There's an old man living in my dorm room ? He very obviously lives here as he has bike boxes and uniform for a delivery firm, and has an entire Apple Mac set up at his bed. It's extremely weird for the hostel to put travellers in the same room as residents? As a female traveller, I feel really uncomfortable being in the same room as an older man who LIVES here? I’ve never in my life left a hostel early but unfortunately, the building was so old every time a door slammed my bed shook. The rooms were so hot and had no AC even though it was cold outside. Because this is a hostel, my bed shook all night and the room was so hot so I couldn’t sleep. I reported to the front desk who did nothing. I ended up having to book another accommodation just so I could sleep.

I’d read the reviews saying this hostel had quite a cold atmosphere - but thought fine for one night. Unfortunately, on the way to Tallinn I had a personal circumstance (lost my phone/credit card) where I wish I’d been staying at another hostel. I was hoping for some advice/support from staff - who reluctantly helped to an extent but made clear I was an irritant and couldn’t have cared less. Záchod ve 3.patře nefungoval, musely jsme v noci do jiného patra, čistota v kuchyni nic moc, kávovar obsluha proplachuje v čase snídaně, takže v 9 čekáte 20 minut na zprovoznění, obsluha do toho ještě vyrábí těsto na wafle. Pokoj OK, ale hrozný hluk z venku, dá se spát tak 3 hodiny a to jen díky špuntům do uší. Mám 20 letů ročně, bookuji opravdu dost ubytování a toto byl muj první a největší přehmat.. jestli čekáte v hostelu přátelskou atmosféru, tak ne ...

Terrible staff.. there is no age arrangement whatsoever. There were people from every age but kids the most!

Not Recommended – Unfriendly Staff and Unpleasant Conditions My stay at Fat Margaret's Hostel was extremely disappointing. From the moment I arrived, the staff was completely unfriendly and unhelpful. There was no warm welcome, no information—just an indifferent and unmotivated attitude. They didn't open the door when we arrived, so we had to find another place to sleep. We wrote in the special request that we would be arriving about 20 mins past midnight, if that's a problem please let us know now. Seems like either they didn't bother reading the request or Mrs. Margaret ate so many cakes she couldn't even bother to open the door.

Only positive thing to mention is the location. Everything else is subpar. Room was dusty and had food crumbs under the bed, I know this in particular because I had to search for a power plug. Shower was dripping and there was no way to prevent this, and clearly it has been going on for a while as the bottom part of the shower was covered in green mould. Same was the grid on the tap in the washbasin. WiFi-connectivity was unimpressive. 10/10 I would not recommend Fat Margaret's Hostel.

Morning sauna, with cold pool, plus make-yourself waffle breakfast are super! There are locked, one for each bed, that can be locked with the key provided.

Stayed here twice, once in a private room and once in a shared female dorm. Really loved this place, facilities were great and super clean. Loved the layout of the hostel and location was good, about a 15 min walk away from everything. And near the ferry too port too for trips to Helsinki!

It could have been cleaner, there was dirt on the floor and on the mattress when I checked in. The atmosphere was very calm and it didn't seem like a hostel to socialize in.

Slightly further out of town than others. Great hostel, we were upgraded with our room!! Disappointing that the sauna is only open in the morning, but overall great!!

I truly love to stay at this hostel. Sauna is the plus points. Perfect location just the right front of the old town. Walking distance from jetty terminal. If I come back to Tallinn, I will come back to this hostel.

Wir waren für eine Nacht im Damenschlafsaal. Sehr süß eingerichtet, mit einer Couch und endlich mal Spinden die groß genug sind für alle Sachen. Morgens ab 9 Uhr gibt es sogar kostenlose Waffeln mit Schokocreme oder Apfelbrei. Den luggage storage kann man auch kostenlos benutzen und ist alles sehr unkompliziert, also alles top

Great place in the very Center of Tallinn, you can not even think about a better place for visiting Tallinn, highly recommend!

The receptionist couldn't explain anything to us because she only spoke Estonian and English, while we spoke Russian and Finnish. You should always find a way out of a situation, rather than repeating "I don't speak Finnish" or "I don't speak Russian" over and over again. That's why the service is rated so poorly. The room itself is nice, clean, and comfortable. The location is excellent, as it's close to the port, and we're driving further into Finland.

Overall really good hostel, right in front of the old town, good bedrooms, really cozy and mostly clean except the floor because of the snow. Not really crowded at this period of time

Hostel was quite clean, but honestly I would not come back there as for this price there is lot of better options. I will point thin walls as huge minus as we could hear conversations from other rooms at night. As for rooms, they look better on photos than are in reallity.

We stayed at Twin beds rooms each with private bathroom and shard bathroom. The man from reception was calm and polite. The rooms are neat, tidy, clean and minimalist. The sauna and cold water pool was nothing fancy but functional and practical ones. The only downside was not providing soup and shampoo in the sauna and the shower rooms. The location was very near to old town but the price was cheaper.

Worth your money. Stayed in a private room with a bathroom. Simple, functional and affordable.

De los mejores hostales en los que me he quedado. Super limpio, las habitaciones amplias, la ubicación es inmejorable y el staff muy agradable. El plus es que tienen sauna gratis y waffles gratis :)

I really enjoyed staying at this hostel. The location was great, the staff were friendly, the female dorm was very nice, everything was very clean and cleaned regularly. the showers and toilets were also very good, clean and practical. It was very nice to get the free waffles in the morning. the sauna and cold pool were really nice, I was shocked at how few people used it. I thought it was really nice and excellent value for money. It was not very social but few hostels in Europe are.

Not a very welcoming staff. Stayed in a single room with a bathroom. Decent accommodation for the price.

Estuvimos en una habitacion privada con baño privado. La habitacion estaba en un 3 piso sin ascensor y teniamos 2 valijas grandes, el muchacho de recepcion nos ofrecio dejar las vajilas en el luggage storage room durante toda nuestra estadia y asi subimos solo lo necesario. Estuvo perfecto. El hostel es limpio y esta bien ubicado

This place sounds truly magical ✨ I saw it review on many travel blogs. Unfortunately I had to cancel my stay here and the owner was really kind to cancel my booking. Cant wait to visit it in the future.
