un lugar acogedor muy bien ubicado, en este hostal vive gente la cual deberia ser separada de la gente que solo viaja. es muy incómodo que las personas q viven ocupen todo el espacio coman en las habitaciones dejen comida organica en las canecas hasta el otro días, el olor es impresionante. Los que atienden no son carismaticos.

Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit in San Francisco. Das Hostel ist sauber, toll gelegen und hat sogar eine Waschmaschine. Sie waren sogar so nett und haben mir meinen vergessenen Ausweis nach Deutschland geschickt.

De kamer en ligging waren dik in orde. Proper, netjes. Het personeel was heel vriendelijk. Jammer dat de keuken niet altijd proper werd achtergelaten door mede-gasten. Er was te weinig plaats in de ijskast en er was niet voldoende bestek, borden. Een aanrader.

Great place and insanely cheap. Only downside is there isn’t much of an atmosphere and not many people talk.

This isn't a real hostel. Just a boarding house. Central location! But also, Google the Tenderloin to get a sense for the neighborhood. Staff was not friendly.

I had a great stay here, the staff were especially very kind and patient. I look forward to staying again!

Dirtiest hostel in SF, possibly. Rooms were very musky. Staff are generally uninterested and on their phones. WiFi is 2-3 Mbps usually so not super usable.

The outlets in the eating area next to the kitchen did not work. There was linen left on my bed from the last person. The cleaning lady never smiled or any greeting, very negative. One of the restrooms, the toilet was backed up.

The rooms were fine and modern, the bathroom was clean and new. The kitchen was too small as the common area in general. The hostel was a in a neighbourhood that I didn’t feel safe in at night.

A very very good stay overall. Loved the location
