HI Halifax Heritage House

Reduced common spaces, 2 bathrooms and showers for one floor of many people.

I had an ok experience. Location was good and rooms and bathroom were clean. The staff, on the other hand, was borderline rude and unhelpful. I checked in at night and the staff seemed bothered that they had to help me. They also posted activities and when I asked for more info the staff said that’s something they probably won’t do. So then why even write it in the board in the first place. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Overall a great stay, the hostel in at a very convenient location with easy access to public transportation. The staff were also very courteous and helpful. However there were points of improved: 1. The bathroom floor looked like it hadn't been mopped for some time, especially arpund the corners 2. The heating in the rooms were on full blast with no means to adjust the temperature, which caused the rooms to become very hot, so much so, I had to open the windows to make it bearable.

Good location, clean, fairly recently renovated, lockers for storing stuff and multiple key access entry points. Felt very clean and safe. Not many events hosted by the hostel for meeting people. Would stay again.

The map head used has with bad smell. They should change it regularly. The bathroom tissue was so rough Bed curtain would be nice for privacy. Other than these, everything is fine… the hostel’s location is impeccable.

Dorms stank but the spaces were very nice and staff were friendly. Many interesting conversations with the patrons

Overall great place, lacking in cleanliness in a few places, especially the washrooms. Female staff bringing male guest into their shared room is not okay. It is also okay for them to be loud long past quiet hours . From chats with guests this is not a one off occurrence either.

Really liked this place. Nice facilities. Deck was a bit of a problem with people partying out there at 1 in the morning but they settled down when we told them to.

It was a wonderful place to stay for a night. Walking distance to the main downtown area of Halifax. The bed was very comfy and the bathrooms were clean. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and happy to help answer questions about the city.

Amazing downtown location, clean, and safe!

Great place to stay in Halifax, good kitchen facilities and large communal spaces. Most things in the city are walking distance and also right by the station if you’re travelling in by train

Close to pizza and beer and coffee. Great spot!

Very accommodating staff.

Had an excellent stay at HI Halifax. The hostel has a friendly, relaxed vibe and the staff were awesome from start-to-finish - really lovely team. The building has lots of character and was always clean and well maintained. Dorms were comfortable and the common areas were great for relaxing/meeting people. This hostel is newly renovated, so it’s very clean and modern. The facilities are very nice, and the staff is super friendly. It’s definitely not a social hostel, more chill but still would recommend if you need a place to stay in Halifax!

Very nice room, convenient location in town

Amazing stay! Everything was clean and newly renovated, good wifi connection, comfy beds, most things were working in the facilities except one toilet in the bathroom, spacious common rooms, loved the free bins and swap corner (very nice concept!) My main cons were the tiny showers, it was hard to clean myself properly, and they were few activities offered by the hostel throughout the week Other than that, I strongly recommend! My favourite hostel so far!:)

Une très jolie auberge, extrêmement bien située dans Halifax! J’aurais voulu que les lits en dortoir aient des rideaux pour l’intimité. Il a aussi fait très chaud et nous ne pouvions ouvrir la fenêtre car la rue est trop bruyante (même si cela semble variable selon les jours) Il n’y a pratiquement aucune ambiance et pas d’activités planifiées par l’hôtel; arrivez avec votre propre plan de visite des alentours.

Modern, clean, friendly hosrel. Centrally located for train station and all main city attractions. Good coffee shops and take aeays nearby , if you cant be botheted walking two blocks to the supermarket to get food

HI Halifax is an excellent hostel! Fantastic kitchen, really friendly staff, and nice clean and welcoming space. I've stayed in so many hostels all around the world, and this is one of the best! You'd have to go to Wien (Hostel Ruthensteiner), Tokyo (CITAN), or Berlin (Backpacker Berlin) to top HI Halifax. Five stars!
