Athens Hawks Hostel

No Vibes at all! The hostel is basic and i miss the hostel-style vibe. During our visit the rooftop bar was closed, and 90% of the hostel was booked by school groups (10yr olds). So there was no common area available to meet people or order a drink. This made the stay in a hostel quite worthless for us, as we were planning to enjoy like-minded people and socialize.

They force you to go to bed or leave at 11:45 by closing all common areas….The electricity went out for 24 hours during my stay….. the kitchen is shut during two days of my stay and they don’t warn you when you book online. They advertise having a kitchen……There is no kitchen to cook because they have closed it….. you can’t work during the night because they close everything….

Worst hostel experience ever. The area was sketchy & full of druggies.The place was run-down: no towels, dirty sheets, paper-thin walls, broken lockers & a barely working AC/heat unit. The worst part was the front desk reception when a male staff member yelled at me & refused to give his name for a complaint,getting aggressive with females. He literally was name calling guest to his coworker in Greek using profanity making fun of their nationality.Worst experience ever in this dump! Never again

Really terrible neighbourhood, I genuinely felt very unsafe. If you are a woman going out in this neighbourhood please cover up as the men really stare at you. Go out in groups. The breakfast was ok for 5e, the rooms were ok but the bathrooms were disgusting and the toilet seats were broken and our whole room smelled like cigarettes. They have a bar upstairs and they charge 8e for a cocktail and u can’t taste the alchahol. Very far from the acropolis and all the sights.

DO NOT STAY HERE. It is the dirtiest hostel i have ever stayed at and ive been to more than 20 across Europe. My room was disgustingly and didnt look like it has been cleaned in weeks. Garbage everywhere (including right beside my pillow and bed) cigarette buds all over the ground IN THE BEDROOM, people’s stuff all over the ground between empty alcoholic cans to receipts from months ago. I begged to switch rooms and they said they were fully booked. The bathroom was even more horrific.

Terrible experience. The room smelled and bed felt clean. The rooftop bar was underwhelming. The room was also hot and we had to have the window open. I ended up getting a rash or bites from my night here. The location was close to the ruins but in a very unsafe and sketchy area. The staff took forever to reply to my email but helped me get a taxi to the airport. Do not stay here.

Staff is rude and “culturally selective” with who they want in their hostel. I was following the invitation for the rooftop sunset party and was immediately stopped at the door by some nervous acting employee who said I “wasn’t welcome”. I asked how long the policy had been changed and he said yesterday. Yesterday? More like they change the policy the second he saw me. Ridiculous. It’s sad how small minded people behave.

Firstly i stayed in the female dorm in the 8 floor. You wont sleep because its terrible loud. I asked to Change, in the second floor very nice! Personal is very friendly und helpful. Liked them! You can order food in the hostel. Nice bar with a nice view. The Hostel is very Dirty especially the bathrooms. The doorms are too big and a lot of people. Breakfast for 5€ was good. The area around the Hostel is very sketchy. Never Go out alone at night. You will be robbed.

Very weird hostel. The receptionists workers were rude and almost bothered when you ask them for information. The overall vibe was weird in common areas expect on the rooftop which was really nice. The surrounding of the hostel are a bit sketchy and we felt uncomfortable as women to walk in the street at night and during the day. Probably is located in the worst quarter of Athens. Definitely not worth the 30€ a night.

I had a really pleasant stay at this hostel. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything I needed. The place was also very clean, which made the whole experience much more comfortable. One of the highlights was definitely the bar — great atmosphere, good drinks, and a nice spot to meet other travelers and relax in the evening. Overall, a very enjoyable stay, and I’d happily come back.

I really loved staying at this hostel! I stayed only for 1 night and didn’t have the opportunity to experience social events there, but generally everything is amazing, rooms are clean (the only thing you should consider is that beds don’t have curtains), staff is really friendly and nice, you get the welcome shot when you check-in and they allow to leave luggage after checking out, i really recommend this hostel and will stay there next time in Athens

Amazing hostel with a super friendly vibe! 😄 The bar was great for meeting people, and the staff were always welcoming and helpful. Everything was also really clean and well maintained. Would definitely stay here again! 🙌

Comfortable rooms and bathroom. Everything was quite clean. The bunks beds were extremely squeaky but otherwise comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful with whatever we needed. It was nice to have laundry there and breakfast. the breakfast was nothing crazy but it was okay. The location is a bit dodgy but there’s many accommodations around there

Good facilities, well located and fun bar at the rooftop

None of the photos seem to be of this hostel it’s probably their other location. But the hostel was still great and super clean I saw cleaners cleaning daily. Beds don’t have curtains but that isn’t a problem for me and our room had a nice balcony. Rooftop bar had a nice view and good prices. Wasn’t a very social hostel but it’s probably just bc the time I went. Desk staff were super friendly and I felt safe in the area. Will return again my next time in Athens :)

I do not recommend this place for solo travelers at all. I’ve spent about 7 nights here in total over two trips and each time I’ve been disappointed. No one wants to socialise as almost everyone is already in a group. The breakfast is overpriced. The whole place has this really weird smell and the location is just horrible, literal human shit on the sidewalk just outside the hostel.

Great Value for money and very nice rooms. Not the best area but very close to the main tourist attractions.

I spent 2 days in Athens. The hostel was perfect for sightseeing. Staff is very helpful. Will come back.andrea from Budapest

Clean, particularly the LARGE dining area and kitchen ....cleaning staff must clean often. Room had towel + some toiletries. Signs in rooms ask guests to not flush ANY t.p.! front desk staff were nice but with limited knowledge of nearby stores like those selling shoes, toiletries, luggage. glad to see a man (separate from front desk staff) watching people enter and exit at night, as the immediate block is sketchy. This was my 2nd stay

Although it was a bit of a sketchy neighborhood, it was very close to the Acropolis (~20 minute walk) and accessible via public transportation. There is a slow elevator to get to the rooms, which were nice, with balconies. The bathroom shower is a bit impractical because the water gets everywhere, but otherwise they had plently of lockable cupboards (need your own lock) and clean. The rooftop bar is a good addition, serving good drinks (the Acropolis is currently is obstructed by a crane).

good hostel comfortable sleeping and clean. great social vibes and great kitchen and the rooftop bar is sick. close proximity to lots of stuff didn't hate the location but it was a tad sketch relative to some other parts of athens forsure

Excellent location and facilities. Has curtains and the bathrooms are nice! The hostel itself could be cozier but the rooftop bar is nice (indoor and outdoor part).

Was a pleasant stay, staff were very friendly and helpful. We loved the roof top bar with 360 view of the city. About a 20 min walk to the acropolis!! The hostel felt like it was in a bit of a rough area however we never felt unsafe during our stay. Would definitely stay here again

Brilliant hostel in a fantastic location. I stayed in a private room which was super clean and had everything you need for a very reasonable price. The rooftop bar was closed but now that this has re-opened I expect there will be a great social atmosphere here. Staff are very helpful as well

As a female that was traveling alone I didn’t feel very safe in the neighborhood and wouldn’t recommend it, even though it was very close to the center, and it was easy to get around. The first few minutes getting out and back felt very uncomfortable, but if you’re a couple or even just two friends I think you’ll beok Also, my room didn’t lock from the inside. The area is a bit sketchy but you can get really good cheap food! We sort of booked it as well because of the pool table and the rooftop bar but the rooftop was closed and the table out of order. Furthermore if you’re looking for typical hostel life; it’s not the place to go. Completely dead
