Banana Bungalow Maui Hostel

This is what I imagine it would feel like to go to college in the US. Some would love that, I did not. I stayed here after staying in another hostel in town and the two were very different. I understand they meet different needs and it’s important to know what your needs are. The fridge was often full. They don’t clean them as often as they say. It’s just an interesting place.

Not a bad hostel. To be fair, they were completely full so I think that affected their ability to keep things (bathrooms mostly) as clean as they normally would. When we got there, someone's stuff was in one of our beds and it looked slept on. She changed it right away though. While I love animals, have several cats around does tend to make things smell like cat pee and that was definitely true in the outside area. I have stayed at this hostel before and it's was extremely great the first time. But on the second stay, this is during the government shut down period (Where we DO NOT HAVE TO PAY TO GET INTO National Park such as Halaekala and Pipiwie trail). During my stay here I went on these two tours and the tour guide said we "have" to pay a fee for the park entrance. This is true except on this occasion (I have verified with the worker at these parks and other people that entered seperately from the host...

Staff was wonderful. Parking is limited. My partner and I booked a private room. The beds and pillows were absolutely filthy. The cover for the box spring was never changed. The bed and pillows were filled with old stains. Pillows smelled like old musky body odor. Mattress was old and creaky everytime i moved. I slept without the pillows and we took a shower the next morning because we felt so dirty. For the price I paid I was livid bc we paid extra for the privacy. Disgusting.

In overall impression the banana bungalow hostel has lost its spirit. Infrastructure looks as if it once was very nicely and lovely made, but its not any more. My booked room was not available when arrived. I got a noisy room without fresh air, lots of light entering from the staircase. Too expensive. Très déçu de la propreté, nous avons trouver des coquerelles dans la chambre, le personnel ne semblait pas être déranger lorsque nous les avons avisé. Casier dans la chambre qui était tout brisé. Déjeuner qui était mentionné de 8 à 10h AM, n’était pas encore ouvert à 8:30, cuisine barrée, donc pas acces à notre ...

Esta muy descuidado, si bien el cuarto está limpio, la cocina en especial la tarja siempre sucia y el área común tmb … aunque los chavos son amables se siente que más bien están ahí por estar, el lugar no refleja profesionalismo y hubo un par de comentarios racistas

Ma pire expérience en hostel ! On a attendu 1h pour qu une personne de la réception vienne , il y avait des draps par terre dans un angle , des fauteuils cassés . On m’a mis dans une chambre vraiment salle les fenêtres ne fermaient pas alors qu’on était en face d’une rue passante donc très bruyante , la tringles à rideaux était réparée avec un pansement ! Je ne me suis ni sentie dans un endroit propre, ni la bienvenu ! Je veux un remboursement svp

I don't recommend this hostel, there's never anyone at reception and each time I had to wait at least 20 minutes for someone to come, on top of that the beds aren't comfortable and there's no respect, there was noise all night in my room and to finish off the man at reception is really unfriendly, and I had to fight to get back the cation I'd left for my room key, he refused to give it back to me.

It was okay! I don’t think I’d personally stay here again it just was kind of a bit of an older hostel for a pretty expensive price. The rooms weren’t as clean as they could be but Bathrooms were always clean which was great. Our room (4 bed) was really small. staff was super nice and accommodating. The hostel isn’t near a walkable beach or really anything walkable besides some small town shops and a gas station. There was free tours M-F and those were nice to hop on and see the island.

Loved it here however the only thing I would say is that we were put in different rooms when we booked it together. Fun atmosphere and felt safe. Parking was also a little hard to find though.

Great value near centre of Wailuku, Maui! Cool, laid-back informal atmosphere. Activities almost every day. I’ve stayed here before, brought friends, and will stay here again.

Great spot! Highly reccomend, I would actually be mad if I stayed at another hostel and didn't realize there was a such a fun one like this.

The hostel was clean during my stay, the staff members were friendly, and the tours were great. The town of Kahului has some gems but leaves a lot to be desired. I would recommend participating in the tours from the hostel, renting a car, or checking the bus routes & schedules. Overall, I had a nice time here and would be happy to stay again.

Banana Bungalow is one of my favorite places in the world

The Hostel is very old but clean. We had a private room but either linen or towels were identical. The kitchen was messy, all the dishes and pots not in a good condition. 3 fridges are not enough for so many people. The staff was very nice and helpful.

The room was clean, nothing special. Definitely a hostel for a younger crowd.

I arrived and booked a mixed room. Upon arrival I immediately had to switch that to a private room. I felt uncomfortable as soon as I walked in. The private room was better but the rooms/bathrooms were just dirty. This is definitely a party hostel which I was excited for, however it just seemed that the workers hungout with eachother and didn’t include any other guests to participate in the games they were playing. They were very clicky. They have great tours but fill up quickly :(
